Banana Republic is the latest major retailer to sell hijabs, the Islamic head covering for women. Although the company has been praised for its new products by CAIR, it also faces backlash from the Islamic community for showing models in hijabs dressed in short-sleeved t-shirts and other clothing not in line with Islamic dress codes. The clothing company began selling hijabs in late July, following in the footsteps of Nike and Macy’s. Banana Republic’s site currently features four hijabs in solid colors as well as leopard and floral prints, ranging in price from $39.50 to $49.50.

Just cut up my Macy’s card. Nike? I’ll go barefoot first. Banana Republic, buh bye. Wonder when Macy’s and Banana Republic will stop selling clothing and items offensive to Muslims?

They live here - they shop here. Who should care what someone prefers to wear - regardless of the reason?

There is no way a business can make the muzzies happy. They always *itch about something that they don't like.

You let the camel get it's nose under the edge of the tent, and pretty soon you have the whole stinking animal in there with you....a hijab here, a 'banned' word there, Halal food in school cafeterias, no pork products in school cafeterias...it just keeps going on and on...as a proud, Christian, Infidel, bible reading, pork eating conservative, I'm sick and tired of this sh*T...time to send them ALL back to the sand pits they came from...no muslim should be allowed to hold ANY local, state, or federal office...their whole belief system (no MATTER what they say) is 180 degrees out of phase with ours....

I remember when scarves tied a certain way were symbolic of palestinian oppression. Now everyone just wears scarves tied like that and it doesn’t mean a thing. I can see the hijab going the same way. Almost. Maybe not. I’ll never wear one but they seem to be marketing them as fashion accessories. I do agree there’s a nose and a tent involved. Stupid muzzles ruin everything.

Please don't over-react. Hijabs are WOMEN's wear and I don't think many of the world's Islamic terrorists have been anything other than young MEN. Don't get me wrong - I do not think of Islam as a 'religion of peace'. But acting like 100% of the world's BILLION+ muslims are all terrorists is like thinking all Jews support Israel - simply not true.

This should be interesting. As I understand it the hijab is not required by the Koran - but “modest dress” is… Good luck with that BR...

I believe they were worn initially to protect their faces from the hot sun, blowing sand and stink. Smart. Somewhere along the line it became law. They are not necessary in the West.

Now we know that Macy's Nike, & Banana Republic all have no problem with the subjucation of women. CAIR would like us all to believe these women CHOOSE to wear these things, when they don't tell you what happens to them if they don't wear them.

IHOP bought out Applebee's and it is now defunct. You couldn't buy a meal there if you were starving. Banana Republic is mainly for teens (like Abercrombe & Fitch, and GAP, etc) so I am not drawn to it. But unless it was for a skit or a Halloween costume, I can't imagine a real American buying a hijab anyway. Suck up to the enemy all you want to, but don't expect me to help. When they come for you and cut off your head, please do not bleed on my rug.

I believe I have only been in a Banana Republic store once in my life. It was to kill time, not to buy anything.
