Whether by accident or by design, President Trump has alighted upon the exact right solution for ascertaining the truest enumeration of American citizens. Not only that, but his workaround solution should have been done regardless of the recent opinion by the Supreme Court. That is, even if the Court had found that the administration could include the citizenship question in the census, Trump should still have directed his agencies, especially the Social Security Administration, to have their computer programmers write simple little programs to count up the people on their databases by citizen and all other categories.Americans who care about citizenship or just the corruption of our data should rejoice

I hardly think it was accidental. Every parasite on the dole in this country has his vital information behind a list of freebies somewhere. Very few of them will even complete a census form for fear of being identified. Don't forget the hospital lists of emergency room patients and resulting births of anchor babies.

Yes, the census is really obsolete for most of the data it attempts to collect. Back in the day, it was the only way to get an estimate for the issues of interest. Now, between the IRS, welfare rolls, and the Birth Certificate count, we can get a much more accurate count of how many people live in each state.
We don't need to know names, just numbers.
The number of taxpayers are known to the IRS. Dependents claimed in each household is documented.
Welfare rolls, that include people who don't pay taxes to the IRS, can be analyzed and taxpayers who receive benefits can be sorted out.
Birth certificate records are accurate for nearly everyone still living.
There will be small errors, but they will be far, far more accurate than anything we can get with the census. The radical left democrats will be wishing they had let the census question stand!

This census fight is far from over. First point of attack will be the legitimacy of any numbers derived from databases and the use of logarithms.

Isn't there a law prohibiting comparing the SSA database to the IRS database to find fraud??
Some "immigrants" claim EITC for a dozen "children" that don't exist!

Not an accident.
I would LOVE to see Cali lose about 4 or 5 seats in the House. It is easy to imagine (especially if you have been in Cali lately) that 15-20% of the people in the state are illegals. So with 53 seats, losing 15% would be 8 or 10 fewer seats if these illegals are discounted.
THAT would be really good for the country.

There are two reasons why the leftist and liberal Democrats refuse to secure the borderline, sabotage all reasonable immigration law enforcement efforts, and have established their “Sanctuary Cities” concept to represent and support mass uncontrolled illegal immigration.
In the short term the leftist and liberal Democrats know that the vast majority of illegal aliens, who are poor, uneducated, and socialist minded people from either underdeveloped or undeveloped countries, once inside the USA, will travel to and will sojourn in mostly inner city immigrant and low income communities where the Democrats are politically dominant. With the 2020 Census coming up, it is clear from Democrat obstruction of President Trump placing the US citizenship question on the census, that the Democrats want as many illegal aliens as possible to be counted in the census while living in those Democrat dominated areas and communities, so that their numbers will pad the raw population figures that are likely to trigger reapportionment processes to move additional Congressional Districts into those areas and communities based upon those increased raw population figures, making it much more likely that Democrat socialist candidates can get elected in those new congressional districts with relatively low vote counts since the high alien populations in those constituencies cannot legally vote in US elections. Such a situation also triggers much more federal monies being directed to those areas and communities that can be doled out to favored liberal and socialist entities there.
In the long term the leftist and liberal Democrats plan to grant future US voting rights through a “comprehensive immigration reform” based amnesty and “path to citizenship” to just about the entire current illegal alien population that is now authoritatively believed to exceed 22 million mostly all poor, uneducated, and socialist minded people who the Democrats believe will emerge as natural Democrat socialist voters. With that many new socialist oriented voters the Democrat socialists would attain permanent political power through enough areas of the country to overwhelm the current “Deplorable” voter base and keep the Democrat socialists in permanent political power and sending the wimpy Republicans into political oblivion, with the Democrats then able to transform the USA into a socialist utopia.
The Supreme Court that has set itself up as the final interpreter of the intent of all aspects of the US Constitution, could knock out the reapportionment of Congressional seats that now favor the Democrats by their using illegal alien population figures to pad up population figures, by redefining the word “People” of the USA in the 14th Amendment to mean US citizens, and not aliens for congressional reapportionment purposes. The Congress could also pass legislation making all illegal aliens who entered the USA unlawfully, or who overstayed temporary visa time limits, permanently statutorily ineligible for naturalized US citizenship.

Back in the day, it was the only way to get a count of US citizens in each state for apportioning the number of Representatives that each state could send to the House of Representatives. It was not intended that non-citizens (such as an invading force) be represented. Through the years, other questions were add to provide more information about US citizens and non-citizens living here. Only recently the citizenship question was removed to be replace by an "estimate" to be made by some government bureaucrats, Without data, the accuracy of the "estimate" is totally dependent on the integrity of the government bureaucrats,
Disregarding the partisan scandals of government bureaucrats, we are assured we should not be concerned about the accuracy and fairness of the "estimate." I don't by it. SCOTUS failed us.
