Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed an executive order Thursday allowing the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas National Guard to arrest and return illegal migrants to the border.
“While President Biden refuses to do his job and enforce the immigration laws enacted by Congress, the State of Texas is once again stepping up and taking unprecedented action to protect Americans and secure our southern border. The cartels have become emboldened and enriched by President Biden’s open border policies, smuggling in record numbers of people, weapons, and deadly drugs like fentanyl,” Abbott said in a statement.

It's about time. Read in another article that his poll numbers were tanking. He should have done this months ago.

Now that Hundreds of Thousands of Illegals have walked right into our country, NOW Gov. Abbot is going to do something? I would say it's a bit late! Granted, it's not HIS fault that this happened. We know right where to place the blame for that, but Biden and his Administration have an Agenda and that means they will allow this to continue until SOMEONE stops it! Hopefully what Abbot is doing will make a difference. One can only hope!

This is not a start. This is a publicity stunt. They are not sent back to Mexico. They are turned over to U.S. Border Patrol, who releases them.

Somehow I get the feeling the people of Texas don't trust Abbott to control the border.

Return them back to Mexico in a C130, out the back door at 10,000 feet.

Funny the WH LIEING secretary, oops I mean BRIEFING secretary, says that Abbott cannot do that because immigration is a Federal thing. I guess kind of like ABORTION is like a STATE thing according to the equal branch of government called THE SUPREME COURT.

Words matter. …Ship illegals back to the border. Or, ship illegals back across the border.
I am certainly no expert on Texas politics but is this just another stunt? If not, then why wasn’t this done long ago? The American people are sick and tired of being played by politicians who feel no urgency to combat the complete lawlessness of this administration. Putting a Band-Aid on a gaping wound is about as effective as political grandstanding. Please, can Republicans get serious about what is happening in this country. We are in the midst of an unprecedented lawless administration that does whatever it wants damn the Constitution or rule of law. Had these Republicans fought the Revolutionary War, we would be speaking with a British accent and bowing and scraping to royalty. Show some courage! Get serious about what is happening to the country.

Meanwhile other states are allowing plane loads of them to land in the middle of the night and are preparing housing and monthly stimulus checks for them. You are correct, #8, every mention of this Abbott policy avoids the fact that they are NOT returned to the Mexican side.

God help us, because we know weak, wimp wristed governors like Abbott aren't. Question is, will we have a Country before this fraud of a stolen government is gone?

Another stunt, good enough to keep him in office. He promised similar hard action over a year ago and the border has never been more open.

To the border, but not back across it. Because, of course, that would be the Feds purview, and they won't have it.

It’s surprising to see so many suddenly blaming the Governor of Texas for the border mess. Compliance with Federal law does indeed belong to the Feds. This strategy will be blocked by the Courts within days.

Don't kid yourselves... Governor Abbott's poll number against Beavis O'Dork are NOT tanking. In a head-to-head November election, NOBODY in their right mind will be voting Beato-- only the wacko activists and members of far-left coalitions that make up the demonrat socialist marxists.
There are those in the Texas GOP who would have him act as a dictator and incite unrest within the party, namely followers of his primary opponents West and Huffines who have made inroads into the leadership of the party, but are far off base from the true GRASS ROOTS voters who gave Abbott tremendous support in the Primary.
O'Dork's attempt to make political points at the time of the Uvalde shooting and making a tantrum over the Dobbs decision from the SCOTUS tells you how low they will go.
JoeBamaBiteMe the Vegetable is an albatross in his attempt to ruin the economy of everyone with higher gas prices and Bidenflation-- all except the very wealthy feel it....

This is really no different than the current "policy" whereby those caught are turned over to the Federals...who do you think mans the border crossings where these frolicking border jumpers will be dropped? All-Hat Abbott is a "great governor" in the line of Dubya and Rick Perry. Charles Durning played the part perfectly! Abbott thanks the Almighty nightly for Beto in November.
"Fellow Texans, I am proudly standing here to humbly see.
I assure you, and I mean it- Now, who says I don't speak out as plain as day?
Now my good friends, it behooves me to be solemn and declare,
I'm for goodness and for profit and for living clean and saying daily prayer.
And now, my good friends, you can sleep nights, I'll continue to stand tall.
You can trust me, for I promise, I shall keep a watchful eye upon ya'll..."

Abbott seems to be mostly talk, very little action. Seems really unwilling to do much but wants to be THOUGHT to be doing something good.....even if it is just a tiny dab here or there.

I read this morning that Bidet's Department of Injustice is already investigating Abbott for violating the invaders' civil rights.
I think it is pretty amazing that so many people on here comment so aggressively against Abbott for not doing things the TX constitution doesn't allow the governor to do for a reason. The TX constitution calls for a weak governor so we don't get a governor Newsome. (I am not saying I don't wish he would do more.)
I guess we could show our anger at Abbott and stay home in November. You know Beto has all the answers.

Not good enough. Shipping them back to the border just starts the process all over again. Abbott is useless. Still playing politics and treating voters like they're stupid. He needs a recall.

U.S. public law written around one hundred years ago and codified in 6 US Code Section 211, established Customs and Border Protection as a federal agency and gave it the responsibility and authority to administer and enforce all immigration law, including the detection, interdiction, removal, and departure of persons who have unlawfully entered the U.S. Not even Donald Trump or Allen West, were either of them a border governor, has the authority to trump federal law. What is possible is that a Republican Congress can amend the U.S. Code by Passing legislation with enough votes to override a Biden veto, to allow for the activities that many think Abbott should attempt to do outside of public law. By now I would think it was common knowledge that any state’s National Guard units, deployed by a governor, can be federalized by the president, who is their Commander-in-Chief. Abbott may be a bit weak but he’s not stupid and he’s at least keeping the severity of the border problems front and center. It’s up to the people to change our laws either by voting or revolution. While some hint at the latter, there doesn’t appear a groundswell of support for changing the system by force of arms.

#22 - You need to read the Texas Constitution regarding the governor’s powers when faced with an invasion. Perhaps you haven’t heard that multiple Texas border counties have just declared all this border jumping an invasion. You may be further amazed.

Unfortunately after being turned over to federal immigration authorities at the Border, Biden and his crew will simply release them again into the USA. You have to be a moron not to figure out that the Biden and Democrat plan to flood the USA with poor and uneducated illegal aliens is aimed at permanently changing the racial and ethnic population of enough places in the USA to fit within the ethnic and racial categories of Democrat identity politics to where a huge coalition of minority peoples become the future majority population of the USA by simply instituting “open borders” and ignoring the US immigration laws.
The next step for the Democrats will be to legalize tens of millions of illegal aliens who are inside the USA after crossing the borderline unlawfully, or who remained in the USA longer than permitted after being admitted to the country with some sort of temporary visa or visa waiver, through a series of Democrat designed “path to citizenship” amnesties that will eventually permanently change US voter demographics to greatly favor the Democrats, resulting in that demographic shift overwhelming the “deplorable” Republican vote to keep the Democrats in permanent power, controlling the Congress and the White House. If you doubt that, ask yourself, would Biden and the Democrats allow “open borders” and allow the USA to be flooded with illegal aliens and then be pleased as punch to legalize tens of millions of those illegal aliens if they ever thought that more than a very small number of those “New Americans” would turn out in the future to support for and vote for the wimpy Republicans? That’s an easy one!
