Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D.-N.Y., has determined there is too much political speech in the United States coming from sources he cannot abide. So, he stood in front of the Supreme Court on Tuesday, along with Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin, D.-Ill., to announce he is backing Democratic New Mexico Sen. Tom Udall's proposal to amend the First Amendment. The First Amendment — as it now stands — includes 10 unambiguous words about freedom of speech."Congress," it says, "shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech." Schumer and Udall do not like this sweeping restraint on government power.

They should call it the 'Common Sense Free Speech Control Amendment'.

Two things sustain a free society: guns and speech. Both are opposed by...name the party.

He's taken off the mask! Now Chuckie is blatantly anti-Constitution. I hope the sheeple take notice.

There once was a time when people would tell you that you could say whatever you want, no matter how vile, and they would protect your right to do so.
Now, we have a political party who is determined to transform the United States of America into something else than it's been, all so they can be the elite leaders, and everyone else the serfs.
Imagine, they are against free speech and the 2nd Amendment.
Maybe they really don't like the 4th amendment either, and now likely don't like the 5th.
When you start looking to change things, it never stops at the original few items that's mentioned, so be careful what you wish for.

The Democrats are not a political party but a criminal conspiracy. A kakistocracy. I will never vote again for a Democrat politician. The Progressive project has become an evil tragedy. I have no doubt if conservatives controlled as much of the culture as long as liberals have they too would become corrupt as Nero, but as Henry James said all the good, old things (he referred I believe to classical Greece) are conservative. It is a self-correcting political philosophy. So far.

How about limiting freedom of the (Lame Stream) press while you're at Chuckers? How about limiting the number of times you can rush to a microphone? Makes about as much sense.

This is truly frightening — not just that they want to curb our constitutional right to free speech, but that they’ve calculated that they can do it without political consequences. Where are the true patriots who will forcefully oppose them?

Isn't a part of a Senator and Representative's Oath of Office to "Support and defend the Constitution". Doesn't the First Amendment say specifically that "Congress shall make no law ...abridging the freedom of speech"? By calling for limits on freedom of speech, isn't Schumer, Durbin, and his Democrat cohorts in violation of their Oath of Office? They must be impeached or removed from office for violating the US Constitution!

Not gonna happen Senator but good luck with that if you think 2/3 of the States will ratify it. This reminds me of a senator that said there is too much consumin' goin' on in the economy and how he needs to figure out a way to stop it. Right after that, we had a big crash of the economy in 2008-9. I can not believe the all-out efforts the dimwits are going to in their relentless efforts to undermine and destroy the Constitution. We need to man up suit up and show up and fight these sworn enemies within.

Like we've said in the past; Democrats are un-American Socialist fifth-columnists that should be arrested for treason or sedition.
Now we know he opposes the very foundations of our freedom. He meets the criteria. He is a tyrant.

For decades the dems have been nibbling away at our Constitutional freedoms by filling the courts with judges who defiled the plain meaning of the Constitution in favor of "living" form of law that strips away our rights. But now, somewhat before Trump and certainly after him the judges are swinging to interpret the Constitution as written and intended.
That is creating a disaster for the Left as their agenda is being unmade. It is amusing that winning a presidential and Congressional election to get the right to appoint their type of judges would seem to be far easier than driving through amendments to the Constitution. In fact, for the types of changes they advocate, it would seem an impossible task. Thusly, they are unserious in what they propose for changes to free speech, just as they are unserious in what they propose for changes to the Electoral College and the selection of Senators. None of this is going to happen.
So why talk about it? Changes to the Constitution are serious works. Assaults on freedom such as those proposed by the dems are sure to incite a backlash that could drive people away from voting for the dems. Do they think they are going to shore up the fanatics already committed to them? All this absurd talk, including an impeachment that will never be tried in the Senate makes me wonder if the dems have really lost their minds. What can they gain from this insanity?

It is horrifying to realize that this truly fascist policy will be automatically approved by four of the Supremes, no questions asked. Both Schemer and Udall must be impeached for violating their oaths of office.

Fortunately it takes 2/3 of the Congress and 3/4 of the states to amend the Constitution. Schumer would have a better chance of swimming backstroke to the moon.

Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Alaska, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, West Virginia, New Hampshire, Georgia, South Carolina - this is 21 states I think would be against it even without going to Florida or North Carolina or Ohio. So if the Dems want to pursue this fine. It takes either 38 or 39 states to ratify an amendment.

He is a lying, political opportunist Horse's Hind End. He knows he is lying.
The specific intent of the First Amendment was to protect political speech, and not somebodies right to say something else.
Schumer would need to improve a whole lot to be merely a worthless, lying slime.

Like the sort of odd-looking guy in the horror flick, sooner or later the grotesque inner creature emerges. Now Schumer has always been a camera hog and a creepo sort of bloke. But he's of the Left, and also, sooner or later the inner totalitarian monster will emerge. This is true for ALL of these leftist Dems.

How about just amending federal and state law to make it a felony for a politician to lie to the public Chuckie? That's called public service for which you know nothing about.
