Uncontrolled wildfires raged through Los Angeles in January, all but destroying the neighborhoods of Pacific Palisades and Altadena. We at RedState covered extensively the mistakes made before the fires and after they broke out—including empty reservoirs, a missing mayor, a failure to clean out forests, a fire department that was as focused on social justice as much or more than it was about fighting fires, and more. But now we’re in the aftermath. Despite Mayor Karen Bass’ excited updates about how well it’s going, one Palisades resident begs to differ. In fact, he said recovery efforts are going extremely badly.

A Michigan antisemite was plotting to massacre kids at a Jewish daycare and tried to illegally buy assault weapons after hurling threats at the preschoolers, federal prosecutors have revealed.
Hassan Chokr, 35, was out on bail when he drove through the parking lot of Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Hills, outside Detroit, and shouted antisemitic slurs and threats as parents dropped off their kids in December 2022, authorities said.
He pleaded guilty to federal gun charges on May 28.

Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, admitted to a detective that he initially planned on gunning down his victims, even taking a concealed-carry class where he learned how to fire a weapon, authorities said.
But the Egyptian national was blocked from purchasing the weapon because his US visa had expired, Judicial District Attorney Michael Dougherty said at a press conference Monday afternoon in Boulder.

Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called on outgoing Trump administration official and Tesla CEO Elon Musk to apologize for measures taken by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“He says he’s in a bind,” Schumer said. “The American people are in a bind because of what Musk did. His DOGE, which, you know, didn’t go, didn’t do as much as he wanted it to do, but still did huge amounts of damage in terms of the firing of employees, the decimation of agencies like health care, like going after, making sure drugs and food is safe, nuclear energy is safe.
“Never let a good crisis go to waste.” The phrase is often attributed to Winston Churchill, as well as former Barack Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.
Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin (D) is apparently taking that message to heart and is using Sunday’s tragic terror attack in Boulder, Colorado by a deranged antisemite against marchers from the American Jewish group "Run for Their Lives" to push for an agenda that has nothing to do with the assault: gun control.
If only we could get rid of those dreaded "military style assault weapons," attacks like this wouldn't happen.

The violations involved Citizens for Waters accepting $19,000 in excessive contributions from multiple individuals, exceeding the $2,800 individual limit, as well as making $7,000 worth of “prohibited cash disbursements” from a petty cash fund, all during the 2020 election cycle.
The group's treasurer, referred to as the "committee" in the FEC filing, is accused of "knowingly accepting excessive contributions" and "failing to accurately report both receipts and disbursements made."

Democrats have been demonizing and whipping up anger against ICE and other federal agents trying to do their jobs for immigration enforcement. It's despicable what they have been doing.
They've had people like Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) referring to them as "Gestapo." Goldman also attacked ICE and federal agents for wearing masks during immigration enforcement. He even questioned them for wearing plain clothes in a bizarre attack - as though police marking down a suspect would/should wear police outfits that would scare off the person they're trying to arrest.

The organization will shell out hundreds of millions of dollars to organizations to advocate against Trump’s policies, including possible cuts to Medicaid. It will also help to register younger Americans to vote.

Hundreds of peonies were vandalized at a University of Michigan garden at the peak of the flowers' bloom time.
The vandalism happened late Saturday and was discovered Wednesday at the WE Upjohn Peony Garden in the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum. A shooting at a Minnesota park has left one woman dead and five men wounded. On Sunday, June 1, at about 9:30 p.m., officers were called to Boom Island Park in Minneapolis for reports of shots fired that were quickly upgraded to reports of a shooting, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said at a press conference the next morning.
