Boston abruptly lifts vaccine mandate

Original Article

Boston’s new mayor, Michelle Wu, took the city by surprise yesterday when she announced that Beantown’s requirement for proof of vaccination to enter most indoor businesses was being lifted “immediately.” This was particularly good news for bars and restaurants in the city which have struggled to enforce the mandate and seen their customer traffic (and profits) tanking over the course of the pandemic. The reason she gave was yet another “following the science” speech, noting that the city’s positivity, hospitalization, and ICU occupancy rates had all fallen below the previously defined limits.

In our county, it's still a bungled mess. Wally World sign says no mask if you're fully vaccinated (what is that?). Lowe's store says masks required. I had COVID so presumably have antibodies, and I go maskless. When I was in Lowes, it seemed most customers had them on.😵

Word must have come down from on high that mandates are a loser for the democrat party. And just like that the mandates were gone. The democrats just love their focus groups.

Not surprising, as the leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrats with the assistance of their liberal media propagandists will now start portraying themselves and their political agenda as actually being more conservative than the do-nothing wimpy Republicans, hoping that enough knucklehead potential voters will get them past the November election, even claiming that it was the wimpy Republicans who originated the defund the police movement.

Journalism today stinks! There’s no getting around it anymore. While there are exceptions, and long-form journalism is still worth reading, the news divisions today just stink. And I think my experience allows me to make that judgment. I’ve worn many hats in my life, including, during a couple of stretches, that of journalist. I have always been a consumer of news, and got into it officially through my college paper, where I was on the editorial board and wrote the occasional Op/Ed column. In the Fall of 1972, I caused a bit of a stir with an editorial column titled “Don Quixote vs. the Used Car Salesman.”

Bob Saget’s death in January was a very tragic thing, especially for someone who was still relatively young, was beloved by so many people, and who had contributed so much to the entertainment industry. But now, there are folks raising questions about the serious head trauma he suffered. His death was attributed to head trauma in an autopsy report released on Thursday, and it was assessed to be an accident, i.e. maybe he fell and then went to sleep, and then died. Now, the description of the head trauma is much more extensive than initially suggested, according to the NY Times.

Rep. Liz Cheney (RINO-WY) has tried to play the pure one — the one who is only siding with the Democrats because she was concerned about the Constitution, the one who wants to bring the Republicans back, and away from President Donald Trump. She stated outright the most important thing was to make sure he wasn’t able to run again. Now, that’s just so much nonsense. If you were siding with the Constitution, you would know to fight the Democrats at all costs because they are doing all they can to suborn the Constitution and move the country further left. But if that wasn’t already clear it was nonsense,

The COVID-19 Pandemic is now officially over. If you want to be specific, it has gone from ‘Pandemic’ to ‘Endemic’ but that’s not really a new thing when you think about it. The mainstream media would have you believe that COVID being in the ‘Endemic’ phase is a relatively new period. One that they’re not sure how to handle because, if they were to explain it to you, they fear they would lose control over the narrative. After all, endemic means ‘forever’. Sounds scary, but COVID has only been something to fear for those who allowed it to cause fear.

DC Comics, the publisher of comic book icons like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, has gone all-in on woke messaging, particularly where LGBT representation is concerned. Over the summer, they had a massive pride special comic that featured many LGBT characters and was intended to show a spotlight on how diverse its character offerings are. If you’ll recall, DC recently shifted things around and Clark Kent/Kal-El went off-world, leaving the mantle of Superman to his son. A little way into the series, it is revealed that the younger Kent is bisexual. DC Comics made a really big deal about this.

Earlier in the week, I reported that there was a “growing chorus of politicians and health experts” in Canada calling for an end to COVID mandates, after the protests by the Freedom Convoy. While we’ve been focused a lot on the occupation in Ottawa, they also had a blockade going on at the border in Alberta as well as protests in other areas. The RCMP apparently thought they could tow the truckers away, by calling up the local tow truck operations. But they got rejected big time, with the tow truck organization telling them they supported the peaceful protest. We previously reported on a similar effort in Ottawa which also failed.

The Freedom Convoy that made it across Canada from Vancouver to Ottawa is now occupying the streets in front of Parliament and is being supported by people in their efforts against vaccine mandates. They’re also blocking the border in Alberta where they took a vote to stay, in the face of a potential government threat to remove them. The protest even factored into a politician losing his job — unfortunately, not Justin Trudeau. As we reported, it seems to be having an effect, with more experts and officials in Canada now pushing for a return to normal and ‘live with the virus’ approach.
