James Fishback and Redefining American Populism

"If you’re allowing Blackstone to come in and outbid a family of four from buying their home, now they get trapped in a one-bedroom apartment on the wrong side of town. Their entire life trajectory has been upended because a private equity institution came in and outbid them.”
– James Fishback, GOP candidate for governor of Florida, speaking to Pirate WiresWhat Fishback is describing is indeed, as he puts it, “the number one problem in America: affordability.” He goes on to explain what is an inevitable premise of nationalism: “If you can’t buy a home, you can’t get married. If you can’t get married, you can’t have kids. If you can’t have kids, what’s the point?” Criticizing a childless life and extolling the virtues and fulfillment of a life that includes having children is the point Fishback is referring to, but he would probably agree it is also the point, the reason, and the required element for preserving a nation.

Populism has far closer ideological ties to socialism and left wing progressivism than it does to conservatism. Fishback's theory about having to buy a home to get married and have kids is pure bunk. I'm sure there are plenty of other people on this site like me, who grew up in military base housing. Government has no business in a country where freedom and liberty are core values, picking and choosing who is worthy of buying a home and who is not.

Let’s start out by stating that I am A conservative American and supporter of PDJT- 3 times. Fishback is a nativist and a borderline anti Semite. It’s not coincidence that the hedge fund that he complains about is Blackstone. It’s also not coincidence that he extols hos rights under the first amendment to accuse Bibi Netanyahu of war crimes and accuse Israel of committing g genocide. These are not NORMAL positions of most conservatives. There is something g very bad and different about this particular candidate. I think he is a POS and I will work for and donate to his opponent- probably Donalds.

Lots of American, legal immigrants from Europe had families while living in apartments. You know, back in the old days when owning a home was more the exception, especially if you loved in a city, then the rule. Since when is owning a home a requirement to start a family/raise a family?

After years of Washington politicians lining the pockets of insurance companies and anointing them “essential partners,” President Trump has called out the insurance monopoly for what it is. “Let the money go not to the big fat cats and the insurance companies that made 1,700 percent over a short period of time,” President Trump said. “Let the money go directly to the people, where they can buy their own health care.” The big health insurance companies that have gorged themselves at the Obamacare trough are finally being put under the spotlight and held to account.

An illegal Venezuelan migrant was shot in the leg by a federal immigration agent in Minneapolis after he allegedly fled during a traffic stop and beat the “ambushed” officer with a snow shovel Wednesday evening, the Department of Homeland Security said. The suspect was behind the wheel when he tried to get away from federal immigration officers at around 6:50 p.m. local time, but he crashed into a parked car, according to DHS. The migrant then tried to escape on foot and “violently assault[ed] the officer” as the two wrestled on the ground, according to an X post from the agency.

Democrats Are Being Warned Not to Say
‘Abolish ICE’ Because it’s a Losing
Political Message

Democrats are being told not to say ‘abolish ICE’ because it will hurt their chances in the midterms. Of course, they want to say it and they believe it, they even want to do it, but it’s a losing political message and they know it. It is basically ‘defund the police’ all over again, and even though they meant that one too, they know that it damaged them politically. Saying ‘abolish ICE’ simply reinforces the idea that Democrats care more about illegal aliens than they do about American citizens, a concept that they have done nothing to dispel in recent months.

On Wednesday, after a closed-door meeting with American officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen held a press conference. His remarks sounded cautiously optimistic. The narrative presented by the American president, as we've been reporting, is that Greenland should become an American possession. Needless to say, Denmark and Greenland aren't keen on the idea. While it seems unlikely that the United States would attempt to take Greenland by force, the big island does in fact occupy a vital strategic position in the North Atlantic; it's something worth trying to make a deal over.
Amazon Accused of Throttling Pro-Gun Author's Sales 1 reply

There's a lot to dislike about Amazon as a company, but one thing it did was allow people to have access to legions of potential customers. This is true for authors who might not have the name to get into a lot of bookstores, but also for people selling any number of other products. And, as a private company, Amazon has some discretion in what they sell and what it won't. I don't always agree with that position, but as someone who has been a business owner more than once, I'm fine with it because I don't want people telling me what I have to do with my business, either.

Judges typically don't weigh in on legislation before it becomes law (and is subject to litigation), but a trio of federal judges are speaking out in favor of a bill in Congress that would grant them the right to carry a concealed firearm in all 50 states. Writing at the Wall St. Journal, judges Elizabeth Branch and Robert L. Wilkins (and supported by Judge Trevor N. McFadden) have come out in favor of Sen. Tom Cotton's Protect Our Prosecutors and Judges Act, which would amend the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act and allow prosecutors and federal judges with a concealed carry permit to carry across state lines,

And this is where Hoch says is the heart of the ongoing continuing criminal enterprise. Hoch says the new video will show that most of these companies are Somali-owned, and his and Shirley's visit to these companies found zero—

The Department of Housing and Urban Development likely paid out more than $84 million in ineligible assistance to Minnesota during President Joe Biden’s final year in office — including to more than 500 “deceased tenants,” according to officials and documents reviewed by The Post. HUD has been looking into billions of dollars in taxpayer-funded housing aid doled out by the Biden administration — and its most recent review found $84.6 million in potentially erroneous payments in fiscal year 2024. That included up to $496,000 in improper assistance to 509 dead tenants. Approximately $246,000 more was shelled out to 20 people whose Social Security numbers couldn’t be verified, meaning they were likely non-citizens.

Eleven House Democrats jumped party lines to vote with their Republican counterparts in a bid to overturn regulations pushed during former President Joe Biden’s tenure. According to Fox News, the House of Representatives voted 226-197 to overturn Biden-era regulations effectively aimed at restricting how strong shower heads could be. Federal law already caps how much water a shower head is allowed to emit. During the Biden administration, regulators took a broader view of that rule. They concluded that showers equipped with multiple nozzles had to be treated as a single unit, meaning the total water flow across all heads could not exceed the legal maximum.

President Donald Trump's push to seize Greenland might be the least popular idea in American political history. Is that hyperbole? If so, that's only because reliable and fast public polling is a relatively recent development within our 250-year experiment in self-governance. A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Wednesday found a staggering 4 percent of Americans favor the idea of seizing Greenland with military force. Among Republicans, the idea is actually twice as popular: 8 percent say taking the island is a "good idea."

A proposal by Washington state Democrats to ban most law enforcement officers from wearing face-concealing masks during public operations is drawing sharp criticism from federal officials, who warn the measure could endanger officers at a time when violence and threats against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are rising dramatically nationwide. If enacted, Senate Bill 5855 would prohibit local, state, and federal law enforcement officers, including ICE agents, from wearing masks that obscure their identities during public interactions, with limited exceptions for undercover assignments and certain tactical operations. The bill received its first hearing on Tuesday before the Washington Senate Law & Justice Committee.

His questioning cut right through activist jargon and forced the case onto solid legal ground, revealing just how contorted the arguments become when ideology collides with biological reality. For instance, when transgender activists are asked a simple question — “What is a woman?” — the response is usually a circular word salad claiming that “a woman is anyone who identifies as a woman.” Using a word to define itself explains nothing,
