Maine’s Democratic governor signed a bill into law this week that allows medical professionals other than doctors to perform abortions. The bill was introduced by Gov. Janet Mills and signed on Monday, allowing nurse practitioners, physician assistants and certified nurse-midwives to provide abortion medication as well as perform in-clinic abortions.(Snip) “By signing this bill into law, Maine is defending the rights of women and taking a step towards equalizing access to care as other states are seeking to undermine, rollback, or outright eliminate these services.” Most states only permit physicians to perform abortions.

OP is right about Dems being in love with death. So who else can perform abortions in Maine? Car mechanics? Nail salons? What evil.

There's that lib euphemism (dog whistle?) again.... "women's reproductive health." What that really means is butchering unborn children.

Nothing about this is good, plus it screams of those so called back alley abortions where nothing but trouble happens.

I suppose Maine has never heard of the law of unintended consequences.

They should also allow actual butchers to kill the babies. They'd do a neater job than the midwives.
How's that for "women's reproductive health"?

What could ever go wrong in a scenario like this? Are they just awful or what?

#5 is right. At least butcher's subjects are dead and can feel no pain prior to evisceration. We are kinder to animals than the unborn.

There are a host of problems with this, but here is one that is going to cause a lot of trouble. Assume one of these 'less than fully qualified' providers perforates pregnant woman's uterus and puts a hole in the adjacent colon. The misadventure may not be immediately evident, but stool loose in the abdominal cavity will cause rather serious problems. The 'provider' that did the abortion is not a qualified surgeon and doesn't have hospital privileges and thus can't address the matter. The patient winds up in the ED and the surgeon on call is stuck with the train wreck. If things don't go real well, who do you think is going to be the target of the malpractice lawsuit? The abortion clinic probably doesn't have insurance and the 'provider' that perforated the uterus and colon is not a deep pocket. The real victim here will be the hapless on call surgeon who is merely trying to fix the misadventure of the less than fully qualified abortionist. Admittedly, this situation currently exists, but at least the abortionists are physicians and presumably are required to carry insurance or have some other way of discharging an adverse judgment.

Meanwhile, god fearing Christians and freedom loving conservatives, by all means, keep having babies!
Hubby and I had three kids, got six grandkids, gun toting conservatives all, we’re sitting on nine great grands now and God willing, they’ll all be conservatives too.
I know that does nothing about the wholesale butchery that’s going on and I hate it and grieve for the little lost ones.
How many, many years have we fought this evil and tried to stop it?
But they are aborting themselves out of existence.
Our civilization has some hard and damning questions to answer when we stand before our lord.

I bet the Maine governor is not going to allow non-electricians to wire her next house.....
Or maybe she IS that dumb.
(Full disclosure: I am not an electrician, but I DO do all of my own wiring... and plumbing, and construction. etc.)

It always galls me when I remember that this same tribe of psychos aka leftists called GI’s returning from Viet Nam “baby killers” even though no one sent soldiers to VN for the express purpose of killing babies. I guess it’s only ok to kill babies if that is your intent.

Decades back, women's rights groups clamored for legalizing abortion to take it away from alleyway hacks around the nation... and they just keep creeping back to the alleyways.

Save your coat hangers and send them to Maine’s Democratic governor. If their going to use non-physicians, they might as well use primitive tools.

So, we have come full circle. How is an abortion performed by a non-doctor anything other than a "back-alley" abortion?
No big deal. The equivalent of a midwife in their minds, I suppose.

I can't help but thinking of that Vietnam war saying... Kill them all and let God sort them out. That should be the new Planned Parenthood/Democrat slogan.

So much for the decision being a matter between a woman and her doctor. Next, we'll hear that the amateur abortionist has an office in a back alley. If the woman is injured, may she sue for malpractice?

What's the difference between that and using a coat hangar on yourself? The Death Party is openly brazen about it now.

The Democrats are head over heels in love with death. Can we expect an Abortion Pride Month in the future, maybe with Abortion Pride parades?
