The federal government posted an unexpected budget surplus in June, fueled by a sharp rise in tariff revenues and higher-than-anticipated tax receipts, marking a notable vindication for President Donald Trump’s economic strategy.
The $27 billion surplus reported Friday by the Treasury Department stood in stark contrast to forecasts for a $50 billion deficit, representing one of the largest upside surprises in recent budget data.
Monthly surpluses typically occur in April, when many Americans file their taxes. Surpluses are also common in January and September. A June surplus is highly unusual.

My woke liberal friend told me yesterday she got $5000 more on her stocks this time. She never got that much before. I said Trump promised to do this. She did not reply. lol

A “surprise” only to the Panicans. Just like use of the term “unexpected” with all the other successful outcomes from the MAGA agenda.

Oh, and there's no inflation like all the Panicans predicted. Predator countries are eating the tariffs and not passing them on to American consumers.

This shouldn't be a surprise at all. Trump's intentions have been stated clearly. His success in accomplishing his intentions is excellent. A surprise would be if he failed.
We are still hearing from the Leftist naysayers and those who are timid and terrified of change. Trump is blazing a bright path of success by pursuing things in a manner that has been long proven to work mixed in with innovative approaches tailored to the modern world. His missteps are few and quickly reviewed and adjustments made to get the desired results.
Historians will look back and ask "Why didn't we try that before? What took us so long to succeed?" The surprise will be that it took only one man of vision, resolve, and faith in America's founding principles to put us on the right course.

My observation is that tariffs are indeed a tax paid partially by us, but it's a brilliant tax if constructed and negotiated properly. Unlike other taxes which are paid totally by us, tariffs are also paid partially by the companies of other countries whose products are competing with our companies (that employ our people). In effect, the tariffs force these external companies to either lower their prices so the net price is still competitive or begin building their products here and employing our people.
That's the kind of tax I'm happy to pay. It's brilliant. It actually generates more jobs and more revenues here. It will be very interesting to see just how much more in the coming 4 years.

And what’s more the dreaded price increases from tariffs are not about to happen. Another no surprise. We have over 40% of the world’s consumer market. But unlike any other country we are capable of meeting its needs domestically if required. No one can afford to lose us.

And yet as soon as Trump mentions tariffs, the stock marker drops.
And Grover Norquist is saying tariffs are taxes so why isn't he against the tariffs/taxes imposed on US goods by other countries? He only complains about our tariffs on their imported goods into the US.

Don't know what to say...perhaps I told you so.....President Trump is a winner in all he tackles...so this bit of news doesn't surprise me....what does surprise is...the economists that regularly appear on the news tellings US that WE're gonna be sorry...WE 're gonna have a recession...and prices for all goods will rise and become impossible to get....I think I'm gonna just listen to President Trump and trust his judgments....

My sympathy goes out to those who have overpaid for their BMWs since - forever, so they could think they were driving a better car than we peons. Surprise, you were only helping the Germans to achieve their 30-hour work week and one month vacations. It's a little different there now.

This is just a taste of what is coming. The Big Beautiful Bill, is a set up to Trumps govt. coming in under budget each year of his presidency. It is classic real estate management “on time and under budget.” No more letting departments spend any left over funds.

I'm not surprised that Trump has had some positive revenue figures by his force of will, and never argued to the contrary but I'm not happy that any president believes it is necessary to willfully violate the Constitution, which clearly vests such specific, separated power and authority in Article I, not Article II. I understand that this issue doesn't bother many observers/supporters but having sworn my first oath to support and defend the Constitution at age 17, enlisting in military service, and many other times since, as different positions (e.g., officer vs enlisted, LEO, federal executive service) required the same oath, I take them seriously, as they did not come with an expiration date.
