The Countdown to Iran’s Liberation Has Begun

In my column last week about the situation in Iran (“The Fog of Prewar in Iran”), I wrote: Many commentators, noting Trump’s oft-proclaimed desire for “peace on earth,” believe he has paused to see if negotiations with Iran might end the slaughter. I doubt it. Trump’s desire for peace is perfectly genuine. But I note that the last time he said he wanted “peace on earth” was when he was asked whether he had any New Year’s resolutions just a couple of weeks ago. That was mere hours before he unleashed hell against the Venezuelan tyrant Nicolás Maduro, extracting him and his wife —

Khamenei thinks he's hiding out. Yeah - - right - - as if we don't know exactly where he is - - and who is with him.

There are few people I will celebrate when they kick the bucket. Ayatollah, Khomeini, George Soros, and Jane Fonda head the list.

We’ve watched this demented demon ruin his country and murder thousands of innocent people for over 40 years. He should have died a long time ago. There are generations of Iranians who have never known peace or freedom. Only oppression.

New York City’s new Democratic Socialist (communist) Mayor Zohran Mamdani recently made it clear that the children of people in the country illegally will be included in the city’s new ‘free’ childcare program. He went on to reaffirm New York’s status as a sanctuary city and pushed lies about ICE arresting people without showing warrants. It’s amazing that New York City is going down this road just as a daycare centered fraud scandal is on the verge of unseating the governor and attorney general in Minnesota.

Bills pending in the Virginia state legislature could raise the state income tax a lot. The most likely to pass bill would increase the state income tax rate from 5.75% to 8% on incomes over $600,000 and 10% on incomes over $1,000,000. Another bill would impose an additional 3.8% tax (a “net investment income tax”) on most income above $500,000. If both bills pass, Virginia would have an 13.8% tax rate. That would be higher than what is currently the highest state tax rate in America, the 13.3% rate in California for households with million-dollar incomes.

Since March 2020 there has been an almost continuous refrain that the UK was not prepared for the COVID-19 pandemic – across the mainstream media, at the UK Covid Inquiry and most recently by Dominic Cummings in a Spectator interview. So much so that it seems to have become an accepted ‘truth’ regardless of the actual facts. Nevertheless there are facts, even in the postmodern dystopian world we now live in.Firstly, we did have a detailed UK Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Strategy published in 2011 and it was explicit in saying that it could be adapted to respond to other respiratory virus pandemics,

Distrust “is the new default instinct” in UK society, according to the Edelman Trust Barometer, which examines the trust that people have in business, government, media and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Its report revealed a deepening erosion of trust as “grievance has devolved into insularity” across the developed world. It found that some 76% of people in the UK are either unwilling or hesitant to trust someone whose values, facts, problem-solving approaches or cultural background differ from theirs, leaving just 24% open to trusting across divides. More than a third of Britons (35%) would rather leave a job or move to another department than report to a manager with very different values.
Here Are 9 Key Moments From Jack Smith’s
Congressional Testimony

Former Special Counsel Jack Smith testified before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday to field questions about his lawfare against President Donald Trump and egregious investigative tactics. And boy was it a doozy. Throughout the more-than-5-hour hearing, Republicans pressed Smith on numerous topics, ranging from his questionable appointment to his subpoenaing the phone records of GOP members of Congress as part of his Arctic Frost probe into Trump. For their part, Democrats did everything imaginable to run interference for Smith and obfuscate his abusive investigations.

We reported Thursday on the bizarre trophy FBI officials gave themselves to congratulate their team on the failed Arctic Frost probe, Special Counsel Jack Smith’s Don Quixote-like quest to destroy Donald Trump over alleged “election interference.” Smith himself faced prolonged grilling Thursday at a House of Representatives Judiciary Committee Hearing, and the short version is: he came off looking like a partisan hack who had exactly zero scruples when it came to his maniacal effort to bring down the (at the time private citizen, and now once again president) Donald Trump.

Welcome to "The New Monroe Doctrine," where I give you an update on what's going on in the Western Hemisphere, south of our border, especially as it relates to the United States. First, thank for all the kind emails (yes, I'm still behind on responding) and comments you sent me last week, saying you want more Latin America and Western Hemisphere stuff. I'm actually working on some big stories, but those articles are definitely a passion project and are often research-heavy and, to be honest, not the most lucrative, so I have to balance them out.
The Fog of Prewar in Iran 1 reply

Everyone knows about “the fog of war.” What about the fog of prewar? There are a lot of similarities. In the fog of war, you can’t trust media reports, in part because the media have been fed disinformation by government sources and in part because much of the media is partisan, incompetent, or both. The same is true in the fog of prewar. There is lots of disinformation, oodles of partisan reporting, impatient jockeying for position, precedence, and “the scoop.” But the distorting miasma of prewar exhibits something else: irritable impatience. “Why aren’t the authorities doing something? Where are they?”

For decades, K–12 schools across the United States have honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a way that reflected both his values and his example. On MLK Day, children have volunteered at food pantries, assembled hygiene kits for shelters, cleaned up local parks and donated books to libraries. The message was simple and powerful: citizenship requires service, and freedom comes with responsibility. After 15 years of advocacy, President Ronald Reagan signed the King Holiday Bill into law in 1983, establishing the third Monday in January as a federal holiday. It was meant to be a unifying moment in American civic life —

There’s seemingly no escape from New York – the New York tax man, that is. The Empire State is “extremely aggressive” in chasing down wealthy people who attempt to escape high taxes with moves to Florida and beyond – and that could escalate as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani works to increase taxes on top earners, experts told The Post. Many New Yorkers who mull a move believe it’s enough to follow the “six-months-and-a-day” rule, which maintains you’re a resident if you spend 184 days or more in New York, not including airport layovers and hospital stays.

Mexican officials, all the way up to the presidency, have openly embraced mass migration as a form of accelerating the “reconquista,” the term used to describe the reconquest of U.S. territory that previously belonged to Mexico. This is just one of the meticulously documented revelations in bestselling author and Breitbart News Senior Contributor Peter Schweizer’s new book, The Invisible Coup: How American Elites and Foreign Powers Use Immigration as a Weapon. Radical leftist former Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, commonly known as AMLO, and his protege and current Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum have both publicly embraced the concept of reconquista

Newsom made the announcement after meeting with WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, this week. The governor said California is now the first and only state to join WHO's Global Outbreak Alert & Response Network, which is tasked with rapidly detecting, verifying, assessing, and responding to emerging public health threats.

As millions of people braced for a massive winter storm to hit two-thirds of the country, grocery store shelves in the South, Midwest and Northeast started to look a little bare. Two essentials everyone seems to stock up on ahead of winter weather, bread and milk, were hit especially hard. But why do people gravitate to those two items in particular? Milk could go bad if you lose power, after all, and bread isn’t exactly a strong source of nutrition. Accuweather reports the idea of buying milk and bread before a winter storm dates back to the Great Blizzard of 1978, which hit New England.

The Colorado parents of a man killed Saturday morning by a U.S. Border Patrol officer in Minneapolis said they told their son recently to be careful when protesting. Family members say Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, was an intensive care nurse at a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital who cared deeply about people and was upset by President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown in his city. He had participated in protests following the killing of Renee Good, who was originally from Colorado, by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer on Jan. 7. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has gone underground, reportedly hiding out in a bunker out of fear of being wiped out by US airstrikes — as the USS Abraham Lincoln steams toward the Persian Gulf. The 86-year-old supreme leader has moved to a fortified shelter in Tehran connected to a series of elaborate underground tunnels after senior military officials warned of the increasing likelihood of an imminent US attack, Iran International reported, according to the Jerusalem Post. Khamenei has left his youngest son Masoud Khamenei, 53, in charge of running the day-to-day management of the Islamic Republic, the Jerusalem Post reported.

When Renee Good drove her car into an ICE agent earlier this month, the left tried to gaslight us into believing she was just some innocent bystander who was just at the wrong place, that she’d just dropped her son off at school and wasn’t supposed to be there. That narrative fell apart fast. Good, we soon learned, was a trained anti-ICE agitator who was absolutely there to obstruct law enforcement. Now we're watching the same playbook unfold with 37-year-old Alex Pretti, the armed agitator shot dead by Border Patrol agents on Saturday in Minneapolis while confronting agents. The talking points are already circulating.

A nurse who hoped that Donald Trump‘s White House press secretary would suffer a severe injury during childbirth is no longer employed. This is good news, because someone who wishes grave harm on political opponents should not be treating mothers and babies. There is a difference that not even all conservatives understand between free speech and explicitly wishing harm or terror on someone. Even the Founders were in agreement that calling for someone’s death or crippling injury is not, in fact, First Amendment-protected speech. And in the case of a nurse, this is particularly relevant if she fantasizes about medical catastrophe

Rather than play statesman on the world stage, Gavin Newsom brought his troll act to Davos — and it bombed. Trump is alienating our allies through his boorish rhetoric, Democrats routinely scream. Yet Newsom opted to be at least as boorish, slamming foreign leaders for being too polite to Trump — in the crudest language possible: “I can’t take this complicity, people rolling over. I should have brought a bunch of kneepads for all the world leaders.” Newsom has used the sexually-suggestive and degrading “kneepads” line before, bashing Republicans who defer to the prez. Used it because it works . . . among partisan Democrats.
