‘We Don’t Talk Like That’: Ocasio- Cortez Accused Of Putting On Black ‘Accent’ At NAN Conference

Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seemed to use a forced accent during a speech to the National Action Network convention Friday. “This is what organizing looks like,” said Ocasio-Cortez. “This is what building power looks like. This is what changing the country looks like. It’s when we choose to show up and occupy the room and talk about the things that matter most, talking about our future.” Then, the New York lawmaker really laid it on: “I’m proud to be a bartender,” she said. “Ain’t nothing wrong with that.

Hillary: I´m so good at fake black southern accents!

Why does she want to change the country? Is Russia her role model or Venezuela or Cuba? What is wrong with a country where a bartender can become a member of Congress and where many blacks are richer than many whites. What is wrong with this country is that the Socialists are trying to take over our Republic and turn it into a Communist country. She is one big problem!

Ms Ocasio-Cortez can "be" whatever she wishes to be, even if just for a few minutes. Simply saying it is sufficient. The signal is the most important thing.

‘That’s Just Insane’: Australia’s Secret Deal to Take In Rwandan Guerrillas 6 replies

For more than a decade, the United States had a problem: three Rwandan men, sitting in jail in Virginia, who had stood accused of brutally murdering tourists in Africa—but now had a chance of winning release onto American streets. The three had been rounded up after a bloody 1999 attack that made headlines across three continents, in which two Americans and six other Western tourists on a gorilla-watching visit to the Ugandan rainforest were killed with machetes and axes. The crime was so horrific that U.S. prosecutors charged the men under terrorism statutes, extracted them from Rwanda and then took

Assembly Bill 186, which passed the Senate on a 12-8 vote, would bring Nevada into the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, an agreement between participating states to cast their electoral votes for the winner of the popular vote. Jerry Nadler was at it again Tuesday, waxing indignant about former White House counsel Don McGahn’s refusal to testify before the House Judiciary Committee. It’s all a show, meant to keep old news in the headlines, and to appease the large “Impeach Now!” wing of the Democratic Party without actually doing anything. Everyone on Judiciary knows perfectly well that Congress can’t compel testimony from top presidential advisers except in the most extraordinary circumstances: The chief executive’s right to frank, confidential discussions with his staff is well-established. So Nadler’s bluster about how he’ll “go to court to secure” McGahn’s appearance is just noise for the cameras. Then again, that’s all

There's a recurring theme in American science fiction where the country loses its way, endures some horrible but cleansing disaster, and then rediscovers the blessings of liberty. You'll find it in Robert Heinlein's "Future History" stories, where the Crazy Years -- a period of rapid technological advances, decaying social norms, and mass psychosis -- leads to the backlash of a religious dictatorship. The Prophets regime is eventually toppled by a liberty-loving group dedicated to individual rights. The theme is even more pronounced in Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, where a socialist regime puts the country into another Great Depression, only worse. The country's capitalists
