At PragerU, we have released about 400 videos on virtually every subject outside of the natural sciences and math. Along with two billion views, the videos have garnered tens of thousands of comments. So we have a pretty good handle on what people most love and most hate. For example, any video defending America or Israel inevitably receives many negative responses. But no videos elicit the amount of contempt and mockery that videos defending religion, explaining the Bible, or arguing for God do. Why is that? There is a good reason.

There is another distinction hinted at in the article. God, as we view him, is all powerful. He could choose to overcome our will and everything we do. But he does not. We not only have free will but the individual is left independant to act in opposition to the power and order of the universe. Yes, we often pay a price for that but God does not interfere.
The Left would have us subservient to the power of the state and the will of the Left.
If God deems it THAT IMPORTANT to leave us to our own choices, it seems evil when someone wants to enslave us to their purposes.
Our government of We the People is established as a necessary evil. People need some form of agreed on, organized society. But it is designed and intended to be a minimalist form of government, not the bloated, intrusive, controlling mess it is. We the People are supposed to make the choices for most things we do. That is a biblical perspective in echo of God´s dealings with us.
All this is an anathema to the Left whose foundation is power and control.

Most people don´t understand free will. Our free will is wrapped up in the desires of our heart. They will turn one of two ways, towards good or evil. Period. Without God´s help, they will always turn evil. Read the Bible, that´s what it says.

There is a very long history of people denying and/or perverting what God has said.
"The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”

God allows us to have free will because He LOVES us! Think about it: If you love someone, you don´t force that person to return your love. You want that person to choose you freely and love you in return.
Free will first and foremost points to a loving God, who works all our lifetime to turn our hearts to Him.

Sorry, but saying God is love limits God. Love is just one aspect/attribute. Look it up.

"These Bible verses about free will show us that we have the ability to choose and have faith in God, being secure in our eternal life in heaven, or we can choose to turn from God and live apart from Him. "
1 Corinthians 10:13
2 Peter 3:9
Galatians 5:13
There are many others as well.

I think god may be embarrassed at times by those who purport to speak for him.

"... and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will."
2 Tim. 2:26
"Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin."
Can someone point me to an explanation of how captives and slaves exercise free will?

My son introduced me to Prager several years ago; he said studying the lessons Prager taught on the Ten Commandments deepened his Christian faith. Wow. Prager does not rely on his own understanding; he taps into many great conservative minds. This article was a really good one.

I would double-down on #4 -- it is not possible to force another to love you. Just as an intact person cannot be force to believe in something. (The only way to force belief is through brainwashing, or the systematic destruction of the mind.)
God is love. God sows love. God harvests love. And it isn´t real if it isn´t free. (And unlike leftism, God neither deceives, nor sanctions fakery.)

Psalms 2:1Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
2The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
3“Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
4He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.

#11- The verse from 2 Timothy 2:26 is about false teachers and heretics who rejected what was written at that time (sound words that later became the New Testament) and no longer faithfully preached and taught according to the “pattern” of those sound words. False teachers and heretics, then and now, “serve the devil by destroying faith with their lies, which they claim is God’s truth.”
The verse from John 8:34 about being a slave to sin is that, since the fall of Adam and Eve, “all people are sinners and enslaved to sin, bound to self-centeredness, doomed to death, and blind to their slavery.”
The “captive” and “slavery” written in these two verses have to do with sin; mortal man has the “free will” to choose between doing what is right or what is wrong, what is sin.

Compare David Horowitz DARK Agenda, The War to Destroy Christian America.
Credits two Christian doctrines: Depravity; and Priesthood of all Believers. The 1st "led logically to the American Idea that government requires a system of checks and balances to restrain the devious impulses and desires of its citizens and officials."
The 2nd, logically "leveled the spiritual playing field, making all Christians - and all God´s children - equal in the eyes of their Creator" ... Equality.
