Joint Chiefs Gen. Dan Caine provided details Saturday on how the U.S. military and various intelligence agencies worked together to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, revealing that more than 150 aircraft were launched in close coordination in a mission called "Operation Absolute Resolve."
Caine said the operation began "during the darkest hours of January 2nd and was the culmination of months of planning and rehearsal," and one that "only the United States military could undertake."
"It required the utmost of precision and integration within our joint force, and the word integration does not explain the sheer complexity of such a mission, an extraction so precise

Democrats face persistent internal discord, unresolved strategic debates, and voter skepticism that threatens to complicate their path toward unity and success in the 2028 presidential election.
As Democrats begin 2026 with renewed optimism about flipping the House, the underlying fractures within the party have not healed. A Hill report published this week highlights how, even amid growing discontent with Donald Trump’s second term, Democrats continue to struggle with deep divisions, conflicting ideological strategies, and questions about leadership — raising serious concerns about their ability to coalesce ahead of the next presidential cycle.
“Democrats are finding their way out of political wilderness,”

In what Secretary of War Pete Hegseth described as a "flawlessly executed" demonstration of American military superiority, U.S. Special Operations forces executed a lightning-fast raid in Venezuela in the early-morning hours Saturday, capturing and arresting Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on charges of narco-terrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices. Maduro's wife, Cilia Flores, was also captured in the raid.
The extraction was carried out by operators from the U.S. Army's Delta Force, supported by the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment's advanced helicopters.

Thug-dictator and illegitimate Venezuelan "president" Nicolás Maduro is now facing charges in the United States. Much of the international community (except Venezuela's neighbors) has been waving their hands and twittering their consternation. Most of Europe is upset, and honestly, they can be upset all they like; it's not their hemisphere.
Of course, it's not China's hemisphere, either, but they have economic ties to the late, unlamented Maduro regime; and, in fact, the Middle Kingdom has a delegation in Caracas right now, no doubt still burping from a late lunch and wondering just what the heck they're supposed to do now.

Until the past 24 hours, Nicolás Maduro Moros and other Venezuelan high-ranking individuals in the Maduro regime ran the Cartel of the Suns (Cartel de los Soles). Now that the U.S. has penetrated Venezuela’s defenses to capture and arrest Maduro, things have changed.
Maduro and his regime had corrupted the institutions of that country, including its military, its intelligence apparatus, its legislature, and its judiciary, all to aid his cartel’s massive criminal operations.
The Cartel de los Soles originated in Venezuela, and has been involved in the illicit drug trade, human smuggling and trafficking, extortion, sexual exploitation of women and children, and money laundering, along with other criminal activities.

Have you ever wondered why Democrats are so aggressively defending rampant fraud in Minnesota? Why Gov. Tim Walz so desperately wants to handle the investigation on his own? There’s a simple explanation: it has nothing to do with protecting vulnerable communities or fighting discrimination. Democrats are shielding these schemes because they profit directly from them.
Somali-run childcare centers, adult care facilities, and social service operations across the country are getting funded through programs riddled with fraud, and then the Democrats who enabled the fraud and looked the other way get a kickback.
The arrangement works beautifully for everyone except the taxpayers funding it.

CARACAS, Venezuela — At least seven explosions and low-flying aircraft were heard around 2 a.m. local time Saturday in the capital, Caracas. Venezuela’s government accused the United States of attacking civilian and military installations in multiple states.
Pentagon referred requests for comment to the White House, which didn’t immediately return an email seeking comment. Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Authority has banned U.S. commercial flights in Venezuelan airspace over “ongoing military activity” ahead of explosions in Caracas.
The FAA’s warning, known as “Notice to Airmen,” came shortly after one in the morning on the east coast of the U.S. It warned all commercial and private U.S. pilots that the airspace over Venezuela and

French actor George Clooney struck back at President Donald Trump’s snide remarks about him and urged Americans to kick Republicans out of office in the coming 2026 midterm elections.
Clooney had attacked President Trump in an interview with Variety released on Monday, and the president responded in no uncertain terms, trolling Clooney for his many “mediocre” movies and celebrating the fact that Clooney is now a citizen of France and has let the U.S.A.
Trump reported the “good news” on New Year’s Eve on his Truth Social account calling Clooney and his wife, Amal, ” two of the worst political prognosticators of all time.”

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has made it abundantly clear: he loves collectivism and hates individualism, and intends to implement his collectivist vision as fully as he possibly can while he lives in Gracie Mansion. He has been marketed as an exciting new face, full of energy and brimming with new ideas, but in reality, he is fronting for ideas that are both old and discredited and that are responsible for the deaths of untold millions of people. On Thursday, a man from one of the populations that has suffered the most because of collectivism gently mocked Mamdani’s delusions and pretensions.

Is it even worth saying “We told you so” at this point? There’s really no satisfaction about being right about Zohran Mamdani, and now we all have to sit and watch him not only destroy New York City but also turn it into a haven for antisemitism.
On day one of his administration, Mamdani tossed Jewish safety concerns straight into the trash. Within hours of taking office, he revoked several executive orders Eric Adams had put in place to protect the city's Jewish community and support Israel.
If you're wondering whether New York City will remain safe for Jews, Mamdani just answered that question, and the answer isn't reassuring.

Immigration lawyers are warning that federal agencies are increasingly skeptical when migrants claim to have legitimate marriages with Americans.
The policy shift comes after President Donald Trump’s deputies began cracking down on rising rates of marriage-related visa fraud by migrants who pay Americans for temporary marriages.
While marrying a U.S. citizen has never been a locked-in guarantee that a migrant would be issued a green card, marriages have previously offered a huge boost to a migrant’s request for legal status. But that may be changing as immigration attorneys are finding that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) are giving such marriages much closer scrutiny than ever before.
