The Democrats and the Squanderer

Ever since the new Congress was sworn in on 3 January 2019, nearly five months ago, there have been nonstop clown shows led by Democrat leaders of House committees. House rules that were drawn by Speaker Pelosi in late 2018 were specific to target President Trump, leading to impeachment. The plan was sidetracked with the Weissmann-Mueller report findings. It does not matter that there is a crisis at the border. They took the Alfred E. Neuman slogan to heart: "What, me worry?"

When we think of unidentified flying objects (UFO), we tend to think of aliens, but we must remember that not all UFOs are extraterrestrial. (Video) The U.S. Navy has been reporting UFOs – suspected aircrafts encountered during flights that they can’t recognize or explain. The New York Times has collected some of their stories, including that of Lt. Ryan Graves, an F/A-18 Super Hornet pilot. Graves has been with the Navy for 10 years, but in 2014 and 2015, he saw something he couldn’t explain. The Times described the objects seen by Graves and other pilots as having “no visible engine or infrared exhaust plumes,” able to

Hurricane Katrina taught us many things, like how the media tailors its coverage of natural disasters based on political implications. But it also taught us that there will be times when residents cannot count on law enforcement and other government agencies to be there when needed. A scenario that has now been addressed to some extent by the Texas Senate, which passed a bill Sunday that would allow residents there who can legally own a firearm to be able to carry the weapon either open or concealed up to seven days after the state declares a natural disaster. House Bill 1177 passed by a narrow vote of 16-15

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX-2) is a Navy SEAL who lost his right eye during an IED explosion in Afghanistan in 2012. Even after losing his eye, Crenshaw continued to serve in the military before being medically retired in 2016. Though now a Congressman, Crenshaw has never forgotten the military veterans he knew and/or served with, some of who lost their lives fighting for their country. In a moving Memorial Day tribute, the freshman Congressman posted stories and photos of some of them, which you can read below: (Tweet)

In March 2015 a towering Michelle Obama met with Japanese Emperor Akihito. It was a low moment in American diplomacy. (Photo) Earlier in the day Michelle had an awkward start by stumbling as “she tried to bow, shake his hand and curtsy” all at once. (Video) Now compare that embarrassment to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump’s historic meeting with the Japanese emperor this weekend. (Photo) President Donald Trump and Melania Trump met Emperor Naruhito at Japan’s Imperial Palace on Monday, May 27. President Trump was the first foreign dignitary to meet with the new emperor in Japan.

It was exactly seven years ago, Memorial Day weekend 2012, that MSNBC's Chris Hayes admitted he was “uncomfortable” calling fallen military members “heroes.” Appearing on his weekend show Up With Chris Hayes, the host attempted to explain why the word hero bothers him so. Hayes fretted, “I think it is very difficult to talk about the war dead and the fallen without invoking valor, without invoking the words ‘heroes.’.... I feel comfortable, uncomfortable, about the word because it seems to me that it is so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war.” (Video)

Trump's statement comes as Washington vies with Beijing in the race to explore Mars, opening another front in the battle for influence. At the end of a four-day state visit, Trump said: "Japan will join our mission to send U.S. astronauts to space." “We'll be going to the moon," he sad. "We'll be going to Mars very soon."

The presidential election is in full swing. If this were any other year, I’d be working to help reelect the Republican incumbent, hoping he would stay focused on advancing a solid free-market regulatory policy. Gay representation has certainly come a long way from Patrick Stewart and Steven Weber in the classic 1995 gay film, “Jeffrey.” That same year, Patrick Swayze, John Leguizamo, and Wesley Snipes shocked audiences with their hilarious and stunningly relatable performances as urban drag queens taking a long road trip across middle America in “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar.” And of course, who could forget Robin William’s heartfelt comedy performance in “The Birdcage”the following year? These movies were promises of societal acceptance as big-name, straight actors played proud gay characters for straight audiences who laughed, cheered, and empathized with them.

We ate lunch at a Chick-fil-A today. When we entered the restaurant, the first thing we saw was an empty table that was set up to honor fallen military personnel over the Memorial Day weekend. Click to enlarge:(Snip for photo) Chick-fil-A is unabashedly pro-American. I suspect that is the real reason for the animus that so many liberals bear against the company.
