The Trump administration on Monday issued a long-awaited rule strengthening the ability of federal officials to deny green cards to immigrants deemed likely to rely on government aid.Officials described the so-called "public charge" rule as a way to ensure those granted permanent residency are self-sufficient -- and protect taxpayers in the process.“The principle driving it is an old American value, and that’s self-sufficiency,” U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Acting Director Ken Cuccinelli told Fox News in an interview. “It’s a core principle -- the American Dream itself -- and it’s one of the things that distinguishes us, and it's central to the legal history

Welfare monies are given to the individual States to distribute. Are the Sanctuary States or Cities going to give these illegals up? I doubt it.

I volunteer in an inner city food pantry. A significant fraction of our “clients” are recent arrivals, fully dependent on our welfare system and likely to remain so.

This is why Trump is president and no one else can make that claim. This ruling is the most reasonable step toward the goal we seek since LBJ got us into this horrid welfare mess and took/ordered fathers out of homes.
Thank God for President Donald Trump. KAG

#1, there are ways to get that information. One could be the states have to identify who are receiving these funds, if not, then they get NO funds. OR they only get funds for the ones that they identify. It's as simple as that.

Great news.
This has been the law for a long time, that immigrants should not pose a risk of becoming "wards of the state", finally we are now starting to enforce that.
More winning!

Trump is the only person with any ideas, or that does anything. The rest of the elected bunch should pretty much be let go.

FTA: "The rule is likely to cause significant backlash from Democrats and immigration rights groups, who have warned that it may spook migrants away from claiming the benefits they need, fearing it will lead to them being deemed inadmissible when requesting a green card." DUH, isn't that the point? We have plenty of homegrown consumers of 'public assistance' and most certainly do not need to import more.

Aliens who are adjudged to be “public charges” likely to access the US social welfare network of benefits and services have been inadmissible to the USA and are deportable when located inside the USA in accordance with Federal law from the get-go. This problem was created by cowardly politicians and bureaucrats who have failed to effectively enforce that law, essentially looking the other way for corrupt political purposes allowing huge numbers of aliens to access public welfare benefits and services to which they were and are not lawfully entitled to. This is just another out of control immigration related situations that President Trump is trying to fix.

I wonder if "FatNads" checks his To Do list between utterances of impeach DJT? Seems our President is really working on behalf of the 'Mercan pebbles, not himself like little Sambo did.

Emigrated from Canada decades ago. It was not a simple, inexpensive or uncomplicated process. It was also well worth the aggravation. After offering proof of identity which involved long form and in triplicate documentation, I had to have a job procured and waiting for my arrival in the States. I was a college educated professional and once again had to provide proof of my credentials.....transcripts and diplomas. At my point of entry I was interviewed by the American consulate who was suspicious of the fact that I did not have a letter from my new husband stating that he wished to have me join him in the United States. Unknown to me, divorce laws were more lenient south of the border. My husband was a Canadian attending university stateside. After some tears I desperately professed my love for my new husband and was let go. I am sure he was as glad to see me leave his office as I was to depart. Then we were off to a local hospital for a chest X-ray to determine that I was not a harbinger of tuberculosis. With a clean bill of health and reams of documentation I crossed the border and began my new life with my new husband and dreams for the future. Those dreams have been more than realized and we proudly became proud citizens of this great country. Enter this country the right way and the freedoms and opportunities are boundless. We know.

When some Leftist Judge says he can’t do it he needs to tell the judge to pound sand, it’s in the law!
