Unsurprisingly, Democrats are willing to eliminate black-majority congressional districts through redistricting in order to gain more political power, a new poll finds. Democrat politicians and pundits have long claimed that any proposed shift away from race-based gerrymandering is racist, repeatedly weaponizing the issue to smear Republicans.
The Politico poll, conducted in the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent decision on the Voting Rights Act, shows “a lot of Democrats are willing to sacrifice Black voting power to beat the GOP.” At face value, respondents — who were Kamala Harris voters — said discriminatory gerrymandering —

While the media frames President Trump’s Beijing summit with Xi Jinping as just another high-stakes photo-op, the real story runs deeper and looks strikingly familiar. Think Abraham Accords playbook, scaled for great-power rivalry.
Recall the breakthrough of Trump’s first term: instead of chasing endless Palestinian grievances or ideological purity tests, the Abraham Accords used economic incentives, technology sharing, security cooperation, and private-sector momentum to normalize relations between Israel and key Arab states. The results isolated Iran, bypassed the old diplomatic logjams, and created tangible prosperity incentives that outlasted any single administration. Adversaries were sidelined not through endless diplomacy, but by deals that made alignment with America more attractive than the alternative.

New York City and Chicago voters made the most injudicious decisions possible electing Zohran Mamdani and Brandon Johnson to be their mayors. Both democratic socialists are inept yet destructive, unserious yet dangerous, demagogues who spew venom and traffic in incendiary divisive rhetoric. Their deranged policies will bankrupt their cities, financially, morally and culturally. Will Los Angeles voters do the same?
Actually, they already have. The question is, will they repeat their mistake and reelect Karen Bass? The current mayor is a Fidelista and a member of the Venceremos Brigade, a Cuban “enterprise that had a goal of encouraging the health and survival of a despotic, evil regime.”

The Supreme Court reaffirmed parental rights in public schools and access to federal courts this year, reinstating a permanent injunction against California's so-called gender secrecy policies that hide students' gender identity from their parents and authorizing pro-life pregnancy centers to sue New Jersey in federal court to stop speech-chilling subpoenas.
Now a Kentucky mother is asking the high court to resolve a related jurisdictional issue that could not only gut the right to know what their children are experiencing in public schools, but give all public entities a convenient path to deny public records requests.

Republican Brinker Harding is expected to face off against an undeclared Democrat this November, the Associated Press projected Tuesday, in a race to represent Nebraska's second House district next year when GOP Rep. Don Bacon retires.
Bacon announced last year that he was not seeking another term in his swing district, giving Democrats a real chance to flip the seat blue. The decision comes after Bacon won reelection in 2024 by less than two percentage points, and former Vice President Kamala Harris won the district by nearly five points.
Harding, an Omaha City Councilman, was the lone Republican in the race,

President Donald Trump said that Chinese leader Xi Jinping has committed to purchasing American energy commodities, soybeans, and jets.
In an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Trump said Beijing would buy 200 Boeing 737 jets, as well as soybeans, oil, liquefied natural gas, and other energy commodities.
“We had a very good meeting, but we want things from them,” Trump said. “One thing he agreed to today is he’s going to order 200 jets from Boeing.”
Boeing wanted China to buy 150 jets, but China agreed to exceed that number, Trump said. The CEO of Boeing, Kelly Ortberg, joined Trump on the trip,

The situation in Cuba may be at or near a breaking point. Many experts — real ones whom I trust and learn from regularly, not just whoever the MSM could dig up — are calling today the "beginning of the end" of the regime that has been in power for 67 years. On Thursday, the country's energy minister, Vicente de la O Levy, said on state media, "We have absolutely no fuel and absolutely no diesel. We have no reserves."
Of course, he went on to blame the U.S. "blockade,"which prevents other countries from sending oil to Cuba via secondary tariffs, but we all know that's not the real problem.

A controversial Virginia prosecutor apologized to the mother of a daughter slain by an illegal immigrant but still defended his county’s sanctuary policy during a contentious House hearing Thursday.
“I am deeply sorry for your loss, I say that not only as a prosecutor but as a parent of a daughter,” Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano said to Cheryl Minter, mother of Stephanie Minter, during a hearing of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement.
“I’m sorry for what you are having to endure and I promise that my office is doing everything we can to prosecute the man responsible,” Descano added.

The Republican leader of South Carolina’s state Senate defied President Donald Trump and voted against a redistricting effort that could have slashed the state’s only Democrat-led congressional district, arguing that “South Carolina is stronger when we have a vibrant Democratic Party.” Contrary to Trump’s wishes, Massey joined four other Republicans in voting against the proposal that would have allowed for the Senate to reconvene later this month for a redistricting effort.
The legislature has until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, to approve House-passed changes to the sine die resolution, which would state what the lawmakers can take up after that date.

Former MLB star Noah Syndergaard advised the New York Mets to “stop hanging out with” New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, in response to their performance this season. In an interview with Outkick’s Tomi Lahren, Syndergaard spoke about the New York Mets, and how the team’s performance this season did not make sense to him, given its “payroll.” Currently, the New York Mets are in fifth place in the National League East and have a 16-25 record.
“What advice would you give the New York Mets right now? Looking from your position, you know, it could be better,” Lahren said.
“Stop hanging out with socialist mayors, I guess,” Syndergaard responded.

The news stories are pretty much all the same. Heartless Republicans slashed Medicaid spending and let temporary “enhanced” Obamacare subsidies expire, and now millions are losing health insurance.
But buried deep within those stories, if it’s there at all, is the fact that when measured properly, enrollment for both programs is up.
Here’s a prime example.
Axios this week ran a story with the headline “Health program cuts hit home, fueling blame game.”
It begins by saying that “Sweeping changes that congressional Republicans made to the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid are starting to take effect,

On Tuesday morning, New York City’s ultra-progressive mayor, Zohran Mamdani, took to X to take quite a boastful victory lap.
“When we came into office, we uncovered a $12 billion budget deficit,” Mamdani posted to X. “Today, I’m proud to say we brought it down to zero.”
“We didn’t close the gap on the backs of working people,” he continued. “We closed it while funding parks, libraries, safer streets and making historic investments in public housing. Call it Pothole Politics. Call it Democratic Socialism. It’s government that delivers for the people who make this city run.”
“That’s what New Yorkers deserve. And that’s what we will keep fighting for every single day.”
