House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on Friday that comprehensive immigration reform and a higher minimum wage would do more to lift Gross Domestic Product than the "tax scam" passed by Republicans. She said those factors would produce "a more compassionate free-market system."Pelosi spoke shortly after the Commerce Department announced that real gross domestic product increase at an annual rate of 2.1 percent in the second quarter, down from 3.1 percent in the first quarter. The Commerce Department noted that consumer spending, the "engine of the U.S. economy," surged at an annual 4.3 percent rate in the second quarter, as spending on goods rose at the fastest rate since
Let me guess, she wants to take back the tax cuts, so they can spend more money despite the comment from the Commerce Department - that consumer spending, the "engine of the U.S. economy,"
Democrats don't seem to remember the more you tax, and regulate, the tax payers, the worse the economy (ask Obama).

I'm all for corporate tax cuts, but there also has to be an amendment to the cuts specifying that a certain percentage of the tax cut needs to go to those that work for the company. Giving 15% tax cuts to corporations is fine, but no so they can buy back their own stock and stiff those that do the service or make the products for the corporations. This fact is exactly what has happened with the company I work for, and the employees are not happy about it. 2% increases in pay while the company is making 30+% profits for the last two years while still crying poor is not a recipe for morale enhancement. It's this type of stuff that started union growth 100 years ago. Look for unions to make a comeback if this continues.

It boggles the imagination that she can speak of a free market in the same breath with mandatory minimum wages

Read Ayn Rand's story about the fictional "Twentieth Century Motor Company" to see how this sort of thing ends.

A more compassionate free-market system? Ain't that nice. Of course the devil is in the details, and Nancy Pelosi knows her devils.

To the leftist and liberal Democrats the code words “comprehensive immigration reform” actually means a huge amnesty for up to just about all the 22 million or more, poor, uneducated, and socialist oriented illegal aliens now believed to be in the USA, who the Democrats believe would be future natural Democrat socialist voters in a massive plurality that would permanently change the voter demographics of enough of the USA to keep them (the Democrats) in permanent political power, thus sending the wimpy Republicans into long-term political oblivion.
If instead the Congress passed a new law making all aliens who entered the country unlawfully or who overstayed a temporary visa time limit and who accepted any sort of amnesty or legalization program driven legal status be considered to permanently be ineligible for US citizenship and US voting rights, it would not be long before the Democrats would quickly move on, and no longer support mass uncontrolled illegal immigration, once they figured out that they could no longer derive any future political benefit, in the form of future socialist oriented voters, from masses of illegal aliens who have gained, are now gaining, or who will in the future gain unlawful entry to the USA.

Yeah, Nancy. I want them just to give me free stuff because I'm a minority. I showed up for work 2 days, so why didn't I get my full salary? I am a minority woman, so why can't I have a parking place in front of the building? I can walk, but I prefer to use my little scooter. Why does my employer have a problem with that? I have a dozen questions you haven't tired to answer yet.

Yes Nancy. We realize you live in a walled compound in (mob) San Francisco because your (mob) family practices a compassionate free market system in drugs, prostitution, guns, loan sharking (compassionate sharks though),grand theft, extortion and fish.

Smoke and mirrors! Nan, why don’t you just admit you just want to raise taxes.

No, compassion means taking care of the American citizens who vote and pay taxes. Maybe you should lift the elderly and disabled out of poverty.
It would be compassionate if your squad shut up.
