Pittsburgh now stands with fellow sanctuary city Oakland in telling President Trump it’d be happy to take in detained illegal immigrants. Mr. Trump claimed this week that “Illegal Immigrants who can no longer be legally held … will be, subject to Homeland Security, given to Sanctuary Cities and States!” following through on a threat that was in part designed to expose liberal hypocrisy and NIMBY-ism. But like Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf over the weekend, Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto said words to the effect of bring it on. “We welcome people to Pittsburgh. This city was built by immigrants when
Yeah good luck with that, mayor

100,000 in the past month. Tens of thousands with absolutely nothing. Forget the buses. I say fly them out. I´ll make a donation. Maybe a two hour flight and drop them off at the Pittsburgh air port. One plane after the other.

He’d like to see these “families” move there.
"We don´t view the president´s comments as a threat," Peduto said. "Pittsburgh is a welcoming city, and on a monthly basis, we´re welcoming new immigrants and refugees into this city."
The mayor added, "We work hand-in-hand with our nonprofit organizations, our faith-based institutions, and I´m sure that working with them, we could handle several hundred more detainees.”

"Built by immigrants" so what?
Tell me how that since at one time in our history it served our needs to import droves of unskilled laborers there can never be a point where that no longer makes sense or serves our needs?
I´d also submit that the reason life was so harsh for workers in the late 19th to early 20th century was an oversupply of cheap labor fleeing repression in Europe thus lowering the cost of labor to repressed European levels. Do you think that the "Robber Barons" could have abused workers if they were in short supply and they had to compete for them? Do you know that an Irishman cost about one tenth as much as an African slave? You had to purchase Africans from traders who sent ships and purchasing agents off to acquire them yet boatloads of Irish were unloaded every day. (Many of whom had been Scots cleared out of the Highlands sent to Ireland)
Your statement is utterly ridiculous Mr. Mayor. At least you go by Bill and haven´t changed to Billeto...yet.

It sounds like a great plan is coming together.
All the non-sanctuary cities get huge relief not having to deal with the invasion of illegal aliens.
The sanctuary cities get all their tired illegal alien masses that they keep saying they want (along with the massive costs to deal with them, of course).
And President Trump gets to smile and gloat, and gain tons of new voters for proving once again that he truly is a great leader and not a swamp creature politician!!!!!
Talk about win/win/win!!!!!

This doofus has dark blackish-brown hair that stops at the top of his sideburns, which are white and lead into a white beard - and insists that that is natural. Even told the Daiai Lama that.
His hair is so obviously dyed, it is pathetic. He is a real weirdo...

Chicago´s new mayor and the Chicago Sun-Times editorial board have said the same thing. President Trump should take these mayors up on their offer and load up the buses.

Idiot. Yea his city was built by immigrants alright, but not like the illiterates coming illegally across our southern border. This is the bullsh** democrats are peddling to all dummies who don´t know any better. This is an insult to every hard working immigrant who came here years ago. Plus, they assimilated into our society, fought for our country and respected our flag. Got it.

Guess the mayor of Pittsburgh wants more slums as if they didn´t already have enough. Just remember, if these illegal immigrants get in, the odds are good they will never leave.

I grew up in Pittsburgh and can tell you that the Burgh is as diverse as they come. There is some ethnic festival just about every month back home. While Pittsburghers celebrate diversity with parades, food and beer, everyone is an American first, Pittsburger second and just about everyone speaks English.... well Pittsburghese.
The locals will not be happy with a flood of Spanish speaking welfare grabbers pouring in. This may turn Allegheny County red in the next election. And that would be a first.

No need to emphasize the fact that the Pittsburgh mayor is a moron who survives on his liberalism. Allegheny county has higher taxes than most of the state, no firearms allowed anytime, anywhere. They already have a colony of Somalis going to school downtown on the taxpayers dime. I don´t think I´ll be visiting there quite as often because his vision is a recipe for disaster.

A major influx of illegal aliens will destroy the finances of the city, ruin the schools because many new students cannot speak English, overwhelm the health care system, and the list goes on. The mayor must think these folks are all profesionals, rather than individuals primarily arriving for FREE benefits.

Your choice Allegheny county. Expand the parasites way beyond the couple of hundred criminals this dope is talking about or vote in a Mayor who isn´t a lying rat. Peduto is a punk. Explain the difference between being invited in and breaking in and vote for someone who doesn´t lie every time they speak.

So many of you are so right. But you have to admit that the conservatives and/or Pubbies have done a TERRIBLE job of defining the difference between regular immigrants and ILLEGAL immigrants and until they do, I´m afraid nothing will change.
