Americans today are more closely divided than they were earlier in the last century when asked whether some form of socialism would be a good or bad thing for the country. While 51% of U.S. adults say socialism would be a bad thing for the country, 43% believe it would be a good thing. Those results contrast with a 1942 Roper/Fortune survey that found 40% describing socialism as a bad thing, 25% a good thing and 34% not having an opinion. The Roper/Fortune survey is one of the oldest trend questions measuring attitudes on socialism in the U.S. Gallup's update of the question in an April 17-30 survey finds

Education, is indeed the key, but perhaps not exactly as OP implies: the takeover of the entire education system, from K-12 to the university system, by the leftist cabal has produced an entire generation of indoctrinated, self-centered, adult children, utterly incapable of looking out for themselves, who now need the government to be their perpetual mommy.

The Times has come for virtual schools. Free from school boards and the public school model of indoctrination over education. Thinking about starting up a local program like a vacation bible school but focused on us history, economics and positive patriotism. Teach kids to speak up and reorient them among similarly minded kids to value American Greatness, traditional literature and social foundations that don’t aggressively confront the Creator.

The invasion at the border and lax to NO ENFORCEMENT of existing immigration law is key to plotting our nation's economic downfall and it imposition of a government formed by a HANDFUL of "anointed ones". When the people ALLOW this to occur by not participating in waging opposition to the callous way this is being foisted upon us, then we ALL lose. The most outrageous notions have been floated in the media ad nauseum to beat down any opposition because our traditional values are being attacked from ALL SIDES promoting socialism: Medicare for ALL--including ILLEGALS fortotal takeover of medicine, denying care and rationing care FREE College--how many spend YEARS floating around that would be on your dime? Guaranteed Income--so there is no incentive to ever work while others pay for the free ride Abolishing ICE-- so there are no protections of the citizens FREE Social Security-- even to those who never paid in a dime! Where does all the money to pay for this come from? By oppressing the honest person who works hard to care for their home, families, and themselves Why are these issues not given serious thought?

Under Obama, socialist leaners wanted handouts for THEMSELVES. This time around it's very different. Millennials have now overtaken the Boomer population and the younger demographic trend is EQUALIZATION, social justice for ALL---worldwide. They have been completely brainwashed that we all must be treated as equal units working together to save the planet. It's a huge mistake to ignore this. The appeal of socialism is no longer a Me Thing. They don't care about free stuff anymore. Pay attention or we could really suffer in the polls.

That number is far too low. Almost 100% favor some form of socialism. .Social Security is socialism. Medicare is socialism. All involuntary wealth transfer by the government is socialism, and is Constitutionally illegitimate. As the consequences of socialism become more difficult to conceal, support for new government intrusion is Th headline should read that only 40% support new forms of socialism, or expansion of socialism.

If everyone would just remember the 2004 bragging from ABC about how they could manipulate any poll they wanted to, everyone would realize that this is simply the media trying to get the public to accept a democrat candidate instead of a great economy, good jobs and cleaning out the swamp. The media will never ever stop with the drumbeats regarding socialism. Nobody in their right mind wants it, they know it, so they are going to lie through their teeth about what it would really entail.

40%? I think it's much higher than that. Just suggest making any changes to Social Security or Medicare. Suggest eliminating it. It is only socialism if it is made into single payer or medicare for all. If it's for just us old coots, then it's fine because WE paid into it. Well, so does every working young person but who probably will not benefit. But, as the saying goes, "well who cares? We'll all be dead before then."

In 1996, during the midst of Bill Clinton's desperate drive to become president, 16 French club members from the Montoursville high school and five of their chaperones died in the crash of TWA Flight 800 off the coast of Long Island.
