Maine gov signs bill allowing
non-doctors to perform abortions

Maine’s Democratic governor signed a bill into law this week that allows medical professionals other than doctors to perform abortions. The bill was introduced by Gov. Janet Mills and signed on Monday, allowing nurse practitioners, physician assistants and certified nurse-midwives to provide abortion medication as well as perform in-clinic abortions.(Snip) “By signing this bill into law, Maine is defending the rights of women and taking a step towards equalizing access to care as other states are seeking to undermine, rollback, or outright eliminate these services.” Most states only permit physicians to perform abortions.

Comments:

The Democrats are head over heels in love with death. Can we expect an Abortion Pride Month in the future, maybe with Abortion Pride parades?

OP is right about Dems being in love with death. So who else can perform abortions in Maine? Car mechanics? Nail salons? What evil.

There's that lib euphemism (dog whistle?) again.... "women's reproductive health." What that really means is butchering unborn children.

They should also allow actual butchers to kill the babies. They'd do a neater job than the midwives. How's that for "women's reproductive health"?

There are a host of problems with this, but here is one that is going to cause a lot of trouble. Assume one of these 'less than fully qualified' providers perforates pregnant woman's uterus and puts a hole in the adjacent colon. The misadventure may not be immediately evident, but stool loose in the abdominal cavity will cause rather serious problems. The 'provider' that did the abortion is not a qualified surgeon and doesn't have hospital privileges and thus can't address the matter. The patient winds up in the ED and the surgeon on call is stuck with the train wreck. If things don't go real well, who do you think is going to be the target of the malpractice lawsuit? The abortion clinic probably doesn't have insurance and the 'provider' that perforated the uterus and colon is not a deep pocket. The real victim here will be the hapless on call surgeon who is merely trying to fix the misadventure of the less than fully qualified abortionist. Admittedly, this situation currently exists, but at least the abortionists are physicians and presumably are required to carry insurance or have some other way of discharging an adverse judgment.

Meanwhile, god fearing Christians and freedom loving conservatives, by all means, keep having babies! Hubby and I had three kids, got six grandkids, gun toting conservatives all, we’re sitting on nine great grands now and God willing, they’ll all be conservatives too. I know that does nothing about the wholesale butchery that’s going on and I hate it and grieve for the little lost ones. How many, many years have we fought this evil and tried to stop it? But they are aborting themselves out of existence. Our civilization has some hard and damning questions to answer when we stand before our lord.

Federal law enforcement agencies knowingly invite foreigners, often with lengthy criminal records, into the U.S., sponsoring them for visas on the hope they’ll help out with an investigation. But in dozens of those cases the government has lost track of the people and agents were slow in reporting them to Homeland Security, allowing the trail to go cold in efforts to track down, according to a Justice Department inspector general’s report released Wednesday. From 2015 to 2017 the Justice Department sponsored roughly 5,500 immigrants for deferred deportation, an S visa or parole into the U.S. In about 20% of those cases
