Even many of the well known champions of the legalization of abortion have come out and ceclared outright that becuse of the puacity and reliabiliyt of the records concerning the numbers of abortions and the numbers of detahs from such abortions prior to legalization were simply p[lusked out of the air for the purpose of exercising moral and emtional blakcmail on the popualce to support the itntiative. The same thing applies to the issue of "backyard" and "metal coathanger" abortions. While no doubt they occurred as a result of self help based on "old wives tales" and the practices of shamans, witch doctors , and untrained unofficial "midwives" in ghettos in the most unhygienic of circumstances, and there are absolutely no records except possibly derived ones when women finished in hospitals for treatment as a consequence of botched abortions, the vast bulk of the "illegal abortions" took place in hospitals, doctors surgeries and qualified midwives' birthing centers, they were generally reported as "D and C" procedures (Dilation and curettage" procedure for gynecological reasons) to cover up what was in effect an illegal procedure. How many were Genuine D and C procedures and how many were illegal abortions is impossible to determine. Doctors and other medical personnel specialising in such practices were commonly known especially round colleges and university campuses.

The Left, again, has made up fake-numbers and fake-history. It's what they do. Orwell was prescient. Another bit of history the Left ignores or distorts: Pre-Roe, legal abortions in most states could be performed if a pregnancy was deemed to threaten a woman's life. Iirc, the question would go to a state-appointed panel of doctors.

They lie about gun use and deaths by gun, they lie about how illegals don't cost money but help the economy (?), they lie about how welfare and food stamps would only cost millions but ended up billions, etc. They just lie. Abortion "rights" have become the slippy-slope we always dreaded it would become. Killing a baby because you didn't want another girl/boy, there's a 50% chance there might be a minor genetic issue, found a new boyfriend, whatever. Sad.

Yep, making up numbers again. When the problem with AIDS first surfaced, the left immediately started touting the "potentially 1 million infected" myth. That number had absolutely no basis in fact, it was just used because it sounded like a huge problem that needed an immediate "solution" that involved billion$ to be spent on research.

Vile and nasty organization. They got themselves a real beaut of a Director now, being as how she was marinated in the One Child Only policy of China, thanks to her parents. They may have immigrated here when she was young, but that kind of indoctrination never goes away. She is the first actual head of PP in about 50 uears that is a doctor. First time I heard about this 'thousands of women dying from giving birth' or thousands of women dying from back alley abortions was Al Sharpton. That actually broke my heart, because he is supporting the genocide of his own community. How somebody can stand by and approve of htat is beyond my comprehension. These people will settle for no less than the wanton destruction of as many babies as they can get their hands on, and God weeps for those tiny ones.

Dr. Bernard Nathason was one of the co-founders of NARAL in February, 1969. He later became a pro-life activist. He admitted that he and the other two co-founders made up the number of one million illegal abortions committed each year. They simply plucked the number out of thin air.
