President Joe Biden is taking another shot at student loan cancellation, hoping to deliver on a key campaign promise that he has so far failed to fulfill.
In a visit to Wisconsin on Monday, Biden detailed a proposal that would cancel at least some debt for more than 30 million Americans. It’s been in the works for months after the Supreme Court rejected Biden’s first try at mass cancellation.
Biden called the court’s decision a “mistake” but ordered the Education Department to craft a new plan using a different legal authority. The latest proposal is more targeted than his original plan, focusing on those for whom student debt is a major obstacle.

He still hasn't the authority to do it.

So, you know if Trump was doing this, the media and the Democrats would be screaming about how "he's abusing his authority and acting like a dictator", right?
RNC should be reminding people during the campaign of 2024 that the Biden administration does not have the constitutional authority to waive student loans as per the SCOTUS decision. Leave it at that, and let the Dems explain how they can legally expunge such contracts without it being considered a taxable benefit.

This is a win win for Biden. He can campaign on cancelling student loans to get votes with no court case until after the election. Assuming he's re-elected, if he loses in court, so what? He got the votes from people supporting it. If he wins in court, yippee. He's set a precedent for future presidents and taxpayers get to foot the bill.

Here's what I know about Biden's student loan forgiveness program.
Like most government "free money" programs, there's a line buried deep in the bill that says you or I ain't getting a dime of it. But we get to pay for it.

The only way I would support this is if they reimburse my boys what they paid over the years in student loan debt. Thousands plus interest. And since I doubt the millions of responsible people who paid off their debt could ever be repaid, then nope, those owing money today need to pay it themselves. Not us.

Government takes over the student loan program.
Hands out tuition dollars like Halloween candy.
Schools charge top dollar tuition because the money is there.
Students run up large debts for useless degrees.
Government says:"Don't worry, we will fix it! Just vote for us!"

It's so silly to worry about Biden cancelling student debt. When he wipes it off the books it's just added to the national debt. From receivables to payables. Everyone knows we'll never pay off the national debt. It's just a cancer on the body of the U.S.A. that will grow and grow until it kills us. Not to worry.

Biden is just trying to buy votes. This does nothing to fix the problems in the student loan program or keep the crisis from continuing. Here a two things that could be down immediately to avoid further calls for cancellation. One, end the Parent Plus loans. These are high interest loans that parents take out to fund their kids' education. This just lets the colleges off the hook from giving grants to fill the gap between the exorbitant tuition and the amount the student can borrow. Two, make graduate school loans need based until age-25. Right now, both parents and schools are being let off the hook from contributing to graduate school costs. And a third, while I'm at it, charge simple interest. Compounding interest just compounds the problem!

These loans are not being "cancelled," "forgiven," or "erased." The debt is being offloaded on to the shoulders of every other American who did not borrow the money made available by this boondoggle. So the productive taxpayers and their children for decades and generations to come are being required to pay for the freeloaders. A pox on this president and all his supporters.

The cost of a college education is a huge obstacle for many young citizens. Do not make those who didn't go to college pay the bill for those who did.

If the colleges are so proud of the education they provide then they should make the loans.

I suggest that the Pubbies -and everyone who is financially responsible- should proclaim, long and loud that
IT IS NOT 'FORGIVING' STUDENT DEBT. IT IS TRANSFERRING THE DEBT TO EVERYONE ELSE!
Make everyone aware that it is going to cost THEM money for The Sniffer to buy these freeloader's votes!
