Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley narrowly defeated socialist Francesca Hong in the Wisconsin gubernatorial primary on Tuesday. Hong was best known for saying Thanksgiving should be canceled, the Senate should be dismantled, the police should be abolished, and that the sight of white people inside a fast food restaurant nearly gave her an anxiety attack.
According to outlets like Politico, Hong’s defeat proves moderates are still strong, and that an “emerging insurgency” of socialists is merely an overhyped narrative being peddled. Of course accepting Politico’s spiel requires you to also accept its central premise: that Crowley is a moderate.

Sports broadcaster Michele Tafoya was projected to win the Republican nomination for Minnesota's Senate seat on Tuesday evening.
Tafoya handily won the race, with her claiming 52.4% of the vote at the time of the Associated Press's 9:50 p.m. race call. Her nearest opponent was Adam Schwarze, who took 23.3% of the vote.
Her opponent was not clear as of press time, with Rep. Angie Craig, D-Minn., and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, D-Minn., locked in a close contest for the party nomination.

Mexican criminal illegal alien who smuggled over 90 firearms into the United States has pleaded guilty to federal weapons charges following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
Samuel Rodrigo Melo Santos brought the weapons into the country for the purpose of re-selling them to anyone who could buy them, including people who couldn’t legally buy them, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesman told American Greatness, Monday.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon announced that Melo Santos pleaded guilty on August 6 to being an alien in possession of a firearm and making false statements in acquisition of a firearm.

Maine has a long history of being pro-gun, at least up until recent years. Sure, it's been a blue state for a very long time, but the outdoor heritage coupled with low crime helped stave off the anti-gun push for generations. It wasn't until Lewiston that everything changed there, which is a shame. But not everyone is thrilled with gun control, and in the race for the Second Congressional District, candidates from both parties are claiming to be the champion for gun rights.
