CHAMPAIGN — On the heels of the experience of a Champaign resident who spoke about gun violence at Tuesday night's city council meeting, Mayor Deb Feinen addressed the issue in a written statement Wednesday. Feinen's statement in its entirety: "I believe that it is important to speak out regarding the Council meeting on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.

This is a follow-up story of one I posted yesterday. The Mayor of Champaign did well in her response to the outrageous treatment of two citizens by two Champaign City Council members.

Sad when the mayor has to remind the petty tyrants that citizens need a safe place. Talk about woke. The response is as insulting as the two council members. Instead, he should have stated that people need to start recalls or other actions while he does every He can do to insure the council act like adults and not schoolyard bullies. Kicking tail goes a lot further than creating safe zones

I don't think a recall of these city council members is possible. And if it were, I doubt very much that the people of their districts would vote to recall them. Perhaps the best thing to do is harp on their disrespect of ordinary citizens and see to it that they are not reelected. In this town, "kicking butt" doesn't work. The best way to handle it -- I've lived here for nearly 30 years -- is to be civil and in doing so highlight the rabid incivility of the two city council members in question. In some communities, loud and boisterous work. Here, not so much. On average, the citizens of the City of Champaign are center left, but not too far left. They get fed up with rudeness pretty quickly. Now . . . if you go to our sister city -- Urbana -- now that's a different story. Folks over there have "Geese Lives Matter" protests over the culling of too many Canada geese in a city park. Urbana is more granola than, well, Granola! LOL

The dehumanize Whitey mentality will continue apace, the mayor's posturing notwithstanding.

Day late dollar short. Nothing has changed till they learn how to vote properly.

CHAMPAIGN — Albert Morr and his wife, Claudia, disturbed by a recent shootout in their University Avenue neighborhood, went to Tuesday evening’s Champaign City Council meeting expecting sympathy and hoping for help. What they received instead — from council members Alicia Beck and Michael Foellmer — was a lecture on their moral failings and advice to keep their thoughts to themselves until they change

Four Senate Republicans failed to show up to vote on an amendment that would have defunded President Joe Biden’s remaining vaccine mandates, thus ensuring its failure. The Senate voted on Sen. Mike Lee’s (R-UT) amendment to the continuing resolution (CR), which would defund Biden’s remaining vaccine mandates. The measure failed 46-47, with Sens. Mitt Romney (R-UT), Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Richard Burr (R-NC) failing to show up, depriving Senate Republicans a potential majority to pass the amendment to the CR.

We brought you the story about the two people who had been run over by the Ottawa police on their horses. The police ran their horses into a crowd of protesters much faster than they should have, despite the protesters being peaceful. You can see them knock over a woman who was on what appeared to be a disability scooter, and a man in a brown coat with a knit hat, who was trying to shield her or push her out of the way of the horses. Both were knocked to the ground, as people yelled about them being trampled. There were later reports that the woman had died, but,

No, no, no, no, no. Dear God, no.Hillary Clinton is seriously mulling a run in 2024. There’s simply no other way to interpret her speech at Thursday’s New York State Democratic Party Convention.Like the Tracy Flick she is, Clinton could barely make it through name-checking Gov. Hochul before eagerly leapfrogging into national politics. Apologies to Tracy Flick. At least she knew how to win an election. Not enough that Hillary carpet-bagged her way into a New York State Senate seat, itself a pretext for her first failed presidential run.

A Las Vegas woman was sentenced to eight to 20 years in prison Friday in the death of a 74-year-old man she shoved out the door of a bus in 2019. Last month, Cadesha Bishop, 28, pleaded guilty to abuse of an older vulnerable person resulting in substantial bodily harm or death. She had originally been charged with murder, FOX 5 of Las Vegas reported. "I’m sorry for my behavior," Bishop told the judge Friday while complaining about her portrayal in the media. "I’m sorry for the way that I was portrayed in my lowest and weakest moment of my life," she said.

Joe Biden got lost and claimed he once was a lifeguard on Lake Oswego in New York. The problem is there is no such place. Biden’s just keeps making things up not realizing how demoralizing this is for his Administration and the country. During a speech yesterday, Joe Biden shared that he once worked as a lifeguard on Lake Oswego when talking about New York. The problem is there is no Lake Oswego in New York. There is a Lake Oswego in Oregon but there is no evidence Biden worked there. He’s probably never been there.

Vice President Kamala Harris publicly warned Vladimir Putin of the 'swift and severe' consequences he will face if Russia further invades Ukraine and branded him a 'lying propagandist' after a car bomb destroyed a pipeline forcing the evacuation of 700,000. In a speech early Saturday at the Munich Security Conference, Harris said the United States and its allies were prepared to impose significant and unprecedented economic costs on Russia if it further invades Ukraine, Reuters reported. 'Let me be clear, I can say with absolute certainty, if Russia further invades Ukraine, the United States together with our allies and partners will impose significant and unprecedented economic costs,'

So far, Justin Trudeau’s invocation of the Emergencies Act hasn’t yielded any overt scenes of state power; no clouds of tear gas or columns of troops being marched into the capital. But it’s very different story within the Canadian financial sector. One of the most far-reaching implications of the Emergencies Act is what it prescribes for the Canadian financial system. According to the government’s new Emergency Economic Measures Order, every single bank, credit union, investment broker and insurance provider in the country has been deputized to figure out if they have a blockader as a client, and to immediately freeze their accounts if so.

So Kamala Harris is going to the border. That would be the Ukrainian border, not the U.S. Southern border, to somehow resolve Ukraine's border crisis instead of ours. According to the New York Post: Vice President Kamala Harris set off Thursday on a peace mission to Europe as Russia appeared to accelerate preparations for an invasion of Ukraine — undeterred by her failure to resolve the ongoing US-Mexico border crisis as President Biden’s point person on illegal immigration. About two hours after Harris departed DC to attend the Munich Security Conference, Biden

We shouldn’t be surprised that Hillary Clinton would continue to double down in the face of a mushrooming scandal. This has always been her strategy in handling such situations, and heaven knows she’s had plenty of experience. Whitewater? Pfft! Nothing to see here. Travelgate? Just a vast right-wing conspiracy. Benghazi? What difference could it possibly make? Hillary has survived more scandals than perhaps any politician in history, so her current hubris might be somewhat expected. But the goings-on with the Durham Probe is different. Hillary’s current hot water isn’t like the other cauldrons she’s been in.
