Bob Menendez's resignation from the US Senate became official Tuesday, a much-anticipated move that follows his conviction on bribery charges in July.
The New Jersey Democrat was found guilty on 16 counts tied to a scheme where he accepted bribes, including gold bars and a Mercedes-Benz, to aid the Qatari and Egyptian governments.
He will face a potentially lengthy prison term at his sentencing in October.

The latest faux controversy to envelop Donald Trump’s campaign has to do with the history of a small town in Michigan. The Democrats want to turn a Trump visit into a renewed debate about white supremacy.
If only they’d checked who’d visited before Trump did.
Howell, Michigan, is the county seat of Livingston County, which contains a not insignificant share of Detroit’s suburbs. That makes it key for both Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris to carry the area if they want to win a state that has, over the past few election cycles, been decided by razor-thin margins.

A federal appeals court ruled that Minnesota's law that bans people ages 18 to 20 from obtaining permits to carry guns is unconstitutional, prompting criticism over Governor Tim Walz's stance on the Second Amendment.

This ruling affirms the constitutional rights of all law-abiding citizens to bear arms," Republican Minnesota Rep. Pete Stauber said in a statement to Fox News Digital. A federal judge has ordered California to accept concealed carry applications from out-of-state residents. This victory is the second time a state has been forced to issue out-of-state concealed carry permits this month. Early in August, New York City passed an emergency order to issue permits to non-New York residents to avoid a lawsuit by Gun Owners of America. In this case plaintiffs filed the lawsuit in the United States Central District Court of California. The suit challenges California’s refusal to issue or recognize out-of-state concealed carry permits, the exorbitant fees to obtain a concealed carry permit, the long wait times, the required psychological exam, and the discretionary denials

Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) eviscerated Vice President Kamala Harris during a campaign stop in North Carolina Wednesday, making the case that she is wholly unable to handle herself in a true leadership capacity.
“Kamala Harris hasn’t won a single vote for the Democratic Party,” Vance said, discussing how Democrat elites overrode the will of 14 million Democrat primary voters and instead coronated Harris as their top-of-the-ticket nominee. “Democrats, they think they’ve cracked the code for how to appeal to normal Americans,” he said, mocking Democrats for distributing camo hats with Harris’s name on them at the DNC.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett decided that California’s ban on concealed carry permits for non-residents fails standards set forth by Bruen (2022) and Rahimi (2024). Therefore, Garnett, a Joe Biden appointee, issued an injunction against the ban. The case focused on the prohibition against permit issuance to out-of-state residents. Gun Owners Foundation highlighted portions of Garnett’s decision wherein she wrote, “Here, Plaintiffs have… demonstrated that the text of the Second Amendment likely applies to the first of its arguments, that non-residents have the right, like California residents, to apply to lawfully carry firearms for self-defense while in public.”

A massive new statue has been unveiled in the United States, with the gargantuan construct not honoring a famous American or historical figure but rather a polytheistic group’s god with the head of a monkey.
The “Statue of Union” was inaugurated Aug. 18 at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Hindu Temple in Sugar Land, Texas.
It depicts the Hindu god Lord Hanuman, one of the religion’s countless deities. Hanuman, a god of strength, devotion and selfless service, is most often depicted with the head and tail of a monkey.
The monument stands exactly 89.7 feet tall, making it the third-tallest statue in the United States, according to the “Statue of Union” website.

As armored and ‘maneuver warfare’ emerges in Europe, the one weapon that can pin down enemy steel and infantry, which Ukraine lacks in large numbers, Russia has and the US is fervently potentiating, is the attack helicopter.
The stunning Ukrainian incursion into Kursk finally marks the dawn of Western ‘maneuver warfare’ on the front. Fast moving mechanized formations assaulted the frontline ‘screens’, driving deep into the enemy rear, exploiting the lack of Russian defensive preparedness there. But as Western think-tanks like the ISW (Institute for the Study of War) suggest, it is important to capitalize on the “operational surprise,” “restore” maneuver warfare and address the “problems” with “permanent positional warfare.”

Biden loyalists, and indeed, Joe Biden himself, are still angry at how he was pushed out of the race, and then, adding insult to injury, his Swan Song was pushed to 11:30pm ET Monday night—well after primetime. Nair believes in eradicating purported "White supremacy" in the nuclear field as well as "queering nuclear weapons" as part of a diversity, equity and inclusion push she believes is essential for deterring threats to nuclear energy facilities in the U.S.

In response to free vasectomy and abortion services, Pro-Life advocates will be distributing free diapers outside the Democratic National Convention (DNC) on Tuesday.
Pro-life advocates launched a counterprogramming effort against a mobile clinic that offered free abortions and vasectomies during the DNC in Chicago. Planned Parenthood stationed the truck near the convention site, aiming to serve around 35 patients, according to the New York Post. In response, EveryLife, a pro-life diaper company, announced its initiative to provide free diapers to mothers considering alternatives to abortion.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has waded into American politics once again, saying that he is worried about his safety if Donald Trump returns to the White House and that the left-wing Labour Party should openly support the campaign of Kamala Harris.
The far-left Mayor of London, who has a long history of public verbal spats with former President Donald Trump, said in an interview with the globalist New Statesman this week that he has personal fears of the Republican nominee being victorious in the presidential election in November.

About a quarter of British households are so worried about their electricity bills they are considering spending next heating season without heat or hot water, a survey by Citizens Advice has suggested.
The concern follows plans by the national electricity market regulator to raise the cap on bills by another 9.2%, equal to 150 pounds or $195. The Citizens Advice report said the percentage of those worried about the affordability of their electricity was substantially higher among households with children, where the percentage was 31%, and low-income households, where 39% were worried about the coming heating season.

How are you supposed to run a party convention? And how are you supposed to behave when you stage one?
Can’t look to the Constitution for guidance; the Constitution was silent on political parties, since its writers hoped against hope that parties might never develop.
But we can look at recent election years, and we can see how parties behave in different environments. There is a way to behave when the nation is at war, and there is another way to behave when the nation is enjoying an economic boom. There is a way to behave when things are bad and your party has the solutions to fix it;

DETROIT – Ford Motor is delaying production of a new plant in Tennessee to produce a next-generation all-electric pickup truck and canceling plans for a three-row electric SUV, the company said Wednesday.
Instead, Ford said it will prioritize the development of hybrid models, as well as electric commercial vehicles such as a new electric commercial van in 2026, followed by two pickup trucks in 2027. The pickups are expected to be a full-size truck, which will be produced at the Tennessee plant that's currently under construction in 2027, and a new midsize pickup.
Ford said it will incur a special non-cash charge of about $400 million for the write-down

It wasn’t Senator McGovern who in 1972, accepted the nomination way past midnight. I remember my mother coming into my room and asking what crazy stuff I was watching that weird time of the day. I told my mother that it was Senator McGovern accepting the nomination and she seemed a bit confused.
Well, the DNC handed President Trump the ultimate indignity of his former opponent, a midnight speech that few people probably watched.
This is from Chloe Meyer:
Joe Biden’s historic and emotional farewell speech was bumped from prime-time TV, prompting disbelief and anger—and sparking various theories from viewers.

Along with Nouriel Roubini, this article quotes Mark Zandi and Paul Krugman, both of whom predicted in 2016 that President Trump’s policies would cause massive job losses and a great recession as they campaigned for Hillary Clinton. They are all partisan hacks. They are not independent economists who analyze based on facts.
These dire predictions are part of the Democrat playbook.
From Yahoo Finance on Sunday:
Roubini: Certain Trump economic proposals are ‘highly dangerous’ for markets
Veteran economist Nouriel Roubini told me that Trump’s proposed policies — including across-the-board tariffs and an extension of the 2017 tax cuts

Night two of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) probably cannot go any worse for the wayward Democrat Party than night one did … but it just might. (Video) On the second night at the “mostly peaceful” gathering of leftists in Chicago, Illinois, former President Barack Obama will return to the main stage and spotlight to give the keynote address at the end of the evening. His wife, former first lady Michelle Obama, will speak earlier in the evening. Interestingly, several Democrats are quite openly referring to Michelle Obama as their “dream candidate,” which means despite the hullabaloo from across the media that Vice President Kamala Harris is not

As Democrat elites "feast" on Chicago's best food and drink, the attention to the party's 2024 presidential ticket of Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is overshadowing the Windy City's persistent problems of violence and policy failures, according to a former city police chief. "There's a lot of ironies associated with the DNC being held at the United Center," Gene Roy, the Chicago Police Department's former chief of detectives and a public safety consultant, told Fox News Digital.

Conservatives were making hay about Kamala Harris’ latest “word salad” at a campaign event in Pennsylvania, where, in an attempt to sound intelligent, she went on about the “duality of democracy.”
“They took Kamala off the teleprompter today in Pennsylvania,” Outkick.com founder Clay Travis posted on X. “It didn’t go well.”
But conservatives have it wrong. It’s actually much worse than that.
Harris has been uttering this particular word salad for years – robotically, using almost the exact same phraseology, and at almost any public event where she was allowed to speak, whether or not it was relevant.

If Americans think Joe Biden’s economy’s bad, then just wait ‘til they get Kamala Harris’s economy.
Over the last four years, Biden’s excessive spending has helped stoke the inflation inferno that has consumed average Americans’ paychecks. But as big as Biden has spent, Harris wants to spend even bigger. Not simply dependent on the extreme left, as Biden has been, Harris is one of them and brings their spending priorities with her.

It’s time to put to bed the debate over whether it was intention or incompetence that forced Joe Biden’s convention speech into a slot well past prime time.
All the evidence points to intent.
Organizers scheduled too many speakers and knew what they were going to say because it was all loaded on to TelePrompters. No matter their lame defenses Tuesday, they had to assume there would be time spent on applause and transitions, so Biden’s finishing well after midnight on the East Coast could not be a surprise to them.
Then again, who can fault the organizers for wanting to hide him?

Former First Lady Michelle Obama played the race card against former President Donald Trump in her speech to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, on Tuesday night, accusing him of opposing her and former President Barack Obama because of racism.
Gone was the speaker who told Democrats in 2016, “When they go low, we go high.” Instead, there was this, on behalf of Vice President Kamala Harris:We know folks are gonna do everything they can to distort her truth. My husband and I, sadly, know a little something about this. For years, Donald Trump did everything in his power try to make people fear us.

For a moment on Tuesday, it was 2008 all over again at the Democratic National Convention.
“I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling fired up. I am feeling ready to go,” former president Barack Obama said to open his headlining speech, harking back to his 2008 campaign chant. “I am feeling hopeful, because this convention has always been pretty good to kids with funny names who believe in a country where anything is possible.”
There were the chants of “Yes, we can” and “Yes, she can.” There was the talk of “hope making a comeback,” a blatant effort by the Democrats to try to inject some of Obama’s 2008 magic

Former president Barack Obama took to his hometown stage on Tuesday night to thunderous applause and cheers, providing the keynote address for the second night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
In a speech that hailed Joe Biden as a hero, blasted Donald Trump as whiny, and praised Kamala Harris as ready on Day 1, Obama's speech was geared towards rallying the troops, noting at one point that the folks in the crowd not "boo" Donald Trump, but instead go out and vote.
Obama's speech is noteworthy because of his alleged role in the ouster of his former vice president, and current U.S. president, Joe Biden.

In a follow up to his nonsensical and false analysis from the previous evening, CNN’s Chris Wallace kicked off Night Two of the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday by boasting about Vice President Kamala Harris’s “love affair” with American voters.
Calling it “a very interesting thing,” Wallace touted how “Joe Biden dropped out of this race 30 days ago, and that is played very much to Kamala Harris's advantage.” According to him, that advantage meant, “She's had this kind of speed dating relationship with voters and so far, it's a love affair!”
Does her husband, Doug know?!
The analogy falls apart when one takes into consideration that even in speed dating,
