Vermont on Friday became the sixth state to eliminate Columbus Day, replacing it with Indigenous People’s Day. Governor Phil Scott, a Republican, signed a bill designating the second Monday in October a day honoring Native Americans rather than the 15th-century Italian explorer. “Vermont was founded and built upon lands whose original inhabitants were Abenaki people and honors them and their ancestors,” the state’s new law reads. “I know it’s controversial from many standpoints, from many people, but you know, it’s just a day, and we’ll get through it,” Scott said last month after the state legislature passed the measure.

Reason enough to never visit Vermont again...
Read Peter Marshall’s “The Light and the Glory” for the true valor and Divine Providence of Christopher Columbus, among others.

Since the official holiday is designated Columbus Day on the books, the people of Vermont should have to go to work on that day.

Not that I agree with Vermont´s arrogant move, I can´t say as I recall Columbus actually setting foot on this continent.

Whether or Not Columbus actually set foot on the continent is beside the point... He sure did get the ball rolling by discovering a whole New World... a greater accomplishment than discovering a country... and he will soon be expunged from history.

Any Abenaki people left around who give a Schiff? Perhaps the good people of Vermont killed them all. It ain’t easy being indigenous.

Yes, let´s celebrate Indigenous peoples. Those enlightened folk who never discovered the wheel, never invented a written language, never learned to smelt metals, burned down forests as a way of ´hunting´, kept slaves, horribly tortured captives, and practiced ritual sacrifice of children. Obviously, this wonderful culture is far more deserving of its special day on the calendar than some goof who merely discovered two continents.

The Governor says "it´s just a day and we´ll get through it."
Vermont is just a small place that we can get through in a couple of hours driving the speed limit without having to spend a dime.

Why not just eliminate this holiday? There are too many federal holidays that we the taxpayer fund as a day off.

Vermont! What a lost people, taken over by lunatic leftists and dreamers. And to think, I was once going to move there and set up a toy factory. I needed fine maple wood for my toys. Wife and I decided we could do it...California was going so crazy at the time and our little toy factory was absolutely booming- I could not keep up with the orders- Vermont was the best source for fine maple lumber- so why not go to the lumber instead of bringing the lumber to my little shop? We sold everything- even our furniture and packed up a U-Haul truck and our Impala Station wagon with out two little boys, our dog and our cat and off we went. We headed for the wonderful, maple wood paradise of the State of Vermont. Fortunately, we stopped in New Mexico to visit my sister, she convinced us to stay there, and the rest became our history. We stayed and loved NM...thank God! Boy did we dodge a bullet by not going on to that liberal lunatic asylum called Vermont! Talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire!

So to honor these "Indians" it was necessary to dis-honor Columbus. I wonder if this jack-ass governor is planning to honor the Nazis for their contributions to "science".

Political correctness is smothering us.
If I lived in Vermont, I would make a point of going to work on Indiggy Day.

#2, I found out that Ben and ´Jerry´ were commies before I ever ran across their products, so I will NEVER taste them.
Lots of good choices out there.
Vermont has been entirely taken over by loons from the insane states around it. Decades ago, we enjoyed our bucolic visit, spending time at a larger creamery watching them make cheese, and a large maple candy and syrup maker, touring their factory. And enjoyed a local furniture museum/shop with products of local craftsmen. And we skied there several different trips, too.
But that was 40 years ago. We won´t be going back to this far left lunatic asylum any more.

So who did the Indigenous People get it from?
Did one ´indigenous tribe´ club and beat to death another indigenous tribe to take their parcel land and so on? It had to all come from somewhere. Oh well it´s time to take down the Columbus statue and store it next to Thomas Jefferson the slaver and all confederate civil war soldiers until this PC madness is over.
Vermont the state not to visit because of PC stupidity.

Somebody, anybody, please identify even ONE person who is or was indigenous to America.
The archaeological record, and even the analysis of it, show clearly that every person who is here or ever was here either came here from somewhere else or descended from people who did.

Liberals do damage to the English language. It irks me to no end now they get away with inventing labels for us: deplorables, far-right, islamophobic, homophobic, bitter clingers, bible-thumpers, white privilege, and on and on. Indigenous people´s day is a mouthful. Not the least bit catchy.

The new Gov is a lying snake, but that isn´t news. Don´t feel too comfortable about VT and dismiss the threat. These progressive fascists are everywhere, including where you are. They need to be confronted often and hard. They are relentless, well funded and most of all covered for by a truly evil media. The decades long refusal to take on the MSM is the real root of all of our problems.

I´ve noticed that if one lie-beral complains about something, it is immediately destroyed. It doesn´t matter if thousands of normal people like it or support it. It just takes one lie-beral to destroy anything.
But I guess what offends Americans of Italian ancestry doesn´t matter. We don´t count, even though we take a lot of pride in Columbus Day!!!
It´s time for Conservatives to start squawking like Lie-Berals do!!!!!
