Ah, to be Twitter. Can control anything it publishes, profit from anything it wants — and not be held responsible for any of it.Such is a unanimous ruling by the Federal Election Commission, which found Twitter violated no law by censoring The Post’s factual report about the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop. Stating that, in its view, “Twitter is likely a press entity,” the FEC said that the social media network’s “activities fall within our press exemption.” That’s going to be news to Twitter and Facebook, which enjoy the benefits of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act

Ok courts. Can you be a news publisher, as the FEC has stated and a non-publisher platform, protected by section 230 of the CDA - at the same time?

Common sense would say to cancel all 230 protections from companies who censor anything they don’t agree with.

They weren't that already, along with pretty much all of the US media outlets, which should be burned to the ground if this nation is to survive?

If the majority of people now on the Twitters of this world closed their accounts, they'd render them powerless. Easy peasy.

The Federal Election Commission?
Is there any one of our institutions that is not corrupt?

I got off Twitter long ago. I had joined at the beginning. Liked it a lot. My handle was my first and last name. Where are the alternatives? Everyone; Trump, Lindell, & more we’re creating a competitive FB and Twitter. No one seems to be there yet. I’m open to suggestions.

tweeter and Facebook are maxixt run and operated...take heart folks... WE the people have new alternatives on line...it's starting to happen...more and more conservatives have given up on Facebook and tweeter's Rasputin...these commie groups are so afraid of conservatives that they censor everything that is discussed...so okay...sign off and leave the social media folks to discuss nonsense social matters...I don't think who's sleeping with who is important for our country's wellbeing...

I figured it out 9 years ago when I monitored tweets over a week and a half. It appeared contrived with the pile on of tweets out of no where. Is it bot theater? Sure looked like it that long ago?

What do you mean the FEC turned them. They were like that before. As are all the rest of the social media sites.

If you dislike and disagree with Twitter and Facebook, don't use them. Let them die. But you won't, because you are addicted to them. I have several conservative friends who have basically admitted to this. And they also use the excuse of "well, that is how I keep in touch with friends and family". I ask them, "well, how did you keep up with them before the internet and smartphones?" Silence.

Twitter isn't a news platform. It was never a news platform. Anyone getting what they think is news from Twitter is seriously misguided.

El Rushbo pointed out long ago that the folks at Twitiot had many FAKE accounts that were in fact bot repeaters to make it appear that It alone was a true measure of public opinion.
This is going to make it a law unto itself and little more than a platform to control the direction of the nation's political direction and government policy.
Conservatives need to stay off.

Close Twitter down in the US until they drop their leftist bias and conservative filtering. I know, fat chance with Biden in there since they love him so much.

It seems then that anyone can enjoy the benefits of being considered a member of the press. It appears that no credentials, no education snd no skills are necessary. The results are obvious
