The House of Representatives voted in favor of a resolution calling on the presidents of Harvard and MIT to resign following last week's hearing on antisemitism. In a vote on Wednesday evening, representatives passed the resolution by a vote of 303-126. It required two-thirds to pass, or 290 votes. The bill was introduced by House Republican Conference Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla., Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., and Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J. "President Magill has resigned, and the other Presidents should follow suit," the resolution states.

What a mess. Back in the day, 1) these people would never have been installed as presidents of these schools. 2) if they WERE installed, they would have kept their mouths shut. But now that we’re here, I’m against government busybodies telling schools who they should/should not hire or fire. Moving into Gestapostan Land, IMO.

Pass a Wealth Tax on university endowments of over a Billion dollars. 10% per year, unless they gift that same amount as free tuition. For the children, you know.

Where's the resolution to cancel funding for these elite universities? The nerve of them thinking they're so high and mighty while taking hard earned money from taxpayers they think are their lessers.

You know, it's curious that during the past decade, when DEI, BLM, "anti-whiteness," and all the other kinds of invidious discrimination against normal white citizens--especially ones professing the Christian faith--took place, we heard not a peep about the situation prevailing in our colleges and universitites. But as soon as the ire of the "communities of color" and LGBTQ advocates was turned on Jews, everybody wants to get on board with the condemnations and boycotts. I agree that advocacy of ethnic slaughter should be condemned regardless of the ethnicities involved, but where have all the Jewish activists been in reaction to the slaughter of Christians throughout the moslem world? Where were they when white people got pushed to the back of the line simply because of the color of their skin? Not a peep. I guess it's good to have a lot of money to use as a cudgel to beat your opponenets with, and most Christians in the Thirld World have little more than their faith with which to defend themselves.

Complying will mean that Harvard/MIT agree with Republicans. They will walk the plank before they do that. This was the basic reason why the three 'Presidents' hemmed and hawed, evaded and obfuscated when a simple yes/no answer was called for.

Please help me understand how this falls under the constitutional role of the federal government. Of course, government wiggles their way in by taking wealth from the people and doling it back out with strings attached.

If these institutions receive any government money then the government does have leverage. The government does not have to make demands for removing university employees. Just pull all government funds including grants.

This is serious pressure and could affect that overly generous government endowment to these schools and also tax-exempt status since they have become activist organizations. Harvard should have fired Urkel based on her plagiarism as soon as it was discovered and not waited until their problem blew over. Now it never will.

The explosion of support for Hamas’s assault on human decency could well turn out to be the high-water mark of the progressive Left. The authoritarian multicultural ideology generated on campuses and transmitted dutifully by the established media has reached its apex and may now begin to descend. The signs are tentative but some are unmistakable. Corporate and university Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) departments are being slashed, and increasingly seen as both burdensome and discriminatory toward whites, Jews, and Asians. One-third of DEI professionals lost their jobs in 2022.

Jews across the globe knew that Hamas’s Oct. 7 terrorist attack was different. The scale and the planning it took. The medieval approach and butchery. The trauma inflicted. The sexual atrocities. But what we couldn’t have expected was how deeply the attack, and the ensuing fallout, would be felt here in America. It’s hard to think of any event — especially one that occurred several thousand miles away — that has caused more consideration of the facets of American society than 10/7 has. This terrorist attack has unsettled key orthodoxies that have guided us since as far back as the Constitution. It has rattled us to our core

Nihilism is the religion of the Left. Anarchy is now at the core of the new Democratic Party. If the Left wished radically to alter the demography of the U.S., it could have expanded legal immigration through legislation or the courts. Instead, it simply erased the border and dynamited federal immigration law. By fiat, nihilists ended the wall, and stopped detaining and deporting illegal aliens altogether. Or was it worse than that when candidate Joe Biden in September 2019 urged would-be illegal aliens to "surge" the border? As a result, through laxity and entitlement incentives, eight-million illegal entrants have swarmed the southern border under the Biden administration.

One of the words that’s become utterly void of meaning in the last few years because of its overuse and misuse is privilege. White privilege, male privilege, able-bodied privilege, gender privilege, heterosexual privilege, even hot privilege. In these contexts, privilege is a stain, an original sin meant to guilt the offending party into repentance. “Check your privilege” became a common refrain of the past decade. What all of this has done is confuse and undermine the idea of real privilege, which, of course, really exists in this country. The ultimate privilege in America is not being born white or straight or male. The ultimate privilege,

Hunter Biden showed he has his father’s chutzpah Wednesday when he blew off a congressional subpoena to hold a woe-is-me press conference on Capitol Hill. “I’m here. I’m ready,” he said, and then swept away in his motorcade without answering a single question. Like father, like son. Of course, there’s nothing bold or brave about inviting a contempt charge from Congress when you have Daddy’s pardon power in your back pocket. Hunter could have taken his entourage over to the House hearing room where Oversight Chairman James Comer was waiting for him to testify — and simply pleaded the Fifth, to avoid complicating his twin indictments on tax and gun charges. I have known people like Claudine Gay my entire life and they are the reason why I never checked the “black” box on college and employment applications. If I had, I would not be a free individual today. As a child, I was fascinated by the story of my paternal grandparents’ interracial marriage in 1944 in segregated Chicago. The 1967 interracial marriage of my black father to the daughter of Holocaust survivors in the same city wasn’t much easier; at the time, America burned with race riots. My grandparents and parents had every reason not to marry across the color line. But they chose love over their racial order.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan said Hunter Biden made a "huge change" by saying his father, President Biden, was "not financially involved" in his business dealings. Jordan's comments came shortly after Hunter Biden defied his subpoena by not appearing for a deposition before the House Oversight Committee, and instead, delivering a public statement defending himself and his family amid the House impeachment inquiry against his father. "My father was not financially involved in my business," Hunter Biden said Wednesday morning from Capitol Hill, adding the president was not involved in his dealings with Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings, or his Chinese investments and others in the U.S.

Political polarization in politics is a feature of our political system today, but it wasn’t always this way. Conservatives began to dominate the GOP in 1964, and in 1968 the historic Democratic establishment began to be discredited and undermined. These gradual forces came to a head in 1972. The culminating clash has been the source of a half-century of competition and conflict. Before 1964, there was a broad centrism with liberal and conservative wings. Moderate Republicans and conservative Democrats could find a lot of common ground. Liberal Republicanism was gradually weakening, and the conservative Democrats of the South were steadily losing ground and legitimacy.

The structures that bind the nations of the world together are breaking down before our eyes. Two savage wars are raging in volatile regions, either of which might at any moment blow up to involve additional belligerents and the potential use of nuclear weapons. The UN, established to prevent such disasters, has become a plaything of dictators: Iran, one of the bloodiest regimes on earth and a proud sponsor of terrorism, has just assumed the chair of the UN’s Human Rights Council. China has greatly accelerated production of nuclear warheads — and the Chinese media has begun to issue threats about “war on a global scale.”

Bidenomics is failing America, infecting the land with a persistent and intensifying cynicism, despite attempts by the White House and a partisan press to impose misleading narratives on the electorate. For example, the media rushed to heap praise upon last week’s modestly constructive jobs report. The actual numbers reveal a mixed bag – not a terrible report, but certainly not a parade-worthy one, either. The 199,000 jobs added in November sits below the average for the year 2023, and far off the prior levels of 2021 and 2022. Regarding jobs added since Biden took office, the easy part is over, meaning the task of regaining the lost jobs resulting from the COVID

Ron DeSantis is running as the true-blue conservative in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. And he's learning the hard way that Republicans don't nominate true-blue conservatives. As Donald Trump leads every poll by double-digits, the Florida governor who seemed such a promising prospect just a year ago is now at risk of falling to third place. If Nikki Haley bests DeSantis in Iowa, his 2024 campaign won't be the only casualty; his hopes of ever becoming president will dim, and rivals won't fear him as they look to '28 or '32. How did DeSantis go from a 19-point reelection only a year ago to a fight for his political life today?

Hunter Biden has told friends that he might have to flee the country if Donald Trump is reelected, after already enduring months of deeply personal political attacks and mounting legal woes. Republicans have put him front and center of their efforts to say his father acted corruptly when he was vice president. And he could face almost 20 years in prison if convicted of three felony and six misdemeanor charges brought last week. The result is an 81-year-old father desperately worried about the welfare of a son who has battled drink and drugs, and a son who fears more attacks if Trump wins in 2024.

In a tentative vote reportedly planned for next week, the California State Water Resources Control Board may vote on a measure that would allow sewage water to be converted into purportedly safe drinking water. Under the proposed plan, wastewater that is currently treated and released into oceans and rivers, and used for field irrigation, may be “treated at a higher level” and then sent “back into the main water supply over the course of hours to days,” the Washington Examiner reported.

Well, there it is! I knew it was coming! Are you serious about stopping global warming? Well, then, just stop breathing! What a boon to depopulationists!
