Something's changed about Ted Cruz – and it’s not just the beard.
First, there was the common ground with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Then, there was the push for people to donate supplies to detained migrants at the border. Then, Cruz called out Tennessee for honoring a Confederate Army general with an ugly past.
Is the senator from Texas – the unapologetic conservative who ran for president in 2016 saying Republicans win by painting “in bold colors, not pale pastels”– making a conscious effort to expand his appeal beyond conservatives?
“I do think it’s intentional,” said Brendan Steinhauser, a Republican consultant based in Austin who was active in the Tea Party movement. Steinhauser

The influence of Austin is rearing it's ugly head.

It’s Saikat Chakrabarti Mr Cruz needs to address. Opening a line of communication with AOC is like talking to Kermit the Frog while not noticing the hands operating the puppet.

If a lefty wanted to run in a predominantly Republican area, they would run as a Republican, and with the help of the media, hide their true intentions.
Time will tell regarding Ted Cruz.

Oh... I doubt this article very much. No, I didn't bother to read it. Headline likely click-bait. Fox is becoming faux news as well.

He was never what he wanted Texans to believe and it took a while for us to peg him. That's why he got a scare from Robert Francis O'Rourke.

I don't know what to think here. I met Senator Cruz at a rally in Kalamazoo, Michigan in the spring of 2016. As things spun down to two candidates, I wanted to get to know him better. I had 'connections,' and was able to meet him behind the scenes. We were told that we each had roughly 30 to 45 seconds to speak with the Senator.
It was an emotional situation for me then and it is still difficult to write about this. We had been living in Florida, and my wife had had a stroke at work. The hospital she had worked at for roughly ten years sent her to a specialist over in Clearwater and he told her that she wouldn't be able to return to work. We didn't make it five blocks from his office when we got a call telling her that she was being 'let go.' Long story short, she got her accumulated sick and vacation time and then she got one check from her Short Term Disability company (PRUDENTIAL!) before they cut her off. The clown that had her account told me that he thought she was faking it.
We moved back to Michigan where we had family. Because we had no money, no insurance, my wife wasn't being properly treated. The 'Social Services' department refused to help because of her previous large salary. Long story short, we were losing everything we owned and my wife was deteriorating rapidly. Knowing the time limit, I gathered every document I had or could find to support my wife's case. I also had typed up nine pages of background with names and telephone numbers.
I handed my folder to the Senator and explained as much as I could in the time I had. I wish I could tell you that I didn't break down, but I can't say that truthfully. He gave me a hug, and told me that he would 'do what he could to help.' He gave the material to an aide and told him to 'look in to it.' I left the arena and headed home. It was about a 90 minute drive for me, and just as I was pulling into the home driveway, I got a call from the local social services office. They wanted me to come down to talk. Minutes later, I got a call from the state office, telling me that there 'must have been some kind of confusion on my part.' I told them both that there had been no confusion, it was plain and simple the woman who we were dealing with was being a real female dog.
Long story short, we did begin to get the help we needed, but it came a year too late. My wife faded away mentally and then physically. She died just before Christmas of 2017. I wrote a book about our life that sells well on Amazon. "I Remember Judy - A Love Story."
I will always be beholden to the Senator for his help when no one else would. I pray that he hasn't begun to swing to the center, but I can't forget what he did for us.

Wait a minute. Aren't we supposed to "cooperate" when we can with the folks across the aisle. We may not like illegal immigrants, undocumented Democrats, whatever you call them, but I doubt if many of us want to really keep them in concentration camps and not offer them the basic necessities of life while in our care. Well, AOC and the Dems might (even though they say otherwise).
Of course, it's usually Republicans capitulating to Democrat demands.

#6 I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your pain with all of us. It is important for people to know they should contact their state insurance commission and their senator if they find themselves in a similar situation.
Ted is a mixed bag of tricks.
