If you are a 1980s and 1990s Republican Rip Van Winkle, just awakened after 20 years asleep, you must think you’re still asleep and suffering from nightmares. You just wouldn't be able to believe that:
The party of fiscal conservatism is now in favor of spending the country into oblivion. The party’s leader in the House makes pathetic excuses for the big spending, plus the Republican president actually boasts about it.
The party seems completely unconcerned that the Kremlin ran a massive operation to undermine U.S. elections, and is continuing its efforts.

Obama knew about russian meddling in 2014. All he did then was tell them to stop it!

Meddle, Meddle.. Running ads on Facebook is not meddling any more than the DNC running ads on Facebook. Wikileaks has said that the Russians were not the source of the pilfered emails. So, what meddling?? Besides the US does much the same thing trying to influence foreign elections.

Losers? Cowards with kick me signs on their backs? Yeah, I remember. We are running up deficits, that happens in times of war. The nation wasn’t in peril of destruction from the NAZIs or the Japanese, but it is from the modern Leftists. If we need to run up the numbers to keep the public from going Communist and handing the keys over to any foreign nationals who want to eat off our gravy-train, there are worse things.

The 'principled GOP' got us into two wars in Iraq, let Democrats take over the White House and Congress with barely a whimper, and opened the doors to illegal alien invaders.

Quin Hillyer has retweeted that Mueller was awesome. He appears to support just about everything that President Trump and we Deplorables are against.
I do not trust those who write for the Examiner. Isn’t its owner a lefty?

1980s and 1990s are still there, with the single, spectacular exception of President Trump, who fights back, who bites back.
Let's not kid ourselves. 2019 Republicans will not pass up the chance to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Rebooblicans all.

If you were from the 1980's and saw the Media today, it would be unrecognizable. No longer even pretending to be anything but the Propaganda arm of the Democrat Party.

Where is the outrage over Chinese meddling going back to the Clinton-Gore regime and going on every day?
Where is the outrage over the Obama-Mexican conspiracy?
The actual, documented conspiracy between the Obama-Dem-HRC and the Russians?

It is far easier to spot an OATH-serving republican than to weed out all the R.I.N.O.s (republicans in name only...for those who are uninformed...(not many here)).
There is a 10% INTEGRITY level in our 'government'. The Founders knew this possibility, but never thought 'THE PEOPLE' would ever be so damned STUPID to be conned each and every day by lies and deceit.
Thank a 'teacher'.

Amen, ladydawgfan!
There was a time the Republicans were reliably AGAINST big government and BIG spending but now it is the excuse that "at least Hitlery didn't get elected" or it would be WORSE!

This is the Never Trump/Uniparty response to support Mueller and keep the drumbeat going - as bi-partisan. It targets those who continue to believe the GOPe is in political conflict with the Dems, saving America from socialism or communism or whatever, and that PDT is a lunatic. They’re waiting for conditions allowing white knight Mitt to emerge to save the Republic.

As a person having the last name Van Winkle, I protest the misuse of my name. :-) This writer has a few weak points...but he comes off as a AOC type hard lefty. Trump isn't perfect. But the alternative was out of the question. I vote DT, and live with his imperfections, because he's not trying to get rich from the job.

FTA: "The party seems completely unconcerned that the Kremlin ran a massive operation to undermine U.S. elections, and is continuing its efforts."
Assuming Russia did try to meddle in the 2016 elections, it is troubling that we hear nothing from this administration regarding safeguarding the 2020 election, from Russian, Chinese, or any foreign governments or especially from cheating democrats. Even if Moscow thought Trump would further their interests more than would Hillary in 2016, which makes no sense taken at face value, it would make sense that they would want a democrat (communist) to oust him in the next election, if only to help expedite America's demise . China would seem to have a larger incentive than Russia for election mischief, as they would benefit from fellow Mao worshipers, plus no democrat wants to play hardball on trade tariffs or on surrendering vital sea lanes to the Chinese. I believe that the greatest threat to 2020 comes from our country's own left, which hates those of us who voted for Trump more than they hate Trump.

If you were against all of the spending in the past and don’t seem to mind it with Trump as president, you are a hypocrite. I guess most Republicans will go along with it because it’s better than having Hillary for president, and no criticism of Trump is allowed.

There is no such thing as a principled political party. They are all made up of liars and thieves, and exist only to increase their own power. The only thing voters have to do is decide which one costs them less in terms of money and freedom.

You can tell how low information this guy is by how he blames Trump for the failure to repeal the ACA. As anyone paying attention knows, it was John McCain who defeated the effort to repeal. McCain lied repeatedly on this issue. How about that as an example of Republican "principles?"

Good Lawd, what a screed!! SOMEONE is bitter that the Mueller Spectacular failed to bring down President Trump!! I was a Republican back in the 90's and I well remember the party back then. It was the same milquetoast party that ran the ancient and unelectable Bob Dole because it was his turn, the same party that continually crossed the aisle" to compromise core beliefs in order to kiss leftist butts and look good in the press, and the same party that refused to fight for the people who put them in office because "we are better than that!!" Now we have fighting Bulldogs in both Congress and the Presidency and the milquetoast faction of the GOP just can't take all of the winning. AFAIC, they can take their milquetoast ruminations and stick 'em where the Good Lord split 'em!!
