Are taxpayers funding academic institutions to indoctrinate our kids? That disturbing and irresistible question plagued me during the long drive home last week from college orientation. I doubt I am alone in this wake-up call. Like many other women, I just sent my youngest child to college. I am so proud of him and his decision to join the Army ROTC and study engineering. He will be attending a revered Virginia institution known for its military Corps of Cadets program. The centerpiece of the campus is the military parade field featuring beautiful pylons bearing the school’s founding principles: words such as “honor,” “duty,” “brotherhood,” and “ut prosim” (that I may serve).

“Parents, don’t be shocked if your kid comes home changed.” This according to the orientation speaker. That is definitely an ominous message which should give any conservative parents warning not to send their sons and daughters there.

When did new student orientation become about sexual orientation? When we all decided to be polite rather than persistent in resisting arrant nonsense. Sad freaks who want to pretend they are women should be treated exactly like everybody else. Basic courtesy does not require catering to delusions.
Any attempt to modify language going forward should be met with the simple statement, "Please don't tell me how to think or speak." Individuals who are aggressively offended on behalf of others should be asked a simple question, "Do you really care, or do you just want to lecture others?" Finally, and this one is hard because some groups really have had a rough road, we have to stop treating minorities like Faberge eggs.
The hardest thing to do, and the best we can do, is to treat people as individuals rather than members of groups. As individuals, we owe each other nothing but decency, courtesy, and the right to think whatever we choose.
No more apologies. Reject the Left's political score cards. Resist social blackmail and digital mobs. People died protecting freedom of speech, and we owe it to them to preserve it.
Make America free again.

If every parent who was offended during the orientation had packed their child up and left, the school may have learned a hard lesson. The students are their to learn, not to be indoctrinated.

Perhaps the alumni from Tech should make their stand. Tell the college " no more money" until this ceases.

Yo, Penny. Where the hell have you been? It's not just Virginia Tech, it's every school in the country. With the exception of Hillsdale College.

Once parents fear over the safety of their children finally overrides their arrogant desire to brag and boast to their business associates and book club friends about Little Johnny going to Hoity-Toity U, then and only then will they stop wasting thousands of their dollars on Junior's useless degree from the reeducation camps known as colleges.

I agree with her. It is never too late to push back. This is our fault for letting the left take over the education system. To attack this writer because she wants her son to get a degree in his field from a highly regarded university seems petty and wrong thinking. To flippantly say, if all the parents walked out and took their kids, that would show them, is ridiculous and rude as well. These kids bust their butts to get into these schools.

I recall my VA Tech 1970 Engineering School orientation. I can see the dean now in his tweedy suit with bowtie, right out of those old 1940's black and white photos of engineers involved in some great technical undertaking, inspiring confidence and admiration of men who built the world we know.
All this is a good case to have your kids delay their education for a few years until their value system has been imprinted. Rather than having the university brainwash them, they can stand up and fight the cultural goon squads running amuck at our universities.

At our kids' orientations, the administration took pains to point out we had no right to ANY information that our child him/herself did not provide. "They are ours now" is what came through. And that was 15 years ago. Has to be worse now.
