Zelensky’s Gauntlet – Did Ukraine

First the cliff notes version: There’s an important detail to remember. People are laughing at the long-range Russian bombers being left out in the open, vulnerable to attack. However, the bomber visibility is required as part of several nuclear agreements between the USA and Russia (SALT and START). Our U.S. long range nuclear capable bombers, covered under the same agreements, are also visible. Ukraine President Zelenskyy is playing with fire by targeting them, which also explains why Zelenskyy never told President Trump in advance. The U.S and NATO have provided the means. However, #1) did Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy just exploit a vulnerability by targeting Russian long-range nuclear capable bombers?

And sol what would you expect to follow? Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and by extension his NATO enablers, just exploited that SALT/START vulnerability and used drones to attack Russian bombers covered by USA-Russia treaties. There are reports (and videos) now surfacing from inside Russia showing the Russian Federation moving strategic long-range mobile missile launchers into position for a counterattack against Ukraine.

Those same bombers have been used almost daily to launch dozens of cruise missiles into Ukraine. These were abstolutely legitimate, relevant military targets in this war. The fact that they could possibly carry nuclear armed cruise missiles does not make them off the table when they are actively being used to kill Ukrainian civilians on an ongoing basis.

The blood sucking War Pigs that have driven past 40 off ramps for this entire conflict won't be happy till half of Europe is a glazed parking lot. Anyone that thinks either side is worth fighting and dying for, I implore you, buy a plane ticket, get over there ASAP, kit up and get at it. Probably for the first time in human history we have a LOT of the behind the scenes info (I know not all) and are watching in real time the stupidity, hubris and corruption, that those marching nations towards war knowing that most of them (or their families) will never have to face the horror that they are Hell bent on creating.

Regardless of Sundance's intentions, it is high time rein in Zelensky and also bluntly inform Putin that using assets protected by SALT/START against Ukraine will simply result in their coming off the protected list. Let Putin decide.

I've about had my fill of Sundance licking Putin's shoes. Every source I've been able to locate shows that Ukraine hit those bombers with drones of Ukrainian design. Period. If Sundance is so vested in victory for the Russian Federation that he's willing to invent his own facts, then I don't have a lot of use for the man's content. He can stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

I am not a fan of US involvement in this war. That said, this was a legit target; required zero US help; and was brilliant and limited to combatants. Fair game. The idea that greatly weakening Russia's ability to attack us brings us closer to war is stupid. Russia is a bully. When it does have (or think it has) the total ability to dominate, it will cower. They had, by most estimates, 27 flying Backfires. This took out somewhere between 1/2 and most of them.

I would have expected that after 3 years of devastation from drones that Russia would have combat aircraft , separated, well camouflaged, and within heavy barriers at airbases. But I certainly am no expert. Perhaps modern drones and targeting systems can be effective anyway. I recently saw a WW2 film and one of our blunders before Pearl Harbor was to concentrate aircraft so the airfields would be easier to protect from saboteurs.

I'm disgusted both by Sundance & roughly half the commenters here. Rant follows. Remember, PUTIN started this war (It IS a full blown war!) and Russia has DELIBERATELY targeted civilians. The aircraft bombed were being used to do much of the killing. Short of using NBC weapons and espionage, what more can Putin do? He's effectively thrown in all his available land and air forces - it's a real war after all. He only attacked Ukraine because he thought it would be a pushover. Short of Russia's imminent destruction, expanding the war to NATO countries would just give him a bigger headache. Should Zelensky just supinely lay down and take it to keep from ruffling the feathers of our timid and selfish pantywaist isolationists? NO. If it were the USA being attacked, I'm sure many of these same commenters (other than the Russia fans or Russian trolls) would be screaming for our armed forces to trek to Moscow for Putin's head.

Last week Ukraine presented President Donald Trump with their “term sheets,” what they require in order to accept a ceasefire. Today in Istanbul, Turkey, the Russian Federation presented the Ukraine delegation, and likely a transmission to the White House, with the Russian “term sheets.” This further clarifies the content of the significant meetings this afternoon in the White House, where President Trump assembled his “military leadership” and likely foreign policy team. (snip) Medinsky said that Russia has prepared a two-part “memorandum” proposing a ceasefire and ending the war it started.
