Some Washington DC families are going to be receiving a $1,000 dollar stimulus check, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has announced.
The money will be drawn from the Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund that was created under Biden’s American Rescue Plan.
The Epoch Times reported:
Some low-income families in Washington, D.C., are set to receive a payment of $1,000 as they prepare to return to school, according to Mayor Muriel Bowser on Thursday.

If this isn't Tax Free (and what is), DC is just giving itself a bonus...

$1,000 x 15,000 = $15 million slush fund. Follow the money. Not all of the cash will be routed to the “needy.” And how many illegals are going to get their fair share?

After her whining about these imported border jumpers arriving from Texas, the least Bowser could do with all this COVIDS dough is buy each a Metro ticket to Takoma Park, Potomac, Alexandria or Manassas. Especially those with COVIDS.

I was able to sell some land and two buildings to a government in an eastern state that they had been wanting to purchase for some years. Suddenly they had money and their desired purchase was carried out. I later found that the source of the funding was "COVID money", and didn't look into it beyond that.
"COVID money" was spent on EVERYTHING except taking care of people. You can be certain of that.

It's way too early for election bribes. The plebes won't remember when Election Day comes. Make the payments closer to November.

It would be REAL interesting to know just how much "Covid Money" is till floating around out there unspent, my guess is they are saving it to spend just before the midterms..."Investment" in incumbents.
When Repubs take back the house part of the "Platform" should be a REAL budget(the last one was 2007), separate appropriations, with a zero sum basis as it's foundation rubric, and a claw back of all unused funds.

Re #11, I have read that some organizations still have not spent even half of their "COVID money", just using it as a giant slush fund.

Poster, 7, no strings attached when federal money flows to democrat donors and to vote buying. But if a red state balks at a regulation, federal funds are threatened.

Texas has a $27B surplus. The GOP wants to return it to taxpayers but the dims want to spend on "education" which means the teacher's union. The dims have never seen a taxpayer $ they couldn't spend
I recall well. I was 10 years old watching the 1960 dim convention and I asked my dad "what is a democrat"
He replied - "someone who wants to do everything for everyone, using somebody else's money"

I wonder how long it would take to make a list of every entitlement/give away program at the city, state, and federal levels? My guess, months, if not years.
