Especially Roberts

Today the Supreme Court issued two major opinions with profound implications for American politics. It blocked, for now, adding a question about citizenship on the 2020 Census in Department of Commerce vs. New York. In Rucho v. Common Cause, the Court permanently killed off allowing federal courts to decide that a legislative map gave one side too much of a partisan advantage. It was a bad day for the right, a very bad day for the left, and an extremely bad day for Chief Justice John Roberts. First, the very bad day for the left. For years, the institutional left has been trying to strip state legislatures of power

Another gift from the Bush family. Two questions. 1. Why would an executive decision like what questions are included in the Census be subject to SC review? 2. Why did Thomas and Alito concur?

I just don't understand why asking someone if they are a citizen on the census needs to go to the Supreme Court. This is a common sense question. What I really don't understand is why anyone who is supposed to be conservative would oppose the question.

Apparently the census question isn't completely dead in the future. But it is defunct for the 2020 election. That's ok. We can survive that wait. I believe the gerrymandering decision is far more important to conservatives, our party and the protection of our votes from the George Soroses of the political world. This is better than a half-loaf day. It's about a three-quarter loaf day.

The SC is supposed to decide things based on the law and the Constitution - not on what seems "reasonable", which is always a matter of individual opinion.

Well Roberts did define Obamacare as a tax to justify his support for Obama. Didn’t he say when Kavanaugh was confirmed he would not allow the S.C. to go conservative? Roberts is the biggest disappointment in DC. Isn’t it odd the libs on the court never bend but the so called conservatives bend & twist like a pretzel.

Roberts doesn't think there are Obama judges because he is one, just like CNN and MSNBC don't think the media is biased, because they are. I hope the Republicans can gerrymander out, Sheila Jackson-Lee, Mad Maxine, Schiffhead and Swalwell, for a start.

If the citizenship question on the census is constitutional and lawful, why would the Supreme Court want to delve into the preliminary deliberative process and fact finding that the Secretary of Commerce used to get that question on the 2020 Census? Since the court has decided that the question being on the Census is constitutional and legal today’s court decision that could delay that question until the 2030 Census really serves no useful purpose but to clog up the federal courts that will now have to hold additional hearings on the matter, which in the end will end up on the Census either in 2020 or 2030.

The Death Party is getting their wish - count the illegals so they can get more seats in Congress through apportionment.

#10 has it right. The reason for a Census is to properly apportion members of the House of Representatives. Representatives of whom? In school I learned that the House represents Citizens. What did I miss?
Our Social Contract is between Citizens, who consent to be governed by their elected officials, That, at least, constituted the notion of a Republic. Instead of polling everybody on every issue, responsible individuals act in concert to implement the will of the Citizens. That is how I read Federalist.
To hold otherwise is to fundamentally change the Contract. Are we now to be governed by occupants, regardless of their loyalty? Is knowledge of our founding Principles no longer needed? Justice Roberts appears to rewrite the Compact in order to please the Democrats. We are apparently to be governed by illegal immigrants who do not respect our laws. I guess they will elect representatives who will implement new laws and make Marx our official God.
