The San Francisco Board of Supervisors could soon repeal all or parts of a law that prohibited city-funded travel and contracting with 30 conservative states that passed laws to restrict LGBTQ rights, abortion access and voting rights. The 2016 ordinance, Chapter 12X, was initially passed in the wake of the Obergefell v. Hodges decision to include states that passed anti-LGBTQ legislation, but was amended twice in 2019 and 2021 to add additional states who passed restrictive abortion and voting rights legislation. The move was largely seen as a boycott to pressure other states and prevent the city from engaging in business with those whose values

Project Veritas board members are accusing the conservative watchdog’s founder, James O’Keefe, of engaging in “financial malfeasance” by spending an excessive amount of donor money on “personal luxuries,” including booking a $14,000 flight to meet someone to fix his boat, according to a prepared statement.
The statement by the nonprofit’s board of directors was released Monday after O’Keefe recorded a video from his Project Veritas office announcing that he had been indefinitely suspended from his role as CEO and removed from the board. O’Keefe, a guerilla filmmaker, launched Project Veritas over a decade ago and used under cover reporters and hidden cameras to expose left-wing politicians and institutions.

In a 45-minute video, which appears to have been filmed Monday at Project Veritas’s office, O’Keefe announced that he was “packing up my personal belongings” after he had been indefinitely suspended from his role as CEO and removed from the group’s board of directors.
O’Keefe, who appeared to be talking to gathered Project Veritas staffers, said the video, which was published anonymously on the streaming platform Vimeo, was “just for us,”

“Project Veritas” founder and CEO James O’Keefe has left the company he founded after a group of his staff reportedly tried to oust him.
O’Keefe was put on paid leave as the organization’s board considered whether they would oust him. Employees had been dissatisfied by O’Keefe’s management and alleged he wasted money and was “outright cruel” to his staff, according to the The Daily Beast.
O’Keefe announced to his staff Monday that he was ousted as CEO and from the board in an emotional 15-minute video.
