A high-profile conservative leader called Thursday for the impeachment of Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. after he provided the crucial fifth vote in the Supreme Court decision heading off President Trump’s goal of including a question on citizenship on the 2020 census. Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union and husband of top Trump White House aide Mercedes Schlapp, said the ruling showed the chief justice was not the conservative-minded jurist he’d been touted to be, noting his previous decision essentially preserving Obamacare. “I’m for impeaching the chief justice for lying to all of us about his support

I was shocked and disappointed by this Bush choice when he single-handily saved Obamacare. His further rulings only added to the insult. He is a fraud, pure and simple. Impeach, yes!

So what if he doesnt believe the reason for the question? It’s legal.
Impeachment is not a good idea. But ignoring the ruling is a possibility. There has to be a new way to overrule bad Supreme Court decisions.

I thought Robert's reasoning in the citizenship question case was contrived, and question his motives, which seem insincere. What a vicious fraud this man has turned out to be! It is unbearable to see his grin, after he has stabbed us in the back.

My hope is he is acting the liberal/moderate in order to get RBG to get comfortable with the idea of retirement.

Regardless of what you think of Roberts' opinion, this is a really bad idea. Even the mention of it fuels the argument that Trump is a tyrant.

Roberts' nervous smile is a key. I still say the dems have something on him. Something
creepy. Now and then, one of Schumer's lawyers calls him and suggests that
it would be good for him to vote a certain way.

I'm for impeaching him for failing to adhere to separation of powers. His Obamacare rewriting went far outside the limits of what any court, or justice is permitted.

Instead, Let Trump on the next nomination pull one from his TV show and nominater the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and tell Roberts he is fired form that role. Ther is no law or consitutional requirement that the Chief Justice is appointed for life. So fire him from that role and let Roberts assume his comfortable position with lying Kagan, racist, sexist Soytomeyer and Clueless in DC Beyer (asumes the passed out drunk at the State of the Union Ruthie is having a nice tea with Satan).

#9 Have we reached a point where the Democrats/media calling Trump a ‘tyrant’ actually matters? Seriously? Roberts swore an oath to the Constitution - not to his personal opinions. And he has relied on them more than once.

I hear that the premise of Robert's change of mind is that Obama has something over him. If this is true then I also believe that Trump knows about it. When they clean up the lesser guards, then they'll go after the big boys and girls. After that, the residuals will be free or gone. Why did Lindsey do a 180? Who was gone when that happened. Hint. Arizona No Name.

This could be another type of bait and switch. The SCOTUS has given the Executive the option of coming back before it with a 'better' explanation. There are a series of 5/4 Conservative decisions coming down. The Court loses a lot of its legitimacy and respect if it appears to be one sided. This works mostly on the Conservative side. The Liberal justices don't seem to care. But there it is. It is possible CJ Roberts wants to have the 'saucer effect' to cool down tempers and then approve it anyway. Balance this with his doing away with Federal meddling with jerrymandering. My advice, be patient.

Not going to happen, sadly. But Roberts is tuning into a traitor, bit by bit. Disgusting to see these
SOBs do this. Apparently endless drumbeat of leftism in DC area just slowly sways the ones with
weak minds or weak/little convictions. Sad, and very destructive.

It appears to me that Roberts, as Chief Justice, is more concerned about how "his" court will be perceived in history. He apparently does not want it to be too conservative or too liberal but "balanced". Thus, his decisions are based not on the law or Constitution, but on whether there have been too many conservative or liberal decisions already passed down. Don't ever rely on Roberts, he will disappoint.

Roberts should have refused his SC nomination knowing his children were illegally adopted. If the tables were turned I would have done the same but would also know it was wrong as it is illegal to adopt children with an Irish mother outside of Ireland. It is called privilege. He and his wife had the financial and demographic privilege to do so and did. But, it clouds his rulings and makes him susceptible to blackmail.

Bush appointed Alito. That was a great pick. Give credit where it's due. Personally, I think Roberts was a OK pick, even if he's not always delivering the opinions that conservatives would like. His legal reasoning, to the extent I've followed it, does not stray too far off into left field. A disinterested observer on Mars might even think it's not a bad idea for the chief justice to be a centrist kind of guy.
