House Speaker Nancy Pelosi does not have any apparent plans to visit the island democracy of Taiwan after Chinese diplomats threatened 'unbearable consequences' if she visited the self-ruled island under Chinese occupation.
In a press release on Sunday, her office said she would visit four Asian countries — but Taiwan was not on the list.
'Speaker Nancy Pelosi is leading a Congressional delegation to the Indo-Pacific region, including visits to Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan,' the press release read.

Americans forget that the United States has since 1979 recognized Taiwan as a part of China, and that's not a new policy. Officially, the US recognizes the PRC as the sole legal government of China, acknowledging the Chinese position that Taiwan is part of China.

Maybe if Biden had not told his Chinese masters about Pelosi's planned trip all this could have been avoided. Just add it to Biden's long list of impeachable actions.

If the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America cannot visit an ally country without another nation's permission, then the days of the United States being the world's superpower are over.
China is now in charge.

On the issue of Taiwan’s relationship to China:
In early November, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo caused quite an uproar, when, in an interview with the Hugh Hewitt Show, he stated that “Taiwan has not been a part of China, and that was recognized with the work that the Reagan administration did to lay out the policies that the United States has adhered to now for three and a half decades, and done so under both administrations.”
From the context of the remarks it is clear that Pompeo refers to the fact that since its founding in 1949, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) government in Beijing has never had any sovereignty over Taiwan. It has always been ruled independently: first, of course, by the regime of Chiang Kai-shek, who wanted to “recover the mainland.” But since the early 1990s Taiwan has been a vibrant democracy that wants to be accepted as a full and equal member in the international family of nations.
With his mention of “the work of the Reagan administration,” Pompeo refers specifically to one clause in the Six Assurances, promulgated by President Ronald Reagan in July 1982, in which he stated that the United States “has not altered its position regarding sovereignty over Taiwan.”
That referred specifically to the U.S. position that it considered Taiwan’s international status “undetermined,” in accordance with the outcome of the 1951-52 San Francisco Peace Treaty. In that treaty, Japan had formally ceded sovereignty over the island, but it was not decided to whom. Most countries at the 1951 Peace Conference argued that Taiwan’s status needed to be determined in due time, in accordance with the principle of self-determination enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.

As I posted in the previous thread - - President Reagan and President Trump have been the only ones smart enough - - and tough enough - - to fight back against the evil commies.
All other American pols have been linguini-spined jellyfish - - caving time and time again - - to the most evil forces on Earth.

In the USA, Nancy Pelosi, the lying Democrats, and their media propagandists can tell the country that Nancy was in Taiwan when in actuality she was never there, resulting in half of the USA population, that is mostly made up of low information people these days who don’t know their asses from their elbows, would believe it!

THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HAS NO PLACE FOREIGN POLICY.
The executive branch runs foreign relations, the diplomat corps and the military. The Senate ratifies treaties to make them binding (even if the treaties are called "deals") . The House stays home. La Pelosi has put the country at risk of war entirely for her own personal ego frottage. World War III? Better than Nancee being told by the Prez to go sit in her Chair until she gets the House to make a budget. Can't have that blow to her political prestige.
And don't tell me Newt Gingrich went in his day - he had no business doing it either.

The PRC, aka, the Communist party, is like Communist parties everywhere. They are just a small collection of thugs pulling strings to gain or maintain power. They have no legitimate claim to represent the Chinese people.

Re #22, with all respect, the Speaker of the House is #2 in the line of succession to the U. S. Presidency, after the Vice President. It is not inappropriate for them to visit another country but it is quite different from a House or Senate member junket. They are somewhzt more than just a member of the House. Because of that, their visits must be planned and handled carefully. This trip was not.
Our demented president and his midget State Department flunkies do not know what they are doing.
