Several years ago, during a high school class discussion on the cost of education versus training, my son brought up the fact that his brother was a Navy SEAL. He mentioned the cost to training him was about $1,000,000. One his classmates said: “You’re parents spent a million dollars on your brother?”. We didn’t, of course. The government paid for his training and, when he reenlisted overseas with a substantial bonus, his training, education, and bonuses totaled, well, let’s say a lot of money. If my son was still on active duty and he refused a vaccine that he didn’t want and didn’t need,

The Navy can force someone out, but they cannot ruin you. You are whole without regard to the evil actions of the Navy. As for charging anyone a million, declare bankruptcy.

There goes the concept of an all-volunteer military. You could never predict when your military leaders or president might put extraordinary and unprecedented loads on you. Why start? But, I'm guessing this is a feature, not a bug. Joe's puppetmasters want a weak America so China can take our country without a shot being fired.

As a former Nebraska attorney general, I have generally declined to comment on legal opinions issued by my successors. However, the recent opinion concerning ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine as off-label medicines for the treatment of COVID-19 is extraordinary. Moreover, it addresses an issue that potentially affects every Nebraskan who becomes infected with COVID-19, so that it deserves to be highlighted. The issue, as stated by the current attorney general, is "whether it would be deemed unlawful or otherwise subject to discipline ... for an appropriately licensed health care provider, once informed patient consent has been appropriately obtained, to prescribe ivermectin [or] hydroxychloroquine ... for the treatment or prevention of Covid-19."

I’ve generally tried to avoid these kinds of stories the last several weeks because writing about Joe Biden’s obvious senility gets repetitive at some point. But somehow, he just keeps upping the ante in a way that I can’t ignore. That happened today during an event at the White House where Jill Biden hosted the 2021 Teachers of the Year ceremony. That included the presence of Randi Weingarten, the child-less teachers union head who was at the forefront of so much destruction to schools over the last two years. She was honored today because absolutely nothing matters to this administration except rank partisanship and being on the right team.

There are a great many unknowns and controversies associated with the COVID pandemic. Among the most urgent are those associated with appropriate therapeutic and prophylactic interventions. Some of the most intense disputes involve repurposed therapies — i.e., drugs that have been approved for the treatment of some other condition being used as therapy for COVID. This is the case with the anti-parasitic agent ivermectin. Much of the controversy regarding ivermectin involves "evidence" that the drug has a benefit in the treatment of COVID. Detractors will often use the hyperbolic claim that there is no evidence that ivermectin is useful in this setting.

Some of them do admit that — when they’re cornered. I’m thinking of Dan Crenshaw being confronted by an election truther at a fundraiser in August and telling the guy that he was kidding himself if he believed there was such widespread fraud that it flipped the result in multiple states. There’s a cohort of hardcore populists within the House GOP whose loyalty to Trump is such that they’ll eagerly parrot any conspiracy theory he likes but most GOP reps who are asked about this tend to mumble something noncommittal about “election integrity” and “unanswered questions” before changing the subject.

A Politico/Morning Consult poll released Wednesday found that 62 per cent of registered voters assigned a lot or some blame to the Biden administration when asked who was responsible for the 13-year high. Broken down, 40 per cent of those surveyed said the Biden administration's policies were very responsible, while another 22 per cent said the policies were somewhat responsible.
