There’s a concrete reason for Mayor de Blasio’s notion to ban New York city’s “classic glass and steel skyscrapers” — he’s got rocks in his head.Has any officeholder ever turned so viciously on his own town? De Blasio’s poisonous City Hall reign is distinguished by corruption, laziness and incompetence — but not by rank stupidity. Until today. He wants New York to be “first of any major city on the Earth” to make building owners “clean up your act .?.?. to save energy.”

Until Warren Wilhelm, aka De Blasio gets on a solar powered jet plane, I will not read anything else about him or from him. What a maroon.

You might expect ideas that are "pure stupidity" from someone who is stupid.

Be fair - - read the rest of what he said.
Instead of steel and glass - - he wants skyscrapers to be built with recycled plastic straws - - solving two major world crises in one swoop.
Genius is never appreciated in its own time.

Office buildings are constructed with the intent of renting out space to tenants. In order to keep the cost of said space low, builders and architects take great pains to make the buildings as effiscent as possible, using the materials and technology available.
As technology improves, retrofits are done, (Low E Glass, improved HVAC) etc., to further make operating costs of the structure more affordable.
Before DeBlasio consults AOC, he should be talking to PJDT, a master building contractor.

Please show cause and effect. Show your work.
Without referring to the lobbyist´s report that put this in your empty head, explain what this does, and how the re- construction work will not contribute any pollution countermanding this project.

Being just a hair above sea level, New York City has no place to dig caves. This is the only form of construction legal under the New Green Deal and de Blasio´s latest loonytunes idea. The entire population will have to move up to the Adirondacks when the skyscrapers fall down.
Wait, aren´t plastic straws already on the green weenie ban list? Is he going to import them?

Tents. That´s the solution. A horizontal grand bazaar with tiny alleyways winding it´s way throughout the entire city. Hundreds of thousands of individual tents made of recycled straws. No electricity or plumbing, but maybe a government-issued app which trains workers/business owners to hold Nature´s Call until they get home---sort of like the "Breathe" app on my watch.
Gotta love progressives. Taking us forward into the past.

Until the stupid New Yorkers vote conservative mayor´s into office, stupid liberal mayors will think, talk, and act as stupidly as stupid mayor Bill deBlasio.
Stupid is as stupid does.

Mayor de Blasio would set the people of NYC back over 100 years. Not him and his ilk. They are ´privileged´ and would still be able to get the necessary permits. Its modern day feudalism folks. All in the name of saving the planet.

Does he want a bunch of communist era windowless concrete buildings that all look alike? His architecture style will then match how he and AOC & and the Dems seem to want to run things.

NYC elected Bill de Blasio mayor and got corruption, laziness and incompetence. Then they elected Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to Congress who wants to implement the insane "Green New Deal." Now Bill wants to join her in this rank stupidity.
New Yorkers, you voted for them. When will you ever learn?

Ayn Rand once again is right again! In Fountainhead, there is an approved architecture style and an architect does not follow the approved rules leading to lots of trouble from those in charge.

This is just DiBlasio´s way of making NY City the Detroit of the east coast. As with all socialists he has no concept of how to make things run, only how to tear them down.

It’s maddening to watch liberals (AKA democrats) obsessing over emotionally-driven issues, and then making stupid/farcical decisions. But the real problem lies in their “ we know best; therefore we will impose our righteous solution on you” attitude. Oh, for the days when our society respected/ promoted logic and common sense.

What is more Green than steel and glass? Steel is iron and a little bit of carbon some of the most abundant elements on earth and glass is mostly sand.

#5, clearly the man is pure genius. How is it that up until now NONE of us structural engineers have ever seriously considered using used plastic straws to build skyscrapers?
We sure are stupid to use steel beams and reinforced concrete.
Such genius, I am in awe!

Boy oh boy did Amazon ever dodge a bullet when they cancelled their NYC plans. Bezos is a USDA-Prime liberal but he’s also a savvy capitalist who knows crazy when he sees it and he sees it in Mayor De Blasio. De Blasio is a self-indulgent blowhard who plays to type as a New Yorker and wins local elections easily. NYC has had some really crappy mayors, Abraham Beame and David Dinkins to name two, and still managed to survive their ruinous politics. The Big Apple will soon no longer have to endure this boob and will move on to someone far better like Koch, or Rudy, or Bloomberg. After his terms as Mayor, De Blasio will mercifully fade from view.

I have the plan for mayor nut job. Why not evict the UN and retrofit that prime real estate into AOC´s dream building?
Dummkopf. The reason the buildings are so tall is because there is nowhere else to build and they had to go up instead of out. Is he on drugs?
