Almost exactly a month ago, I told you the tale of the International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor, a revolting and hubris-enrobed individual named Karim Khan (whom you may remember from this most memorable of his stunts)... ...had been suspended from his schweet, schweet gig after a two-year-long (!) investigation for thinking all the ladies found him as irresistible as his mirror did and acting on that ill-founded assumption without asking politely, 'May I?' first. Now, I had not heard that the UN investigation also established the delightful and personable Mr. Khan had retaliated against other court employees who had reported the sexaul misconduct allegations, but it's certainly unsurprising.

WASHINGTON — The Manhattan prosecutor who led the “hush money” case against President Trump, in which the 45th and 47th president was convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records, played a larger role in the federal cases against the commander in chief than previously known. Matthew Colangelo joined Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s team in December 2022 after resigning as principal deputy associate attorney general. Colangelo previously served as acting associate attorney general, the third-ranked post in the Biden Justice Department. Defenders of Colangelo tried to distance him from Trump-related activities at the DOJ, but calendar records obtained by conservative watchdog America First Legal and shared with

I've written a few of these articles at this point. There was this one with a run-down of what Democratic Socialists want. And there was this one based on a Thomas Edsall column saying the DSA were really just pretending to be working class. Today the Washington Post business section has an article which, similar to the first one linked above, walks through the differences between mainstream Dems and the DSA. For instance, on how many hours people should work: The 40-hour workweek has been the law since 1940. Although some Democrats have advocated a shorter workweek, they are largely content to focus

All of you mean conservatives won't have Graham Platner to kick around anymore, as he's just officially dropped out of the Maine Senate race. He detailed his withdrawal in a letter dated Friday to Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows (who, by the way, is running to replace him on the Democrat ticket), saying, “I write to formally withdraw my candidacy for United States Senate," adding that “my name may have been on the ballot, but that ballot line belongs to the people of Maine.” Platner was expected to make things official on Monday, but opted for the age-old political tactic of dropping big news on a Friday afternoon

President Donald Trump is reportedly preparing for what could become a prolonged military campaign against Iran over the Strait of Hormuz, with the White House weighing additional military options as Tehran continues threatening commercial shipping through the strategic waterway, according to reports Thursday. The latest deliberations come after two consecutive nights of U.S. strikes against Iranian military targets following Trump’s declaration Wednesday that the U.S.-brokered ceasefire and memorandum of understanding with Tehran were “over” after Iran attacked commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking aboard Air Force One Wednesday night while returning from the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump said Iran wanted to negotiate but

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s funeral has been going on for nearly a week, but today is the final day. The final stage of the funeral procession for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the former supreme leader of Iran, set off through the holy city of Mashhad on Thursday afternoon, after days of public ceremonies that drew hundreds of thousands of mourners in Iran and Iraq. The procession in Ayatollah Khamenei’s hometown began hours later than scheduled and unfolded against the backdrop of renewed strikes between the United States and Iran. Iranian officials said that U.S. forces had struck railway bridges in the country’s northeast, disrupting passenger services on the route

If you were Zohran Mamdani's new Commissioner in the Office of International Affairs, charged with reaching out to government officials from countries that ideologically align with the mayor, who would you reach out to? The answer is obvious: Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations. It's a natural fit, right? So that is what Commissioner Ana María Archila decided to do: she scheduled a meeting with Amir-Saeid Iravani, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, to discuss how the City of New York and the regime in Tehran could work together for mutual benefit. Perhaps they could share a "Death to the United States"

The transgender-identifying former romantic partner of Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, says the alleged killer took responsibility for the shooting and said he regretted what he had done in a conversation one day after the attack. The revelation came in a video interview investigators conducted with Robinson on April 20 that was played in court for the first time on Thursday, on the fourth day of a preliminary hearing in Robinson’s case. Lance Twiggs testified that Robinson was acting “erratically” after the killing.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Wednesday that President Donald Trump has "won the argument" on NATO defense spending, crediting years of U.S. pressure with prompting Canada and European allies to take on a greater share of the alliance's security burden. Speaking at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, Carney said he spoke with Trump before the gathering and told him that NATO members increasingly recognize the need to boost military spending amid continued security threats from Russia. "It's not just that he's winning the argument — he's won the argument," Carney told reporters. "Countries realize they need to take more responsibility. They see the direct threats."

 Trump... gave the remnants of the regime a final chance: step back, accept restraint, and choose coexistence over confrontation. Iran failed that test.  The regime did not moderate. It returned to its usual methods: missiles, drones, threats, blackmail, and violence. Trump did not abandon diplomacy. Iran destroyed it.  The United States must send a clear message to every dictatorship watching: America may negotiate  That has now become a matter of American national security.  A dictatorial regime that publicly tolerates calls for the assassination of the president of the United States cannot be treated as just another difficult adversary. A red line has been crossed.

Graham Platner said that he's suspending his Senate campaign. Fine. Except that if you actually listened to his announcement video, it came loaded with conditions and a few not-so-subtle threats. And the more you look at how this is actually playing out, the less it looks like the clean exit Democrats were hoping for. According to a report from Axios, Platner privately told his campaign staff Wednesday night that he plans to file paperwork Monday to formally withdraw from Maine's Democratic Senate primary. That's the same deadline the state requires for Democrats to name a replacement nominee. He made those comments shortly before publicly announcing he was suspending his campaign.

President Donald Trump’s remarks on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Ankara, Turkey, may represent one of the most consequential shifts in America’s strategic language toward the Islamic Republic of Iran since the 1979 revolution. By warning that any new Iranian attack would trigger a far more devastating response — and by describing the regime as a "cancer" that must be removed — Trump signaled something that goes beyond conventional political rhetoric. In the language of national security, such terminology often reflects a fundamental change in how a threat is defined.

The report evaluates states based on affordability, safety, economic strength, health care, education, and quality of life. California’s ranking was driven largely by poor scores in affordability, safety, and economic strength. While the state ranked 23rd in health care and education, and 14th in quality of life,

The video, shot by a neighbor of McConnell and published by CNN Friday, shows DC Fire and EMS personnel wheeling the 84-year-old on a stretcher on the morning of June 14. The Kentucky Republican’s face is not visible, and his lower legs appear to be covered by an orange blanket with his bare feet protruding. The neighbor related to the outlet that another eyewitness had told them that McConnell was not wearing an oxygen mask when he was transported to a local hospital.
