President Donald Trump telegraphed to the American people that Attorney General William Barr’s investigation into the origins of the Russia collusion hoax is going international. The first hint that something of an alliance existed between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the international reach of the Deep State was provided by Michael Morell. Morell has served as both acting and deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency (2010-2013).

During the Japanese bombardment of Shanghai in 1932, the Austrian essayist Karl Kraus was anguishing over the placement of commas in a column. It might seem futile at such a moment, he told a friend, but “if those who are obliged to look after commas had always made sure they were in the right place, then Shanghai would not be burning.” George Orwell made a kindred observation about the importance of having the courage to call things by their real names. Euphemism, the counterfeit of good manners, is the enemy of truth, which is the only ally worth having.

In June of 2016, the British people voted to reject the European Union’s authoritarian rule over the UK and reassert their sovereignty. And so, Brexit was a big winner at the polls. But two years later, Britain remains a vassal state to the bureaucratic minions of the EU. All due to the inaction of the ruling Conservative Party, also known as the Tories. A party once shepherded by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who said: “I had the patriotic conviction that, given great leadership of the sort I heard from Winston Churchill in the radio broadcasts to which we listened, there was almost nothing that the British people could not do.”
Ex-FBI Lawyer: Carter Page FISA application approved in unusual way by McCabe, Yates, and Baker 6 replies

A former top lawyer for the FBI described to lawmakers the “unusual” way the surveillance request targeting former Trump campaign associate Carter Page was handled by top leadership at the Justice Department and FBI, according to a transcript released this week. On Aug. 31, 2018, former FBI Deputy General Counsel Trisha Anderson said she was normally responsible for signing off on Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act applications before they reached the desk of her superiors for approval. Anderson said the “linear path” those applications typically take was upended in October 2016, with FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates signing off on the application before she did.

There’s an old saying in sports that “you can’t tell the players without a scorecard.” That same adage applies to Middle East politics. For example, in Saudi Arabia, the English daily newspaper Arab News – or “The Green Flash” as it is called by ex-patriots because of its green-tinted cover pages – reports that the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces “intercepted and destroyed two missiles launched from Yemen by Iran-aligned Houthi militias on Monday.”

Not unlike a little sister screaming that the world belongs to her, Senator Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) is now comparing President Trump to a dictator. Like Joseph Stalin or Saddam Hussein. Mussolini or Kim Jong-Un. Mazies undies are in a bunch because President Trump told Iran leader Rouhani to think twice before issuing threats against the United States.

President Trump has directed former White House Counsel Don McGahn to skip a House Judiciary Committee hearing scheduled for Tuesday, citing a Justice Department opinion that he cannot be compelled to testify about his official duties -- and, through his legal team, McGahn confirmed Monday evening that he won't appear. The development prompted an obstinate response late Monday from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y.: “We are having the hearing tomorrow and we’re expecting Mr. McGahn to show pursuant to the subpoena."

There are two courts of the world meant to ensure equality of justice: The Star Chamber of 17th Century England and the modern day FISA Court in America. England’s Star Chamber history (15th to 17th centuries) had good intentions. At least initially. Henry (Tutor) VII created the Star Chamber for the primary purpose of ensuring the fair enforcement of laws against socially and politically prominent people. Those people so powerful that ordinary courts would probably hesitate to convict them of their crimes.

No Democrat or Republican, let alone members of the media, have stated the obvious regarding the discredited Russia collusion hoax. That there was no collusion. Dead stop. Over. Not to mention the ensuing two-year investigative witch-hunt waged against President Donald Trump. The CIA and FBI abused their powers largely thanks to the Patriot Act. Ironically, this legislation was passed by a Republican-controlled Congress and signed into law by a Republican president.

John Durham, the prosecutor tapped by Attorney General William Barr to investigate how Trump-Russia allegations emerged and spread within federal law enforcement, has already been looking into whether the FBI’s former top lawyer, James Baker, illegally leaked to reporters. In fact, the U.S. attorney from Connecticut appears to have begun that work more than seven months ago, to judge from an underreported transcript of an October congressional interview with Baker.

Saturday, May 18, 2019 is Armed Forces Day, which is part of National Military Appreciation Month. During May, we recognize six different commemorations of our armed services: Loyalty Day, VE Day (the end of World War II in Europe on May 8, 1945), Armed Forces Day, Military Spouses Day and Memorial Day. In 1999, the late Sen. John McCain introduces legislation to designate May as National Military Appreciation Month. For the sake of remembering the value of those men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces, this single effort may be the best act of service Senator McCain achieved.

Markets thrive on competition. Unfortunately, this doesn’t just apply to real economic markets. It also applies to markets for bad ideas and political pandering. With approximately 200 Democrats now running for president (we lost count a few weeks ago), the bidding to bribe Iowa caucusgoers is becoming intense. This is unfortunate not just because it is unseemly but also because the offers are coming at the expense of the nation’s well-being and the environment’s health. The worst pander so far comes from Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. When she is not privately belittling her staff in ALL CAPS 4 a.m. emails, Klobuchar is attempting to gain

“Bombshell” best describes David Garrow’s lengthy piece “The Troubling Legacy of Martin Luther King.” The article not only obliterates what we think we know about one of the most beloved figures in American history, it, like a bombshell, hurts people. This includes the many admirers of Martin Luther King but also the various figures, including alleged paramours still alive, named in the article. The manner in which the government assembled the derogatory information on King — gathered with the approval of Democratic officials, including Attorney General Robert Kennedy, all feigning support for the civil rights leader — sickens in a literal sense. Using King’s association with various figures involved

Hillary Clinton and her daughter Chelsea Clinton are reportedly forming a Hollywood production company. The two have spoken to studios about financing, Bloomberg reported Thursday. The Clintons plan to build a pipeline of film and television programs that focus on stories about women or are created by women. Last year, the 71-year-old former Democratic presidential contender signed on to assist producing a show about the activists who helped get women the right to vote called “The Woman’s Hour.” The show is being adapted from a 2018 book by Elaine Weiss.
