GLENDALE, Ariz. — Patrick Mahomes took another step toward immortality on Sunday night, this one with a limp.
Mahomes overcame aggravating his sprained right ankle in the first half to lead a second-half comeback for the Chiefs in a 38-35 victory over the Eagles in Super Bowl 57. The Chiefs trailed by 10 points at halftime but Mahomes threw two touchdown passes in the second half and led Kansas City to a game-winning field goal drive in the final minutes.
Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker made a 27-yard field goal with eight seconds remaining in the game to give the Chiefs their third Lombardi Trophy and second in four years.

Two major fumbles. The Eagles gave it away. I wasn’t really rooting for either team but the Chiefs outplayed them.

Holding was allowed the entire game until the last two + minutes. Another ticky tack call by the NFL Officiating crew at the crucial point in the game. Shame on the NFL. Shame. Shame. Shame.

First time I've seen this sliding thing. I used to watch football with my dad on Sundays. I loved it. Then around 15 or 16, I stopped. Now occasionally I watch with my son. The game has changed a lot. I did catch the end - a win by a field goal. Great ending.

Good game. Eagles focused on Hurts. Unfortunately not every Eagle could hold on to ball. Mahomes, hurt again, carried on for the win.

Andy Reid is known for his imaginative trick plays, maybe the ultimate was pulled tonight.
At the end of the first half Mahomes limped off the field, seemingly with an aggravated ankle injury.
I'll suggest it may have been faked. The Eagles expected a diminished Mahomes, made the wrong adjustments at halftime and got their butts comprehensively kicked the second half.
As for THAT call at the end, maybe the holding was marginal but the defender used his body to impede the receiver, much more obvious if you look at the whole play.
Congratulations KC Chiefs.

A great gamed ruined by a tricky-tack holding call with less than 2 minutes left. The NFL has a serious officiating problem. That would have been a bad call in quarter 1 of the first game of the season let alone with less than 2 minutes left in the Super Bowl.
Half time gave me a headache it was so bad.

I read there were 40 Federal agencies providing security for the NFL. The NFL is a very rich organization, so why can't they provide their own security? Why are taxpayers foisted with the bill for billionaires and millionaires?

Cue the major push now for the Chiefs to self emasculate and retire that racist, imperialistic, colonial oppression moniker...Maybe Kansas City Two Spirits?
Missouri Mules?

RE the halftime show:
That's what the mute button is for. I hit it as soon as the lights went down. I saw Rihanna go up and down repeatedly but I didn't hear a thing. She was lip-synching anyway, so I could have played her YouTube video and heard the same thing.
The second half of the game was better than the first.

I’ve been a Chiefs fan since day one. Needless to say, I am thrilled that they won. I’m also thrilled that Dr. Jill was at he game cheering for Philadelphia and saw them lose. My TV was muted and I left the room during the halftime show. I wasn’t about to put up with that torture. Heal quickly Patrick Mahomes. We need you back again next year.

Since nobody watches the NFL anymore, perhaps we should restrain from posting about it. And wasn’t it great to see female pilots streaking across the sky. Next year maybe gay pilots, or trannies…one can say then they witnessed more history!

I was rooting for the Chiefs too, but I also suspect Mahomes' "high ankle sprain" may have been exaggerated -- especially after his 26-yard run in the fourth quarter. Anyway, glad they beat the Eagles.

It was a Great Game! I hated the Half Time Mess, so we muted the TV and read the Paper! Also, To me, if Holding is supposed to be called, WHY was the Guy, calling the Game, so upset. Either it allowed, or it is not! Even the guy who did the Holding has admitted he was Holding. So for those who think KS won because of a "bad call", I say they won that game Fair and Square! If you want Holding allowed, write the NFL and tell them to quit calling it. Can't have it both ways!!

I don't follow football and didn't really care which team won. But I thought it was a great game! I wasn't bothered by the call at the end. It isn't an answer to me to say that the same violation was ignored earlier (assuming it was). If it was a violation, it should have been called.

Posting this article let me see who won the game, since the TV never came on Sunday. Surprisingly, or not, I still don't care.

I like the old saw that "nobody watches the NFL anymore." Saw an interesting stat yesterday.
Of the 100 most watched programs of 2022, 85 of them were NFL games.
It's like the old Yogi Berra saying, "that place is so crowded, nobody goes there anymore."

That field was unusually slippery. Apparently the paint was making it even more slippery, but all of it seemed to have worse traction than is normal.
It is "natural grass" but now days, that has little to do with "nature" and is pretty much hydroponics with funky hybrid grasses. I wonder if the soil was a bit too wet which would let the turf rip out easily under shearing stress.
Whatever it was players on both teams were slipping and sliding and falling all evening.
