PHOENIX — John McCain’s dog, who was always at the senator’s side until his death last year, died after getting stuck in a pipe and drowning on the family’s northern Arizona property. Cindy McCain told The Arizona Republic on Monday that Burma died last month when she got trapped in a pipe on their Cornville property. She says the Chesapeake Bay retriever had never run into a pipe before. The property includes a series of ponds and a creek.

Poor dog. With all the family money they should have had a person looking after that dog.

I guess that children are never on the property.

I can see no good reason for the McCain family to release this info to the public. I can think of bad reasons and not just because I´m cynical.

The dog was no longer useful McCain as a photo prop, and thus goes where all life goes when not useful to a Democrat.
(And, yes, the McCain are Democrats. No sense in pretending otherwise.)

Poor thing. It was neglected (like Bill Clinton´s dog) after it was no longer useful with predictable results.
People who can´t look after their pets shouldn´t have them.

Losing a good pet is SO tough. Maybe it´s the single one thing left which transcends politics. Condolences the family.

Dogs, like little kids, can get themselves in unfortunate situations. I don’t blame them but do wonder why they’re telling us now? I read where the dog had died when it happened and didn’t need this followup. It’s odd. But hey, some peeps do what they need to, to stay in the news.

My thoughts exactly, #3. The answer is their PR people know its sympathetic coverage so go for it. Watching the PR machines of these political families like the McCains, Bushes come up with to keep the narrative THEY want out there is so interesting...

Why am I not buying the cause of death? I cant help but believe that there´s something else we are not being told.
Adult, trained companion dogs, dont just get stuck in pipes.

Burma ´the dog´ can´t possibly be with McCain. Dogs don´t go to hell, they go to the Rainbow Bridge.

What is it about politicians and using animals, namely dogs? Oh, that´s right, dogs are like people. They use dogs just like they use people. It´s criminal.

Well I am no fan of any of the McCain family.
But I do feel sad for the dog. That was a lonely and terrifying way to go.
At least Burma did not suffer quite as cruel a fate as Bill Clinton´s dog, Buddy. Buddy was only used as a prop (it was clear Clinton didn´t like him, and the feeling was mutual).
Buddy´s paid handler let him loose at the Clinton´s "home" in Chappaqua. The poor dog was then hit and killed by a car.

Oh that poor dog. What a disrespectful legacy to a beloved pet of their patriarch. This death doesn´t surprise me at all though. I suspect I am not the only one who feels that way as well. They could have given the dog to a loving home, or a Vet´s organization. But no, like McCain, they could not care less about Vets.
RIP little Burma, and may you find peace at the Rainbow Bridge with somebody who actually loves you.
