Democrats Whistle Past the Graveyard

November is almost upon us, and the consensus among credible election analysts is that any momentum the Democrats enjoyed this summer has evaporated. Despite implausible claims about the ephemeral “Dobbs effect,” the election was always destined to be about inflation, crime, immigration, and President Joe Biden’s job performance — all issues that favor Republicans. Yet the Democrats and the corporate media continue to engage in magical thinking about the midterms.

In Ohio, I'd be tempted to vote for Vance and not the gang of eight traitor DeWine ... but I won't vote for a Democrat. He's partially responsible for the immigration crisis!

I'm actually a rare split ticket voter NO democrats on any DC related position or Texas state related. In county MAYBE. Both parties are capable of nominating idiots. And only for important positions. Stay completely away from family fights. School board and such where only your family comes out to vote.

A new undercover video from Project Veritas featuring Becky Hobbs, the twin sister of Arizona gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs, has revealed that the Democrat party gave money to what they classified as "extreme" Republican campaigns in an effort to win the vote. "So, all across the country Democrat candidates, not candidates themselves, but the party, was putting money in primaries, into the races of extreme Trump-endorsed candidates, as opposed to the moderate Republicans that were running, because they wanted those extremists to win because they knew that the Dems had a better chance of winning their races against the extremist candidates than they did against the moderate Republicans,"   CORRECTION*

The first and only debate between John Fetterman and Mehmet Oz is happening Tuesday. Fetterman, a Democrat and the current Pennsylvania Lt. Governor, and Dr. Oz, his Republican challenger, will face off without a live audience. In an unusual twist, the Fetterman campaign is lowering expectations before the debates happens.Fetterman, once expected to trounce Oz in the race to be Pennsylvania’s next senator, now runs as though he is the underdog. Since he suffered a serious stroke, his ability to serve in the Senate has been called into question. All polls still show Fetterman ahead of Oz, though only just barely.

Few corporate landlords sought to evict more residents in 2021 than the company Sen. Raphael Warnock’s (D., Ga.) church partnered with to manage its low-income apartment building. Columbia Residential manages 49 apartments in the Atlanta area, including Columbia Tower at MLK Village, a low-income apartment building owned by Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Warnock serves as senior pastor. Out of 1,587 corporate landlords across the country, only 30 filed more eviction lawsuits in 2021 than Columbia Residential, records show. The property management company filed 605 eviction actions against its residents in 2021, according to a dataset cited by House Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis chairman Rep. James Clyburn (D., Ga.).

A flood of negative advertising against both candidates in Georgia appears to be hurting Sen. Raphael Warnock's (D.) image more than Republican challenger Herschel Walker's in the final weeks of the election, according to an internal Walker campaign poll obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. While the internal polling shows a tight race, consistent with independent surveys showing the race within the margin of error, Walker's pollster says the surveys show that criticism of Warnock is starting to take a toll on his favorability rating in the run-up to Election Day.Warnock's favorability rating has dipped to 40 percent, a 5-point decrease since the campaign's previous poll

Republican candidate Herschel Walker is making the most of a criticism from his opponent, Democrat incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock. Warnock made the mistake of mocking Walker for being in possession of what he called “fake” police badges during a debate. Walker quickly whipped one out and proudly held it up to the audience. As it turns out, the so-called fake badges are honorary badges presented to Walker by sheriffs throughout the state. In response to the political attack from Warnock, the Walker campaign ordered 1,000 imitation plastic law enforcement badges that say “I’m with Herschel”. The campaign has turned the badges into a fundraising tool.

Humans are not very good fortune tellers, not even when there’s lots of data on which to make educated guesses. That’s certainly been true of recent political polling in 2016 and 2020 and to a lesser degree in 2018. Nevertheless, the pressure to make predictions is strong. So today, Matt Yglesias has put forward his best guess as to what will happen nationally next month. His conclusion is that polls are once again underestimating GOP strength in various races and that, partly because of that bad data, Democrats are going to underperform even current (low) expectations.According to 538, Republicans have a 72 percent chance of taking the House,

Stacey Abrams demonstrates here in an exchange with Mike Barnicle this morning on Morning Joe. Barnicle points out that Democrats’ attempts to use abortion to distract from the issues that matter most to voters in the cycle have flopped.Abrams responds by claiming that abortion is a solution to inflation. Ever since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June, it seemed possible that Democrats could avoid a midterm disaster. But if the post-Roe summer belonged to Democrats, by mid-October, even they can see the momentum they had is fading. A recent CBS News/YouGov survey has Democrats running 2 percentage points behind Republicans in the generic congressional ballot — a measure closely tied to a party’s performance in the midterms. A New York Times/Siena College poll released on Monday showed likely voters inclined to vote Republican by a 49 percent to 45 percent margin. One of the oddest orthodoxies of modern “anti-racist” doctrine is that only white people can be racist. (Or, as a Vice writer declared in October 2016, “It’s literally impossible to be racist to a white person.”) When the journalist Sarah Jeong was engulfed in a controversy over a series of old tweets lambasting white people — “Oh man it’s kind of sick how much joy I get out of being cruel to old white men” — her defenders on the left “were quick to say that the statements Jeong made could be skewed as racist only if the culture, history and current sociopolitical context of the United States were ignored,

Today, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis picked Joe O’Dea as his only 2022 endorsed senate candidate, recording a robocall for O’Dea that says, “Hello this is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. House Republicans have for months threatened to impeach Joe Biden and equally disastrous members of his administration for their intentional attempts to destroy America if — which is now pretty much when — the GOP retakes control of the House in the midterms, now just two weeks away. Apparently, those threats weren’t serious. At least not in Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s case. McCarthy last Wednesday downplayed talk of impeaching Biden or officials of the disastrous administration if the GOP regains control. Just one problem. Republican lawmakers have introduced more than a dozen impeachment resolutions targeting Biden, Kamala Harris, and controversial Cabinet members, including Attorney General Merrick Garland, Secretary of State Antony Blinken,

Former President Donald Trump fired off a foreboding Truth on Sunday night, reacting to a Washington Examiner exclusive that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is recording a robocall for a Republican candidate whom Trump has rejected. That candidate is Joe O’Dea, the underdog Senate contender in Colorado who is trailing Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) in public opinion polls and last week made waves when he vowed to "actively campaign against" Trump and spoke favorably of other party heavyweights, including DeSantis. Sharing the article written by Washington Examiner senior political correspondent David Drucker on his Truth Social platform, Trump added a brief message. "A BIG MISTAKE!" Trump said in all capital letters.

Washington — Plastic recycling rates are declining even as production shoots up, according to a Greenpeace USA report out Monday that blasted industry claims of creating an efficient, circular economy as "fiction." Titled "Circular Claims Fall Flat Again," the study found that of 51 million tons of plastic waste generated by U.S. households in 2021, only 2.4 million tons were recycled, or around five percent. After peaking in 2014 at 10 percent, the trend has been decreasing, especially since China stopped accepting the West's plastic waste in 2018. Virgin production — of non-recycled plastic, that is — meanwhile is rapidly rising as the

"Elon Musk’s plan to lay off 75% of Twitter workers will hurt Twitter’s ability to serve the public conversation," reads a draft of the letter, which has not yet been published. "A threat of this magnitude is reckless, undermines our users’ and customers’ trust in our platform, and is a transparent act of worker intimidation."

Griner can still appeal to a higher court, but her lawyers have yet to confirm whether they will take the case further. The decision clears the way for the WNBA star to serve nine years in a penal colony, unless the U.S. government negotiates a deal. President Biden attacked Republicans in a speech to the Democratic National Committee headquarters on Monday, stoking claims that Republicans would "crash the economy" in an attempt to force him to gut Medicare. Biden also used the opportunity to coin the term "Mega-MAGA trickle down," which is how he has chosen to refer to Republican economic policies. The president went on to name House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, arguing that he and his fellow Republicans would grow the deficit by $3 trillion if their priorities were to pass. He also argued the party plans to use the deficit as a bludgeon against him.
