Downstate judge strikes down Illinois
ban on high-powered guns

Original Article

A downstate judge on Friday struck down the ban on high-power firearms and high-capacity ammunition magazines that Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed into law earlier this year, a ruling the Illinois attorney general’s office immediately appealed to the state Supreme Court. The scope of the ruling was a subject of dispute, with the attorney for the state lawmaker who was the lead plaintiff in the lawsuit arguing that it applies statewide and Pritzker’s office contending it does not. “We expected political grandstanding from those more beholden to the gun lobby than to the safety of their constituents and today’s ruling comes as no surprise,”

Since their previous bans and laws worked so well, it just goes to show that the state government is still stuck on stupid...

Once again, the politicians desire to take firearms away from white people who are legally and Constitutionally permitted to possess them and have never used them to harm anyone in order to prevent shootings by blacks and hispanics who possess firearms illegally and use them to kill and maim other people. Next step is to take cars away from people who have never had an accident to prevent drunks from driving. When these politicians are allowed to exceed their Constitutional authority by judges who legislate from the bench, it is always innocent, law-abiding people who are punished.

What is a low-powered gun? Is there any such thing? Isn't every gun high-powered? Illinois is still ruled by ignorant hoplophobes. When the Democrats eventually turn over American sovereignty to supra-national organizations like the UN, the "world" will come for American citizens' firearms. And "the world" will get their bottoms blown off.

Pritzker is quite the moron. Dare him to expose his bare chest to a "small" caliber .380 or .22 and see if he isn't just as dead as when a .44 magnum hits him. Daily shootings in Chicago are not a gun problem they are a mental deficiency problem on the part of both the leadership and the criminals.

When I was a boy, in a downstate Illinois town, I’d sometimes come home after school and stick a few .410 shells in one pocket and a handful of .22LR in another. Then I’d walk down to the canal or the river, right past the city hall/police station, with my Savage boy’s gun. No one would say a word—unless I didn’t have the action broken open in town. Today, I’d get shot, I’m sure. I miss that gun. (I traded it and $100 for a rusty ‘65 Ford Fairlane with three on the tree.)

The article is behind a paywall. No matter. Macon County, except for the city of Decatur, is very rural - small towns and a lot of farmland. It’s not surprising that one of their judges spiked this stupid law. One of my cousins grew up in Macon County. During pheasant season, he and his buddies took their shotguns to high school with them. They hunted pheasant over the lunch hour - with their English teacher, who was also the baseball coach.

Not legal under the guidance given by the SCOTUS with their Bruen ruling. This judge is correct, the law is unconstitutional.

In case you have not noticed, something perverse and bizarre is happening in the United States of America right now. Last week's hearing and exchange between Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Attorney General Merrick Garland was telling. The progressive socialist left, as embodied in the Biden administration, and across the country, is purposefully and intentionally targeting those who profess, believe, and advocate on issues based upon their Judeo-Christian faith. In the exchange between Sen. Hawley and Garland was the recent revelation of the FBI's targeting and proposed designation of Catholics as “domestic terrorists.”

As Americans' awareness of threats from China increases — thanks to a spy balloon in our skies and a growing understanding of TikTok's influence — the U.S. officials are ringing the alarm about another potential avenue for malign interference in the United States from Beijing: cranes. (Snip) Some of these cranes are innocuous, but an estimated 80 percent of ship-to-shore cranes operating at U.S. ports are made by ZPMC, a China-based manufacturer, leading to rising concern among American defense and national security personnel that have compared the cranes to a "Trojan horse," according to an exclusive report in The Wall Street Journal.

Former CNN President Jeff Zucker ordered employees during then-President Donald J. Trump’s administration not to investigate the theory that the coronavirus pandemic was sparked by a lab leak in China, calling it a “Trump talking point,” according to a report. A “well-placed CNN Insider” told Fox News Digital that Zucker issued the directive in the early stages of the pandemic. On March 13, 2020, Harmeet Kauer, a “culture writer” for CNN, called the notion that the virus may have started in a laboratory a “fringe theory.” Her colleague, Scottie Andrew, on April 13, 2020, wrote an article entitled “Nearly 30% in the US believe a coronavirus theory that’s almost certainly not true”

Democrats have been running around like decapitated chickens ever since news broke that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has given Tucker Carlson unfettered access to surveillance footage from inside the Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot by supporters of President Donald Trump. The Fox News host will air five stories culled from the footage Monday and Tuesday nights, countering the overblown “insurrection” narrative the Democrats and their media toadies have been pushing since Day One. The characterization of conservative Republicans as an “ultra-MAGA semi-fascist” menace to democracy was pushed by the partisan J6 committee and was the Democrats’ main sales pitch at the midterms last year.

Walmart has announced it is permanently closing all of its locations in Portland months after its CEO warned of a historic rise in theft at its stores. The locations, located at the Delta Park and Eastport Plaza shopping centers in North and Southeast Portland, will shutter Friday, March 24, the retail colossus revealed in a statement this week. Walmart says they are closing the stores - which serve as a haven for low-income shoppers across the city - because they were not meeting financial expectations. That said, the closures serve as the latest instance of businesses relocating or closing shop altogether amid a pronounced rise in crime and homelessness.

"A sad soul can kill you quicker, far quicker, than a germ," John Steinbeck tenderly wrote. To look around America today is to see the painful proof of this truth. COVID and other pathogens have nothing on the deleterious effects of hopelessness and despair. When people give up on themselves, their towns, and their futures, they look as if they're treading water against the current, seeking any reason just to stop kicking and sink. I don't know if there's a politician in Washington who actually knows what ails America. If there are any, I'm not sure they even care.

WASHINGTON — Over the past 11 months, someone created thousands of fake, automated Twitter accounts—perhaps hundreds of thousands of them--to offer a stream of praise for Donald Trump. When it came to Ron DeSantis, the bots aggressively suggested that the Florida governor couldn’t beat Trump, but would be a great running mate.
