HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A glimpse of student athletes in peak physical condition vaping just moments after competing in a football game led Stamford High School Principal Raymond Manka to reconsider his approach to the epidemic. His school traditionally has emphasized discipline for those caught with e-cigarettes. Punishments become increasingly severe with each offense, from in-school suspensions to out-of-school suspensions and, eventually, notification of law enforcement.

Comments:

We all have a friend or two who is a smoker. And we've also heard from said smoker friends, emphatically, that vaping is NOT smoking, harmless, etc. etc.

Teenagers today have so many ways to ruin their bodies that vaping is just one more on the list and comparatively harmless when you consider cocaine, marijuana, opioids, alcohol and all of the other garbage that kids can easily buy and injest. At least this bunch could play football. Kids initially start out smoking, drinking, etc. to impress their friends and be "cool." It's they stuff they do alone that creates a greater need to worry. ALL of it is bad and singling out one because it's easy is not a prevention and neither choice, punishment or treatment is effective. I can't count the number of times when, as a student, I was approached to try marijuana before my parents or teachers even knew what it was. Nowadays it's the parents and teachers who are doing it.

The also need to ban the advertising of these vaping devices. I see TV ads and full page ads in newspapers for them.

So if the scum of the school vapes, book 'em. But if a student athlete vapes, we need to rethink the policy. No double standards there.

Liberals will MAKE them obey! No questions asked! No excuses! No leniency! Do as we say, not as we do! No discipline in adults = no discipline in children! But, liberal teachers and Principals never think of that, do they?

The student knows exactly what they're doing. It's the teachers and the school administrations who don't know what they're doing and requires counseling.

Whatever the school chooses to do it will make the problem worse. Sex education. More STD, pregnancies, abortions and shacking up.

If you can kill a new-born to protect a mother's rights to control her own body the why should a linebacker have no right to control his own personal internal chemistry ? Answer: "Smoking" is unfashionable and fashion is EVERYTHING. Try to pay attention.

Pelosi’s Impeachment Dilemma 12 replies

The progressives in her party are lining up to demand an impeachment spectacle. They hail from uber-liberal districts, their constituents want Trump’s scalp, and they fear inaction will earn them a primary challenge. Even Mrs. Pelosi’s wingmen—those who’ve had her fake-impeachment back—are starting to break. The Washington Post reports that Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler is arguing for a formal impeachment inquiry, as are “five members of Pelosi’s leadership team.”

WASHINGTON—House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D., Calif.) said the Justice Department had agreed to turn over 12 categories of counterintelligence and foreign intelligence materials connected to special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. Mr. Schiff said Wednesday that the Justice Department had agreed to turn over the documents on a rolling basis, to be completed by the end of next week. He also postponed a committee meeting, but said the panel remained ready to enforce its subpoena for the full report and underlying documents. Mr. Schiff had set Wednesday as a deadline for the Justice Department to cooperate.

There are now 23 candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination with New York’s mayor jumping in. The unveiling of the spies and tactics behind the fake collusion tale continues apace. It looks as though Mueller will testify before Congress on the 12th of Never and the impeachment train will never leave the station. Inspector General Horowitz’s reports on Comey and another on charges of illegal conduct in the DoJ and FBI are due soon, though, as usual, seem to be a long time aborning. General Flynn’s sentencing hearing should come soon.

Better late than never: Attorney General William Barr has tasked U.S. Attorney John Durham to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation. If the Justice Department had done this two years ago, the country would be in a much better place. Mr. Barr has made clear that he intends to restore his department’s credibility. The Durham appointment is a perfect example of that effort. This is how Justice ought to operate, from the nature of the probe to the choice of prosecutor. It’s a striking contrast to the hash that became of the Mueller investigation. Mr. Barr gets credit for

Steve Blass spent his boyhood afternoons in Connecticut flinging a rubber ball against the side of a half-barn, fantasizing that he was pitching in the majors. Come evening, the 10-year-old would get his radio and tune into a game, delighted when Mel Allen’s voice crackled from the transistor. “When I thought ‘baseball,’ I thought about Mel Allen,” said Blass, now a Pittsburgh Pirates announcer. “When I thought ‘Mel Allen,’ I thought about baseball.” More than in any other sport, baseball broadcasters become an inseparable part of the game they describe.

The presidential election is in full swing. If this were any other year, I’d be working to help reelect the Republican incumbent, hoping he would stay focused on advancing a solid free-market regulatory policy. I served on the campaign team for John McCain in 2008, on the economic-policy team of Mitt Romney in 2012, and on Donald Trump’s transition team in 2016, before I resigned over policy differences.

Gay representation has certainly come a long way from Patrick Stewart and Steven Weber in the classic 1995 gay film, “Jeffrey.” That same year, Patrick Swayze, John Leguizamo, and Wesley Snipes shocked audiences with their hilarious and stunningly relatable performances as urban drag queens taking a long road trip across middle America in “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar.” And of course, who could forget Robin William’s heartfelt comedy performance in “The Birdcage”the following year? These movies were promises of societal acceptance as big-name, straight actors played proud gay characters for straight audiences who laughed, cheered, and empathized with them.

Thank God this woman is not President! Hillary Clinton was spotted walking in the Newcastle Memorial Day parade in Chappaqua looking like an old grandma in a blue muumuu with black leggings. "I sat on that stage between Bernie and John McCain, and John McCain kept reciting to me names of dictators during that speech because he knew more than any of us what we were

We ate lunch at a Chick-fil-A today. When we entered the restaurant, the first thing we saw was an empty table that was set up to honor fallen military personnel over the Memorial Day weekend. There was a red rose, a folded flag, an inverted glass and an open Bible, along with text explaining the elements of the display. Click to enlarge:(Snip for photo) Chick-fil-A is unabashedly pro-American. I suspect that is the real reason for the animus that so many liberals bear against the company. There was a time when liberals were generally patriotic. George McGovern is a good example: he was wrong on just

Either Hillary Clinton has a weird sense of humor, or she’s awfully uptight. In a tweet posted Sunday morning, the failed 2016 Democrat presidential nominee and former secretary of state complained to Habsro about the approved words list for its game Scrabble. And in doing so, she took some shots at President Donald Trump and his attorney Rudy Giuliani. “Earlier this month, Scrabble updated its list of approved words for game play for the first time in four years (‘ivesssapology’ and ‘covfefe’ were not among them),” she wrote. “But those changes aren’t yet reflected in the Scrabble app. 👎 Where are we on this, @Hasbro?” Look:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) ate it last week. No, it wasn’t about the Green New Deal, which is a recipe for economic disaster; it was a poorly executed counterattack against…the media. Yep, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is running for the Democratic nomination in 2020, so your whole life goes under the microscope. Y’all know the drill. It so happens that she had quite the legal career as well, charging $675/hour and worked on over 50 legal cases. CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski simply tweeted about this dot on Warren’s resume, which AOC thought was an attack, pulled the trigger, but got face-full of buckshot instead.

As Memorial Day weekend wore on, by Sunday morning Chicago police had responded to the shootings of 21 people, three of whom died from their injuries, officials said. The grim tally was only expected to increase as a shooting Sunday about 6 a.m. in the 1300 block of South Throop Street in Englewood is said to have left two dead and two injured. The shooting was possibly in retaliation for an earlier one in the same neighborhood on West Hastings Street, which also left a man dead, investigators said. Details on that shooting, in which four people were struck, were
