Who doesn’t love it when the underdog wins?
And when that underdog is someone you’ve known and supported for years, through thick and thin, well, that’s the ultimate feel-good story.
We at The Jersey Journal happily add our congratulations and cheers today to the heap of hurrahs pouring in for the St. Peter’s University men’s basketball team, which stunned the sports world with its definitive NCAA win Thursday night over heavily favored University of Kentucky.

What OP said and they will soon discover the meaning of the Peter Principle (pun intended) when they meet up with the Tar Heels (pun also intended)

I usually root for the Big 10 team in this tournament but I also love a good "Cinderella story". So I was torn between the two last night until I saw the shirts the guys on St. Peter's bench were wearing. Not pleased at all that the activists won.

I wonder what the white guys on the team think about the BLM shirts. I hope the Tar Heels crush the ghetto boys in the next round.

Rename that team to the St. Peters Bracket Busters.
As for all the woke nonsense, I don't give a rat's rear end. It has solved nothing. Quite the opposite, it has made matters worse.

Mega dittoes, OP.
FYI: they’re a Jesuit school. I did not know that.
Go Tar Heels!

Defense, hustle, the extra pass, position, no stupid fouls, teamwork, and practice matter more during March Madness.

Why wearing those BLM looting and burning shirts? I'm sorry they won any games and hope they lose against UNC

I'm thrilled for the Peacocks' success. Their hustle on the court every minute of each game has earned my respect. Even Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley said last night that all four of the Peacocks' guards were better at point than any other point guards they've seen in this tournament.
If African American athletes choose to wear "Black Lives Matter" slogans, that's little matter to me. I don't expect young black athletes to be as aware and up-to-date as Lucianne posters are concerning the fraudulent motivations behind the founding of that corrupt group. I save my loathing for those who should know better, such as Mittens Romney who marched with BLM at the front of a protest parade shortly after the George Floyd fiasco. I also note that this article is outdated by two games/brackets, being seven days old. The Murray and Purdue games were as exciting as the Kentucky game. I'm likewise happy for their hundreds of fans assembled at St. Peter's, watching the game on television.

Not a game I ever cared about, and the kind of people who make up the teams today, make it even less interesting.

I, too, was disappointed when at the end o/f the game, the subs came out with their warm ups on, and the black lives matter was showing.
As for the game, they played well. Purdue had a seven foot four inch center, and St Peter doesn't even have a center - just some 6'7 and 6'8 forwards.
Every year, there is a Cinderella team in the tournament, and St Pete earned that title. Their twins from Mali are good players, and they seemed to be having fun. And there was great movement on offense, along with good ball handling.
Now if the NCAA could come up with guidance for the referees on fouls - games are beginning to look like rugby matches. Sooner or later, there will be a fatality on the court.

Can we just play sports and leave activism at home? It is just so tiresome. Walking billboards for whatever political message just dilutes the fun of the game. Let's just stop it. Please.

Until they had to rock the "Black Lives Matter" and "end Racism" shirts. I don't know what they are teaching at this school, but they should have left the activism out. I blame the coach. Sorry, boys, I love the Cinderella story, but much like my views of the NFL and the mess they got into, you have lost my support in the tourney.
