The Air Force has begun to look at whether there’s increased risk for prostate cancer among its fighter pilots. A new investigation by McClatchy shows just how serious the problem may be.
The fighter pilot study was requested by Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein after he was contacted by concerned veterans service organizations in 2018, according to the report obtained by McClatchy.
At the heart of the Air Force study was a question of whether extended exposure in the cockpit to radiation may be linked to increased risk of prostate cancer.

I doubt it's related to radiation, fighter pilots get much less than bombers, tankers and trash haulers. There must be some other reason...maybe like a having higher percentage of the affected tissue just causes it to be more common?

Kind of strange. We know radiation can cause cancer but one of the ways to treat cancer is through radiation, perhaps especially prostate cancer. I don't know the whys and wherefores though.

An airliner flight across the US exposes passengers to less radiation that a chest x-ray. The impact of this type of exposure would be a very slight increase in the chance of cancer later in life, and that increased chance would be well under 0.5% for most pilots (reference: https://theconversation.com/air-travel-exposes-you-to-radiation-how-much-health-risk-comes-with-it-78790, an interesting article on the subject). Even with this tiny chance I'd say it would be worth it to develop clothes, suits, and uniforms to try to decrease radiation exposure for all pilots that frequently fly at airliner altitudes and above. Seems like it would be a relatively small investment, and if it could further reduce the chances then why not?

More likely, their "package" gets overheated in flight suits and the various parachute garb they have to wear when flying.

Bomber pilots and airline passengers ride in metal-skinned aircraft, which provides more protection from the radiation. Fighter pilots sit under a Perspex, or other non-metal canopy, and get no such protection. It is true that fighter pilots have more testosterone than bomber pilots, or the population in general. That's no sh..., er lie!

Maybe market gurus have hit upon prostate cancer because mesothelioma hasn't been working out for them. And all the Fly By Night law firms must hire attorney-looking actors to sound serious and compassionate. That takes time. Follow the 800 numbers.

Fighter pilots do not spend a relatively long time in the air due to the enormous fuel consumption of their planes but I heard that this same study done on flight attendants had results that were not promising.

If there was an increased risk due to radiation I would expect it to show up in those that have spent lengthy times in space.

How long before those feel good Death Party retards in Congress propose a law to outlaw jets and their pilots? Oh wait, the new Green Deal will completely ban all airplanes so they don't have to worry about it.
