A string of high-profile gaffes within the past 24-hours have renewed doubts, especially on the left, over former Vice President Joe Biden’s capabilities as a candidate.
When Biden first appeared in Iowa this week, it was as a returning champion. Not only had the frontrunner bested his most vocal challenger at the second Democrat presidential debate last week, but Biden had also succeeded in deflecting some of the attention from his mounting family troubles by attacking President Donald Trump.
Even critics, like former Obama strategist David Axelrod, admitted Biden’s campaign seemed to be finding its groove.
“By far, this is best Joe Biden moment of the campaign

I think the dems are dumb enough to nominate this mumbling stumbling boob. And he probably has the best chance against Trump because the others are just left wing boobs that can't win states other than Cal. and NY.

Tulsi Gabbard, the photogenic one, is probably the most likely at this point. Woman, military background, hyphenated ethnicity, and a Hindu to boot. The rest are all just noise.

Tulsi:
- Yes, is photogenic
- Military background. Doesn't necessarily mean anything. She is woefully ill-informed about national security. Politically, doesn't mean anything either. One-third of the military voted for zippy in 2012.
- Hyphenated American. No; she's American Samoan which is not hyphenated American since it just describes a person from a US territory. I went to school with a relatively large number of islanders and they would never consider themselves part of the hyphenated American sub-culture.
- Hindu. OK, but not sure if that really resonates with the religious left.
She is reasonable and can talk well, but her advisors will likely corral her into far left nonsense.

The only reason Barack picked Joe as his running mate was to make him look saner in comparison.

I again offer the bet that Gropin Joe, given three guesses, could not tell you today is Saturday. Still waiting to hear the answer to the three genders question.

Imagine what will be popping out of his mouth if he ever campaigned in more than 2 hour increments.

Joe is reaching for words and too often coming up short. He obviously has diminished capacity and it is time to leave the world stage. Joe can’t let it go. His family needs to take him home. This man is not capable of taking on the responsibilities of the presidency.

First, Joe was never supposed to be a serious contender. He was supposed to shock the radical clowns that were running (and still are) into shifting back to the right - that is more toward the center. Radicals can not win the Presidency and the Party elites know this without a doubt. They were worried sick that a sane voice was not rising to the top of the gaggle of potential candidates and so convinced Joe Biden to toss his hat in the ring- for a while. It was not supposed to be a serious run- just a shock to get the radicals to voice a few saner ideas, get off the "Hate Trump", "Impeach Trump" bandwagon and get on with at least trying to sound Presidential and present a few universally appealable thoughts. It never happened because Biden is nuttier than a Snickers bar himself. Anyone who watched his performance on The view in May could see Biden was definitely NOT going to be that grounding rod. He was meek, wavering, apologetic, and sounded quite confused in the face of direct badgering, which was ruthlessly conducted by comedian Joy Behar. Biden's true colors were heavily exposed and he has not been back on that show since. When he is scripted and on the Teleprompter, he can sound fine. But, his level of dementia has removed his delf discipline (did he ever really have any self-discipline anyway?) as these latest gaffs have shown. Biden will be gone before he ever has to debate President Trump- of that much we can be certain, regardless of his poll numbers. His mission has failed. The only question now is that of timing his exit.

#8 you make a great case and I would agree with you. But the power brokers (including some GOP) are still supporting Biden and he is way ahead of everyone else. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this primary season. I hope he gets the nomination because it will be great entertainment to see President Trump drop kick uncle Joe and the Democrat party through the goal posts of the 2020 election.

It’s bad when Bite Me cannot remember to deliver the poll-driven, ever-changing scripts that deviate from the stump speeches he CAN remember.

#9. Good points, indeed and I agree, PT will win regardless of who the Rats employ as an opponent. But, Biden is truly an embarrassment. If as you suggest, some Republicans are in support of Biden for the fun of it, then what does that tell us about those Republicans? The big "Why?" pops up. Plausibly, I can understand it a little bit. But, sooner or later, someone has to wake up. The only proper scenario is the "Sacrificial Goat" ploy. They know Biden can't win. They know no other Rat can win against such a successful, populist President. So, they toss in a half-dead horse with no future like Biden and let him take the hit- no penalty, no harm done to their up and rising stars. Now, that makes sense. But, they certainly would not need RINO Republicans to help them with that plan.

I think #8 makes a very good case, but I can also see another possible scenario. Biden is still polling higher than anyone else in his party, and if he wins the nomination, he gets to choose his running mate. Should he manage to win the general election (through voter fraud and other nefarious means), all he has to do is resign for health reasons (with a little bit of persuasion from the swamp) shortly after he's inaugurated and voila! Say hello to President Harris/Warren/Gabbard/Buttigieg/Castro/Booker/O'Rourke or any other radical that couldn't get elected dog catcher outside their own benighted district. Mission accomplished: The White House is radicalized...once again.
