NBC Universal will not be releasing controversial movie The Hunt in theaters next month as planned, following a backlash over the film's themes that depicts 'privileged' vacationers hunting 'deplorables' for sport. There have been widespread objections to the movie's plot, particularly in light of the recent mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton that left 31 dead. The studio's decision came just one day after President Trump lambasted the film, calling its creators 'racist' and saying the movie was 'made to inflame and cause chaos'.

What amazes me is that the film even got this far.

I believe its release would have backfired on them, and I wish they would have followed through with it.

I wish they had released it. It would have shown the utter madness of Hollywood and its "elites." They could not have pointed to Trump and conservatives and called them mean-spirited after that.
Then again, if idiotic young people will eat Tide pods on a dare, they might actually be persuaded that a deplorable hunt is a thing.
I'll bet a bootleg copy shows up at some point.

I wonder how many of the actors and actresses soiled themselves during filming trying to learn how to fire a weapon.

I'm with #1 and I'm sure most of the thinking public. Who in their right mind thought this was a good movie to make?
FTA: "According to The Hollywood Reporter, the controversial film was divisive back in May 2018 when film chief Donna Langley acquired the script and fast tracked it on a $18 million budget. ... A filmmaker involved with Universal said: 'Employees in different departments were questioning the wisdom of making such a movie in these times.'"
Ah, a woman. A member of the fairer sex who, we were assured, once in positions of power and authority would bring humanity and compassion into the world of business. The feminazies broke up the Hollywood old-boys system so that a new era of feminine empowerment would end women portrayed as one-dimensional sex objects and the victims of toxic masculinity. Instead, Ms. Langley offers kill porn where both the evil villain and the hero are women acting out a familiar script usually dominated by men. I guess toxic feminism is good while toxic masculinity is bad.
The sickest twist given this old tale is the motivation to wholesale killing because of a different political opinion in the bastion of free speech, the United States of America. The old studio moguls may have been SOBs, but they respectfully portrayed women on the screen and were patriotic citizens. Goldwyn, Mayer and Disney must be spinning in their graves.

What is surprising is if they really do pull it. Remember, when George W. was president there was a play on Broadway that depicted his being assassinated. I can't believe no one on Fox hasn't mentioned this yet.

So who was the genius producer and who were the Hollywood executives who thought this was a great idea? How many tens of millions were flushed away and who is left holding the bag? What B-list actors just lost their chance for an academy award nomination?

Some reports indicate that the 'elites' are the bad guys and the 'deplorables' are the heroes/heroines of the movie. Of course, the female lead has to be the "tough guy", and the males have to fail - can't ever upset that hard rule in Hollyweird.

That's unfortunate. If the movie was as some of the trailers hinted...in which a group of stereotypical Democrat 1%ers pick the entirely wrong group of Stereotypical Red-Staters to torment, and much hilarity ensues, it would have been a movie worth watching.
OTOH, and most likely given the creatures behind this film, if it turned out to be legal snuff porn for Democrats, sort of like a political SAW or Hostel, then it would have been perfect material for Republicans to weaponize and hang around the necks of the MSM-DNC Complex like a rotting albatross and hammer them with it over and over again all the way to 2020. And Trump could have forced the MSM to address it merely by putting carefully curated clips on the jumbotrons at one of his rallies to bolster his points. It would have been beautiful.

Just like Kathy Griffin and the severed Trump head, this movie shows the insanity and "groupthink" of Hollywood. Was there no sane person in the process who could have stopped that movie long before it went into production?

It's an itch that has to be scratched, so I'm sure they'll have a private screen for the super elite. We'll never know about it.

In the Real World, the male deplorables would not fail and need a woman to bail them out. They would be making bows and arrows, digging bear pits and punji sticks, and showing those city dwelling elites a thing or two about hunting. Once they got their hands on a few rifles the elites would be the hunted, as they should be.

The movie is nothing more than a gaslighting to shouting fire in a packed theater. If they ever release it and another demonrat deranged psycho commits mass murder, I hope Universal and their disgusting actors get sued into oblivion.

Put Universal out of business. Refuse to go to any of their movies or watch any on TV or Netflix. No Universal theme parks either.
