Climate change is widening the world’s gap between the haves and have-nots, worsening economic inequality between rich and poor countries, according to a new analysis by Stanford scientists. The difference between the economic output of the world’s cool wealthy nations and hot struggling nations is 25 percent larger today than it would have been without global warming, according to researchers Noah Diffenbaugh and Marshall Burke. “Our results show that most of the poorest countries on Earth are considerably poorer than they would have been without global warming,” said climate scientist Diffenbaugh. “At the same time, the majority of rich countries

RENO, Nev. — Former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke said Thursday he’s willing to consider a moratorium on new leases to drill for oil and gas on federal lands as a way to help combat climate change. (Snip) O’Rourke said that concern, combined with the need to reduce total greenhouse emissions, makes it especially important that U.S. taxpayers don’t allow oil and gas companies “to contribute more to the problem.” “So, rethinking the leasing of public lands and perhaps creating a moratorium on any future leases — and reviewing all those that are in existence — is in order,”

Hundreds of migrants hoping to reach the United States boarded a freight train in southern Mexico late on Thursday, frustrated by efforts to slow their progress by the Mexican government, which is under pressure from President Donald Trump. The risky move to board the train, known as ´La Bestia´ (The Beast), followed a mass breakout of migrants from a holding center in the southern border city of Tapachula on Thursday night. The government estimated some 1,300 people escaped but said a majority later returned to the center.Men, women and children from various countries boarded the slow train as it pulled

A power struggle at the NRA has pitted Wayne LaPierre, the gun-rights group’s executive vice president, against its newly installed president, Oliver North. In a letter to board members on Thursday, which was published by The Wall Street Journal, LaPierre accused North of an extortion plot in an effort to oust him. “Leaders in every walk of life must often choose: between what is true, and what is polite; between what is convenient, and what is right,” LaPierre wrote in the letter.

It took some pollsters only a few minutes to tell us that VP Biden, or #21, has a nine-point lead on President Trump. It reminded some of us of other polls from days gone by, such as this one from the spring of 1983 when President Ronald Reagan was coming out of the 1981-82 recession: The headline links to a Morning Consult story that found Biden with a 42 percent to 34 percent lead over President Trump in a hypothetical matchup. “Along with his advantage over Trump, Biden has held a consistent lead in Morning Consult’s weekly tracking among likely

President Trump is considering granting waivers to bypass the Jones Act, a century-old law law regulating domestic maritime commerce, to ease the transport of natural gas to the Northeast and Puerto Rico. Enacted in 1920, the Jones Act prohibits tankers from hauling goods and commodities, such as oil or natural gas, between U.S. ports unless the ships are American made, owned, and crewed. The Jones Act was designed to protect American maritime interests and shipbuilders, and the industry has repeatedly fended off attempts in Congress to repeal it, with coastal lawmakers stepping in to save it.

WASHINGTON — No such thing. That was the verdict delivered by the security guard inside the Ronald Reagan Building on the question of whether there existed a museum of the Environmental Protection Agency and, more to the point, whether that museum was somewhere within this airy warren of federal offices in downtown Washington. In fact, she appeared to regard the question as downright insane. Actually, there was — and is, as of this writing at least — such a thing as an EPA museum. This is huge — a lunatic hack state judge is indicted and charged with cutting loose a twice-deported Dominican illegal immigrant arrested with drugs after throwing an ICE agent out of her courtroom so that the criminal could escape. For what appears to be the first time, someone in a “sanctuary” jurisdiction has to answer for the coddling of these illegal immigrants who are perpetrating a massive tidal wave of crime on the law-abiding, taxpaying citizens of the United States. Finally in the halls of justice, some justice that’s not in the halls, but in the courtroom.

Department of Justice inspector general Michael Horowitz announced in March 2018 that his office was reviewing the DOJ’s and FBI’s “compliance with legal requirements, and with applicable DOJ and FBI policies and procedures, in applications filed with the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) relating to a certain U.S. person.” In other words, he was asking whether the agencies abused their power in getting warrants to surveil (by then, former) Trump-campaign foreign-policy adviser Carter Page. More than a year later, we still don’t know much about the course of the IG’s investigation. But that may finally be changing.

In some ways, Christopher Steele’s infamous dossier is as much a story about the media as it is about Russiagate, the monumental scandal that it both spawned and richly informed. The dossier, after all, was being whispered about among Washington journalists—some who’d been briefed off the record—for months before it exploded into the open. After BuzzFeed made the controversial decision to publish it in early 2017, Steele himself became a media phenomenon, garnering mouthwatering profiles from the likes of The New Yorker and Vanity Fair, and inspiring best-sellers like Luke Harding’s Collusion and David Corn and Michael Isikoff’s Russian Roulette.

If you´re gonna tell a lie, make it a big one. Make it so astonishing, so blatant, that you cause the listener to question his own grasp on reality. Turn down the gaslight, and when he notices, say the light was always that dim. Is he going to believe the evidence of his own senses, or is he gonna go along to get along? All politicians do it, including our current Commander-in-Chief, but few do it with as much gusto as Joe Biden. He just really digs lying, almost as much as his old boss does.

The Wall Street Journal on Friday revealed that the deep-pocketed family in question is from China, and have not been charged.

What’s that old expression? Those that can, do; those who can’t, teach. That’s what’s happening with two Democrats who lost re-election races in 2018. Former Senators Heidi Heitkamp and Joe Donnelly want to turn their failures into success for other Democrats. As crazy as it first sounds, Heitkamp and Donnelly want to teach other candidates how to talk to rural voters. Ponder that for a moment. The party of identity politics is so accustomed to dividing potential voters into specific categories, with a focus on urban voters,

President Trump has called the Mueller investigation a "witch hunt" nearly 200 times on social media alone. Well, the special counsel concluded he was not a witch. After carefully scrutinizing any links between the Russian government and the Trump campaign, Robert Mueller definitively declared "the investigation did not establish that the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities." He didn´t do it. Still, several leading Democrats have called for Trump´s impeachment on obstruction-of-justice charges. This is absurd. The lesson of Watergate, we are told, is that the coverup is always worse than the crime.
